BDG Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Lots of progress was made this week... Structure for the first drop: Trackwork on the lifthill: Train station: Concrete for the turnaround: photos: Plopsaland
RyanTPM Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 ^Quite like the curving drop, thanks for the updates!
viking86 Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 The ride is coming along nicely! Those GCI curves sure are beautiful!!
StealthFan Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 That is not a situation where you would want one of your legs to slip sideways!
BDG Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 The camelback... In other news, the ride will be lapbar-only. No seatbelts. source: Plopsaland
ElvisLuv Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 How long would it take to cover this park on a midweek . Early to mid June day. Trying to get a feel for it for planning purposes.
BDG Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Buildings going up... And progress on the ride itself... source: Plopsaland
BDG Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Turnaround structure... More buildings... The clock tower: This will be a really nice corner of the park: photos: Plopsaland
jedimaster1227 Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 The ride is looking great (particularly with the wooden supports instead of the steel ones Fun Spot America's model uses). I can't wait to see what the coaster looks like when plussed with the park's signature theming.
BDG Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Another update! Turnaround: Station: Buildings and scenery: The train station: Some more shots: A flat ride goes here: This will likely be most guests' first view of the ride... photos: Plopsaland
viking86 Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Thanks for keeping us updated on the construction, looks like the ride is coming together nicely. Really excited to see the what the whole area will look like when theming is done, I'm sure it will look fantastic. I also love the view down the path in the last picture!
ZeroGravity55 Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 The turnaround isn't banked at 90 degrees like White Lighting's is. Not that it will make much of a difference, just interesting to see some of the tweaks GCI has made to the design compared to White Lighting.
BDG Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 Looks like you will be able to get really close to the ride on the parking lot side... photos: Plopsaland
SFOG1991 Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 White Lightning might be my favorite GCI I've been on (along with Gold Striker. Although Thunderhead and American Thunder also come very close) so honestly this might be better than a custom GCI. They did a great job on White Lightning and I would love to have one at my closest park!
BDG Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 Steel! The view from the log flume lift hill: And right before the drop: For the cobblestone aficionados: photos: Plopsaland
Nrthwnd Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Love the little artwork on the side and front of the cars. Very nice, extra touch.
viking86 Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 I like the artwork on the front. However the combination of the horizontal boards and the artwork onthe sides don't really match. Either one of those by itself would look great, but together it just looks a bit like they couldn't decide and thought 'what the heck, let's have both'. I'm not saying that the trains looks bad, but I think this is a perfect example where "less is more" would have made it look better.

Either one of those by itself would look great, but together it just looks a bit like they couldn't decide and thought 'what the heck, let's have both'. Without the wood, it would look too much like a Norwegian sleigh. Without the artwork, it would look "wild west". Did you see the artwork (posted many months ago) of what it should look like when completed? I thought that looked pretty good... Anyway, some more construction photos: photos: Plopsaland
viking86 Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Without the wood, it would look too much like a Norwegian sleigh. I see no problem with that! Nice to see the station area starting to come together. Looking forward to see what it will look like once it's complete.
BDG Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 The hills are alive... First test run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NB7xRu3o9w Official POV:
RyanTPM Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 ^Well, it's certainly got some really good pacing to it, no parts of the layout look slow at all!
rcjp Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 ^Indeed. Looks live a very fun ride (especially for its size)
