Bolliger&Mabillard Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 I thought of a new inversion called a "paperclip" inversion. it consists of two elongated vertical loops one after the other resembling a paperclip.
HHN Dylan Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Ah, the future smething I know a lot about actually, at least I think I do. Just think of it 50 years ago the world thought space travel was impossible, look now we have regular people going into space, of course for a fee, but still. Now just think of the same idea for coasters... Think of the most impossible think you can think of then imagne if It could be reality. Jumping tracks? 1000+ drops? unearthly inversions? Just think about it.
BeemerBoy Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Ah, the future smething I know a lot about actually, at least I think I do. Will I win a bracelet at next year's World Series of Poker?
Jcoaster Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 I think that there will not be large amounts of coasters that are the Tallest Fastest etc. I think that ride designs are going to get more and more compact, so parks can add more coasters without taking up space. As for coasters in the New World.....God only knows.
Manny In England Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 ^ Staying positive isn't a sure-win at poker.
SteveC Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Q - what do you think coasters will be like in 10 years? A - AWESOME - hope I'm still around to enjoy them
ginzo Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Will I win a bracelet at next year's World Series of Poker? Answer unclear. Try again later.
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Will we see B&M prototype something? An invert that can run six trains? Will S&S build a longer, more in your face 4D coaster? How about a full sized dark coaster?
thrillgeek Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 We will see GCI coasters with trains with 4 across seating and ultra cool themeing. Even at Six Flags parks
OrientExpressForever Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Well, maybe not in 10 years, but hopefully sometime in the future we'll see a maglev (magnetic levitation) coaster. Imagine how awesome a flying dutchman style coaster would be utilizing this frictionless technology! With no rumble or vibrations from wheels contacting the track, it would be as close to a pure flight experience as you could get on a coaster. Of course, the technology is far from perfected and is ultra expensive, so it may be a long time before we see anything like this. I've also envisioned an ultra high speed launched coaster that would simulate a fighter jet using a maglev track. I wonder what the fastest speed could be that would be both feasible and safe for a coaster...300mph, 500mph...what about a sonic boom inducing 770mph? Is it even possible? What do you think?

Rct3man777 Posted July 18, 2008 Author Posted July 18, 2008 For anything above 140, you're gonna need the trains to be completley covered.
DBru Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 I think you could go faster than 200mph...but the launch would have to be VERY stretched out and tame. No 0-200mph in 2 seconds
Rct3man777 Posted July 19, 2008 Author Posted July 19, 2008 ^Yeah, if you did THAT you'd have a pancake shaped human!
Rollerman87 Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 I think you could go faster than 200mph...but the launch would have to be VERY stretched out and tame. No 0-200mph in 2 seconds Well, they're getting close to launching that fast> Look at the new S&S Power Thrust Air Coaster Ring Racer (link). 135 in 2.5 seconds. Those are gonna be some intense g's. Just imagine if they harness the power of steam. Aircraft carrier feeling launches. Nutso!
Rct3man777 Posted July 19, 2008 Author Posted July 19, 2008 ^I heard right when it reaches 134 it slows down to like 60 or something, then goes through a couple turns.
Vekoma Fan Boy Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 There will be no need for coasters. For there will be the Virtual Coaster. A virtual reality ride that simulates every aspect of a coaster. G-s, wind, even the scent of puke! And soon after that will be the Virtual Virtual Coaster. "I could have sworn I was riding a virtual coaster!" First person to figure out where I got that gets a cookie!
