sfmmrules!
Does anyone know how early I should line up at the gate before opening so I can get on X2 w/hardly a wait?
suave1226
Just wanted to say that was the best time my wife and I have ever had at Magic Mountain respectively. Rode X2 a total of 10 times. Rode every roller coaster that was open with the exception of Canyon Blaster with no more than a 15 min wait which was for Superman. Everything else was a walk on. All the water rides were walk ons. Even the Sky Tower was open. I don't think that there was any ride up there that was closed which is a first for me. The campout event was great. Raccoons were seen roaming around the tents at night which was a plus especially for the kids from the Boys and Girls club who were throwing cookies near their friends so the racoons would go next to them while sleeping. The breakfast was great. We even parked for free which I can't stress enough was a plus. The fact that they allowed us to use our wristband as a VIP for X2 to bypass everyone in line was something that pretty much sold me on the fact the Magic Mountain really does care about being about people now. They didn't have to but they did and getting the opportunity to walk by that massive line was great. The wife even started singing her remix to the Frank Sinatra song played on the ride to the people in line "It Sucks To Be You."Unfortunately I didn't get to interact with the people from Theme Park Review like I wanted but it pretty much sold my wife and I on trying to attend a future coaster trip with you guys. Best $100 ever spent.
evil saltine
They use Propane. Hank Hill just got very happy.  --Robb  That's a clean-burning coaster, I tell you what.
SharkTums
^^^Get there an hour BEFORE opening! Â Today is a PERFECT example of why. We were meeting some friends who didn't arrive till 11. By then there was an hour long line just to get from the freeway to parked! Â X2 cycled about 10 times with people, but then broke by 11:15 and was still not running a bit after 1pm!!! Jhcbiinoc
Coasters that have the onboard audio make the ride more fun, but I feel that X2 has taken this idea to a new level. It isn't just a coaster anymore. It is an entire expericence. I think that SFMM now has a ride comproble to Disney attractions, as far as telling a story. It is the difference between Big Thunder Mountain and Gold Rusher. You are immeresed in the X2 story from the moment you enter the queue line. Even though I have had no direct hand in the transformation, I have never been more proud to be part of the Six Flags family. Â I agree totally. I still cannot get over how impressed I was with the "X makeover" and how it enhanced the experience. I have to admit, I was skeptical about how the whole thing was going to work at one point and would have been content with just enhanced reliability and ride quality, but now that I have had a chance to experience it firsthand, I see this as one of those instances where a great concept and a great execution of that concept has resulted in an attraction that is going to get the park a lot of good attention. The comments I heard from the GP Saturday echo that this was a really, really good move. I think a lot of people enjoyed the queue as well; in addition to how they were raving about the ride, I heard a few say that although the line was long, it seemed to move really fast. RIP Psyclone
I'm happy that X2 has been received so well. Now, they just have to master the running of 3 trains and getting dispatch intervals averaging under 2 minutes and X2 will be perfect, pretty much. Dual loading stations like Tatsu is what X2 would really need, but imagine how wide the station would be. If they could figure out how to load/unload 2 tandemly, like some other coasters, making use of the old unload area, then that would also be a bonus. It also occured to me that if they're never going to use the unload area again, they should theme it to a cave! Audio saying something like "You've made it back this time..." TheRealTinkerbell
Audio saying something like "You've made it back this time..." Â Well, when you're done with you're ride, there's still music and audio playing and then this guy says, " This was one craz, insane expereicne, it's like Jekyll and Hyde yo!" And it really was. I mean, I remember when I rode it without the audio. As everyone has said before, the audio really added to the ride experience. I mean, the heartbeat at the top just gets you going....dooooownnnn HAHAHA! couldn't help it.
cooksta77
The audio is an awesome addition I rode one time with no audio Great! The 2nd time at night with audio off the charts!!!! I also like the talking on the ride up thru the speakers! once u get to the top it says," 3-2-1- GO,GO,GO,GO,GO! Then the ride is off!

Now, they just have to master the running of 3 trains and getting dispatch intervals averaging under 2 minutes I saw Jay in the park today and he said the goal was to get 3 trains running this week. Â I think they probably needed a little more practice with it. The crew was actually doing VERY well every time we saw the ride running. I'd say the average dispatch was about 3 minutes which compared to the hayday of X that's quite an improvement! Â They do have all three trains ready to go as yesterday the speakers broke on one of the trains and they swapped it out. Â I actually thought it was impressive that they felt the audio not working was reason enough to switch out a train. IMO the audio makes the "makeover" and without it the experience is just not quite the same. Â There was some downtime today, though. It was closed from about 11:00 to 1:15. Anyone here if it opened back up again? Â --Robb

Well, after that, first there's the heartbeat, a voice that to me sounds like Bobcat Goldthwait that says, "We are high up!" and the "Going Down!" (one of my favorite audio bits on the whole thing).  The things said on the lift are great, it took me a few rides to catch as many as I did, including "Redrum!" SharkTums
^It's funny how opinions are so different. I thought the absolute WORST part of the added music were the 'spoken random stuff' on the lift!
sfmmrules!
Ok. An hour before. But what time do I need to be at the gate so I can get the first or second train?
spacemtfan
It seems like having an on-board sound system is a coaster standard nowadays. Â Hey Robb, what songs do they play on X2?
Mr Stratosphere
Â Oh nice lol, I was securing my things in my cargo pocket lol! Was so excited to get up to the ride I forgot to put some of my things away! But the next day I used the lockers so I didn't have to worry about losing anything. You would be surprised how handy those lockers can be! How mad would you be if you lost your phone or wallet while on the ride? Â John
ahecht
If they are getting 3 minute dispatches I'm impressed. Last time I was at Magic Mountain they were doing 7 minute dispatches with two trains.

ZipityDoDog
Props to MM. Not only did we get to ride night ERT with a midnight snack and full breakfast spread, but all day long fast pass on Saturday. Ended up with 20 rides in all, and no headache. The music on the ride makes it a complete experience. From the Enter Sandman with the voices to the heart beating. It really sets up the anticipation. Thanks again MM for a great time. Forget Disney, I found my happy place.
RIP Psyclone
Hey Robb, what songs do they play on X2? Â This was already explained on page 19. There's a little list. Â How about the soundbytes? All of the random spoken things on the ride's soundtrack? The one I know of is: Â 1. "Is everybody in?" -- Jim Morrison of The Doors
TheRealTinkerbell
^ It's difficult to really pay attention and hear each of the soundbytes one by one. I couldn't make some out because I was too excited to listen(plus with the lift hill clacking next to your ear, it's kind of hard to hear). I remember there's some girl that says "Who's Idea was this?" followed by a scream and then the "3-2-1GOGOGOGO!" The "Goiiinnng DOOOWWWNNN" is pretty obvious and then at the end where the guy is saying "This was one crazy insane experience, like Jekyll and Hyde yo". Those are the ones that I can remember. I couldn't make the other ones out.
Kennyweird
Looks really good, love the fire effects. Maybe in a few years I'll find the time (and money) to go to SFMM. Their management seems to be finally heading in the right direction, as evidenced by X2.
