PURE
$50 is still a bad deal. I know where you're coming from but it's not supposed to be a deal. Its a privilege to get on the ride an hour before it opens and ride without any GP in the way. I just spent $125 on a pass, do I feel like dropping $50 bucks to get on X2 for an hour, certainly not. But if I wanted to get on X2 first, I think I'd suck it up and spend the money. In the scope of things, you'll get 3 or more rides right in the morning, and while everyone else rushes to X2 at 10 in the morning, you'll have a chance to go on other things with relatively smaller lines. I just think, that if it was a deal, everyone would go. And how special would it be then?
robbalvey
In the scope of things, you'll get 3 or more rides right in the morning, and while everyone else rushes to X2 at 10 in the morning, you'll have a chance to go on other things with relatively smaller lines. And in theory a lot more than that. I want to believe that for the campout ERT they will: 1. Have all three trains running 2. Give everyone a full hour, even if it breaks down. There are 84 seats on the train. Even if 200 people show up that means worst case scenario you are riding once every 3 cycles. If 84 or less people show up and they run the ride continuously I would think you could easily get in 10 or more rides in that hour. So you have to ask yourself - Is 10 rides on X2 without waiting in any line PLUS the experience of being able to spend the night in a park worth $50? It's like the people who go to a midnight showing of a movie, or go spend the extra money at the El Capitan for the latest Disney release. While I personally don't see a value it in, I'm not going to complain about those that do. --Robb
socalMAN123
^ Exactly. I think the $50 is a bit steep, but consider what you are getting for your money. You get to spend the night in the park (which pretty much no one gets to do) and you get a full hour of ERT on a brand new coaster. ---Brent

RIP Psyclone
^,^^: I wonder how much more it would have been to replace the back flip with a full/full.
robbalvey
^ I honestly didn't even notice a difference between the two elements. In fact, several others of us who rode Eejanaika were like "where exactly was that again?" Both rides were so similar that if you didn't know, you WOULDN'T know they weren't clones of each other. Except of course Eejanaika being rough as hell! --Robb
socalMAN123
^ Haha, that reminds me of your POV on Roller Coaster in the Raw. That was classic, defenitly better than the Manhattan Express POV. ---Brent

Jhcbiinoc
^^ You're treating X2 like it was a new coaster, expecting a Media Day & so forth when it very much is not. X2 is X w/ new paint, new trains, and maybe a fire effect or two. That's about it, plus hopefully some tweaks in procedure to increase capacity & reliability. I know it's not really a "new" coaster, and instead an upgrade, but the park is promoting it as if it is a "new ride" (e.g., "The ALL NEW X2!") as part of the rebranding, hence my thoughts that they might be having a Media Day or similar events. The charge is not that big of a deal to me. If I had not spent the $50 for the event, I would have spent more money as I would have stayed in a hotel Friday night near the park to be there at the opening in hopes of beating what will likely be an impressive line. This way not only is it less of a cost, there is also the opportunity for ERT on X2 and the opportunity to hang out with cool people the night before and at the event. TheRealTinkerbell
So, when I waited 28 hours on the streets of Hollywood to get a 20 dollar tattoo from Kat Von D, after all the drama that happened, and the fact that it was totally unorganized, I was so grateful and pleased that I went though that experience. I think that's what SFMM is trying to pull that off. The feeling tha you'll walk off a ride feeling like you accomplished something. Sure, $50 is a bit steep, and the fact that season pass holders aren't getting a discount is kind of...unfair(?), but you have to realize, Magic Mountain is ALLOWING you to experience this. I understand that last year it was totally free and all, but I think it's a great deal, especially for someone that doesn't have a season pass to SFMM( like me) or people that don't get to visit the park often. I mean, parking alone is 15 dollars just for one day. Then you have to pay for your entrance- 26.99 online. Then you have to think about the amount of money you spend on food, drinks, etc. Just 3.25 for a soda or 12.99 for a souvenier cup(or however much it is) plus refills. One slice of Pizza is like...8 or 9 dollars?! If you're rounding it off, you're spending almost the same amount in one day as you would for the Overnight sleep, Overnight Parking, Free Breakfast, and Park Entry the next day. Plus the fact that everything else if practically going to be at no wait at all. Hello Deja-Vu Credit!
Wes
^ Be realistic, you are paying $50 to sleep on the ground in their picnic area for an hours worth of rides on a coaster that's been open for over six years now.
TheRealTinkerbell
Compared to the hours I would be waiting in line just to get ONE ride on it....yeah...I'd pay 50 dollars over and over again.
JimBeach
Would love to attend but I don't have a car so it's a bit hard to get there with gear and store it somehow. Is anyone coming from around the Long Beach, CA area I could carpool there and back with?

Mr Stratosphere
I just got my season pass in the mail today too. So my friend and I decided to make more of a trip of this and spend all day Friday at the park, and spend all night there as well for the camp out. I'm really looking forward to this trip! Hercules
Compared to the hours I would be waiting in line just to get ONE ride on it....yeah...I'd pay 50 dollars over and over again. It's called a Gold Flash Pass. You only have to pay for it once, and you can use it over and over again.
socalMAN123
^ There's no Gold Flashpass at SFMM. We have the ghetto ticket version that used to be in place. I hope we get Q-Bot soon though. ---Brent
Hercules
That is true. I take back my statement. I'm spoiled by Great Adventure.
ZipityDoDog
Just received my ticket today, counts me in. I think the Gold Flash pass is almost the same as the Thrill Pass at MM. The thrill pass is good for unlimited fast pass; AYCE at Mooseburge Lodge, reserved show seating, a 5x7 main gate entrance photo and 25% off all merchandise purchases. The price is almost the same for one person, but the Gold drops in price as the quantity of people using it increases.
Gnome
does anyone know what the "visual audio sensory" effects are yet?
Jhcbiinoc
From looking at the most recent photos on the X2 "Watch The Transformation" page on the Magic Mountain site as well as the one posted in the SFMM Updates thread, I think that onboard audio is part of the package as there appear to be speakers adjacent to the headrests. Fire effects are supposed to come into play as well, and I don't know what all else they have in store. Really looking forward to this event.....am I correct in thinking we are all just supposed to meet up at the picnic area at 10pm/park closing on the 23rd? I'm not sure if I will be coming directly to the event (leaving Mission Viejo at 7:30 to arrive at the park at 10) or if I will go up in the afternoon and spend a little while in the park first.
