Six Flags Fiesta Texas (SFFT) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

as part of Fright Bash, we had reserved seating for several shows - and although Fiesta is well known for their shows, I had seen versions of the evening ones, and so was most excited about "Haunted Hollywood" - a Halloween version of the excellent Hollywood thru the years show the park had new for 2024.

it's mostly the same cast (a few new faces) performing "spooky" or "scary" songs. . .y'all. .it's SO good.    highly, highly recommended:

IMG_6206.thumb.JPG.1395f4f91f2929317ea51501c9e6ee9f.JPG

wish I could remember all the songs. . but they were mostly of the Halloween variety. . . really talented cast tho.

(the only one I didn't care for was "Feed My Frankenstein" - as the guy was way out of key (and that's hard to do on an Alice Cooper song). . but huge props to him for making it down all those stairs in the giant Frankenstein boots).

the Count with the puppet Dracula was hysterical. . and the song was so good too (even if I can't recall it right now)

IMG_6215.thumb.JPG.b209e94b425826d65ac424cba6a43e5c.JPG

this one I remember, as it truly is a show standout:  "Psycho Killer". . featuring little Vignettes of each victim being chased by their killer. . .

IMG_6216.thumb.JPG.2f323a0345aa07a284997aee6fe2fad1.JPG

before all joining up in the center stage for some great choreography.

and HUGE points to the park for staying in true character - the "bad guys" all run. . . except for Michael Myers. . he just slowly walks after his victim.

perfection!

a kinda cringy "dancing pillowcases" number for Casper the Friendly ghost.

but I mean. . it was amusing.

IMG_6224.thumb.JPG.0a67f8bcff3bd88793eb748596ec3c64.JPG

and of course, the show ender/ show stopper, is a full performance of "Thriller"

after the show, the organizers asked all attendees on the stage for a group picture (I kept my hat on, so a bit noticeable)

and then we got a meet and greet with the cast. . these 3 are among my favorite performers at SFFT, and any show they are in?  I'll be there!

back out into the heat, we had a couple of hours until dinner. . so it was time to ride some stuff!

pic by my friend Belinda - who's in the very front.

SO many characters out during the day (I would guess many of them change outfits to be ghouls at night). . but so many photo ops, and this is a lovely park anyways!

Supergirl retheme completely done, and the Starflyer looks great.

after a bunch of riding (I had my camera put away, so not many pics) it was time for dinner, and some Q&A with park folks.

I didn't take a pic of my dinner, but did bump into the Quirky Coaster Couple (who had changed from Luigi/Mario for a "nighttime" look).   Glad I snapped this pic, as you can get a look at the food.

the chicken schnitzel on a stick was incredible, as were the ribs, and the german potato salad (and potato pancakes with applesauce).

IMG_6243.thumb.JPG.37f6cf3e767664cb11da26c5d832264b.JPG

as a group of 17 strong (!) we decided to hit some of the houses that opened at 6.. as most folks were heading over to the Crackaxle train station for the Arrival (where the scarezone actors arrive by train and pour out into their own scare zones thruout the park).

it was SO crowded that day, that I didn't want to be anywhere near Crackaxle - so instead we hit the Stranger Things House (yawn), the Conjuring House (excellent!!), Slaughterhouse (very good), the Voodoo House (which during the day is a kid friendly "tour of the collector's store" walkthru, but at night is filled with scare actors and low lights), Trapped (way better than in previous years, as they took some of the props from the discontinued Buried Alive house).

the Voodoo house let us out right into the scare zone in Spassburg, so we decided it was close enough to the Arrival, that we would wait for the characters to arrive in the Scarezone before continuing onto the boardwalk - as the big outdoor maze (Hell Cemetery) is staffed by some of the ghouls on the train.

it was a perfect spot to get some pics as they slowly made their way into the park, from a PACKED (so I was told) Crackaxle train stop.

once they scare actors were out and about in the park, we headed to the boardwalk for the last House, Twisted, and the large (free) outdoor maze Hell Acres:

IMG_6250.thumb.JPG.6e38411b5da0c91ce40a2a5040726506.JPG

the clown zone had filled up with scare actors from the Arrival.

I think people don't realize this is a house here, and they think it's a queue for Pandemonium.

but it never really has a line, even without the skip the line, we wouldn't have had to wait very long in the regular pass line.   but it's a great house, with some really good animatronics in it.

IMG_6255.thumb.JPG.aa267102e476faa2c102ce870af53207.JPG

it had gotten a bit too stuffy, so had put the hat in the car after dinner. . .

IMG_6256.thumb.JPG.f298fee24d6ea2a40c4bdaadfa98d408.JPG

loved Twisted, but then down the steps to the Cemetery.

Excellent.    Large.   and Free (as it's considered a Scare Zone, not a house)

IMG_6257.thumb.JPG.798b2a7109ecc6f7cc9cd3e7c316150a.JPG

SUCH atmosphere down here.

and some wonderfully spooky pics of the boardwalk due to the lights and fog.

this one also benefited from reuse of props from the closed Buried Alive and Rockkill High houses.

after this, we walked across the park to the other outdoor walkthru "Scarezone" - "Fear Acres" - which takes over a pretty good chunk of the waterpark, and has historically been SO packed, that I've never even gone thru the whole thing.   Surprisingly as packed as the park was?  "Fear Acres" had no line to get in, and the crowds were moving pretty well thru this large, and very well staffed haunt zone.

crazy farmers, scarecrows, pig masks, machetes and chainsaws. . . check.

very good, and for free too. . even if the makeups were mainly greasepaint and not as intricate as in the houses.

we had reserved seating for two more shows, and the fireworkds "Frightful Finale" - followed by an hour + ERT on Dr. Diabolical and Iron Rattler. . . . but doing the math in my head, I said to my friend (who had driven). . if we stay for the fireworks, we're not getting home until 2am.   as even if we dont' stay for ERT, we'll be stuck in the parking lot.

I was exhausted - having been to a late concert the night before, and still not recovered from Germany late nights. . . so I told him I'm ok with whatever he wants to do.   His son had come with us and he also works nights and he had gotten off work and immediately got in the car with us to San Antonio. . so I know he was tired too.

so Russell asked him, and he was ok with leaving, so we called it a night, and left before the fireworks. . but it got me home by 11:45,  so that was nice - even if I did need to stop and get a slurpee so the sugar would keep me up on my drive home.

all in all?   a great event, and FrightFest at SFFT is highly recommended.

Looks great! Guess we have to come back down during FF at some point. My list of park Halloween events is getting so long I may have to start doing 2 a year 🙄

most def. add Fright Bash to your list.

just for the included house fast pass, and Flash Pass badge.    (and show seating). . it really is worth it JUST for those, even if you don't' ride much.

the only good news I can report on today.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas, has quietly dropped the height restriction on Dr. Diabolical's Cliffhanger. . . . after Park President Jeffery Siebert started teasing the other day that the Doctor was expanding her practice.

the Dive coaster was minimum height 52"

not anymore!

Its been 4 months since Kid Flash derailment, is it still in the same state?

it was not shut down after that "derailment"   . . it operated a few times after.

but has been sitting dead and dark for at least 3 months at this point.   they don't even run the lights any longer and the trains are not on the coaster.

read back up a bunch of posts and you'll see that odds are it's not gonna be in the park much longer is my guess.

will be there tomorrow.

as it's timed to Friday the 13th?   most likely something to do with Krampus.

but I'm sure he'll tease it for us.

I don’t think this is Krampus stuff, I think this is a Goliath retheme announcement

yeah.. Jeffrey was super coy about it. . but said all will be revealed on Friday.

however, based on his comments about Goliath not fitting into the area since it was brought over from Six Flags New Orleans, and that the repaint really helps it to fit in more?

I'd put money on a Goliath rename.    and based on the teaser?  probably something along the lines of "Chupacabra"

that wasn't the "big" news tho. . . in answer to a question about things coming in 2025. . he brought up how "the Doctor has decided to go into Pediatrics, and talked about the reduction in the height requirement that the park recently did -    he then also mentioned that she's been pretty cranky lately and is cooking up something "special" as a nasty gift next year.

nothing really to get excited about, but then he mentioned that it was the 1st "beyond vertical drop" on a dive coaster, and that the Doctor had called a meeting with Park Management and B&M early next year.

so that perked up my ears. . . B&M is coming to the park to have a meeting about Cliffhanger?

I STRONGLY suspect we might get a "hold" on the 2nd drop. . otherwise why bring in the Coaster Manufacturer?  I can't imagine they are going to reprofile the drop. . . so the only thing that makes sense to me is a 2nd hold, since many dive coasters DO hold before the 2nd drop and Cliffhanger does not.

it was a very cold day yesterday, and a bit drizzly, but we all had a wonderful time.   and the shows are FANTASTIC once again, with almost the entire cast of Scrooge doing double duty and also performing in "Majesty of Christmas". . so the voices are there and really great.

Pic's from last Saturday's "Feliz Fiesta" event at the park.

it was cold, it was drizzly, but still had an amazing time. . .

forgot to take a pic coming in, so instead got one on the way out.

the park looks amazing.    and as noted, even with the day's conditions, we had a great time doing shows and looking at the lights (tho SOMEHOW, I never made it over to Santa!! - by the time I remembered, he was shut down for the night.   oh well, have to go back :) )

the new entrance sign for the DC Universe.

it truly looks amazing, and it lights up at night!   (Kid Flash is over there on the right, and I noticed a Dipping Dots stand has moved over slightly, to kinda block the entrance queue from sight a bit more. . . yeah the ride isn't operating at all.    tho Jefferey DID tell us they are still looking at options, and hope to have some plan to get the ride up and going regularly again if they are able to).

both trains are on the tracks, but this is just for looks at the moment, as the station is still in process of being built.   But the tracks are complete for the Metropolis Transit Authority.

Poison Ivy is also up and running.

and it looked like Batgirl was close, but maybe not operating as they are still working on Penguin (who's tracks go underneath the Batgirl coaster)

one of the rides that was operating on this really chilly/wet morning?   Joker.. so we headed there first.

and then over to eat something at Sangerfest Hall.

and if you know me?  not really a trip to SFFT without a stop to take a pic with Sweet Connie.

IMG_6696.thumb.JPG.21a54113ce67b1716ba8d23dd57ea4f6.JPG

after food, and looking at the show schedule, Jim and I decided to take in the Looney Tunes Christmas show (the Tin Soldiers were cancelled as the ground was too wet)

IMG_6702.thumb.JPG.0b16fbedd20e0c166af74b04a2d36294.JPG

I mean. . it's a show for kids, but was still adorable.

and Taz in his nightgown (and with lots of fart jokes) had the children laughing, and us smiling.

we didn't hang around after the show for the meet and greet, but amusingly, when we walked past the meet and greet area in Spassburg - two of the characters were out anyways.

so we stopped on our way to ride Pirates (and meet up with friends) to get a photo with them (tho not in their Chistmas show bedclothes costumes)

IMG_6712.thumb.JPG.d1ad3d111e903a39070cc97d6c50be52.JPG

we met up with our friends in Rockville. . .but before meeting up, I noticed the group of Jingle Elves, and the Christmas Cookies bakery were hanging out under the Rockville High School overhang (to stay out of the drizzle).

so we headed over there first to get some pics, as most of the Jingle Elves performers are regulars in SFFT shows, and I recognized a bunch of them.

IMG_6727.thumb.JPG.09aa5cf294f0aec461b2961b2ec36b6d.JPG

but after meeting up, we noticed we were right by Primos (and their Bar - which had the spiked Hot Chocolate options).

so we grabbed a table and sat in there for a while drinking Spiked Hot Chocolate.     LOL. . so much they actually ran out and took the sign down offering it (I asked the bartender what happened to the sign and she told me we drank them out of Hot Chocolate).

expensive. . but do note, there are TRUE bartenders at Primos bar - and they free-pour.  so the drinks are gooooood.

IMG_6729.thumb.JPG.fb1fc408e664313bca0a9894872c4873.JPG

it was almost time for dinner, and we had to meet at the picnic area. . so we headed that way.

but noticed that poor Sylvester was by himself in the meet & greet with no one.. . so we popped in to grab a picture and make us all feel better.
(and you can tell from the smiles, we were feeling the spiked hot chocolate)

IMG_6731.thumb.JPG.e7e59352cba6d5e69088e748a4cc90a1.JPG

no pics from dinner. . . not sure why, as that's very unlike me.

but from the picnic, we got to go backstage to get to the tree lighting in front of Rockville High.

passing the Superman train #3 undergoing renovations.

and the power of Santa Magic (and noise from the crowd) and the tree lights up.

(and it starts snowing on the streets of Rockville)

after the tree lighting (which was not as crowded as it typically is due to the smaller crowd today thanks to the weather) we headed inside Rockville for the Dickens show.

it premiered a couple of years ago, and it's VERY good. . with a really great cast (who also are mostly the cast of the Majesty of Chistmas show).

IMG_6749.thumb.JPG.a3fac6b803e443811a4b07090326f667.JPG

and then a group of friends wandered around taking pics - this one is from slightly earlier in the day, and is from my friend Russell.

and then we picked up Cinnamon Bread to take home for later.

while Jim and Russell went out to the car to put it away, I took some pics in the main plaza while we waited for the Majesty of Christmas show doors to open.

the park really does SUCH an amazing job at decorating for every event they do here.

it really was only about this crowded today. . . sadly, it was too cold for many of the "big" rides. . .tho they did keep Iron Rattler, and Dr. Diabolical's Cliffhanger (as well as Boomerang) up and running all day for coasters.

it really is a highly recommended show.

afterwards, the cast stayed on stage for us to take a group pic for the organizers of the Feliz Fiesta Event.  (very cool to be on stage with the cast)

and then we hopped on the train to go around the park while the train played Christmas Carols.

ending up at Crackaxle for end of night rides on Iron Rattler, and Cliffhanger.

and by the beautiful Crackaxle tree.

and with that it was time to head home.

I felt bad the park wasn't busier, but with the weather I get it.

and huge kudos to the whole park - that was fully staffed up, even tho the crowd was light today.

can't wait to go back in a couple of weeks.. the NYE fireworks show is 360 surrounding the park!

and I have to tell Santa what I want :)
