Hi everyone this is my first TR. So go easy on me.

I was going through my parents house helping them clean and found some old Cedar Point pictures from 1978 or 1979 , My dad was not sure what year the family was their. He think's it was the year Gemini opened witch would be 78.

I tried to do the best scanning and adjusting the pictures the best I could. I hope you enjoy these and bring back some memories from the old Cedar Point.

I have also found brochures from SFGAM from 1988-2007, I also have Cedar Point brochures from 1994 to 2007. I will try to post them sone as I can.

Nice photos, I love CP and it's history is so interesting. It was so cool to look at all the old photos on the walls at Hotel Breakers.

I always enjoy pics from the 70's and the early 80's and this was neat to see.

Coaster05 might like this one. Can understand his point of view a bit more seeing these pictures.

Somewhere I read Maverick replaced a log flume in the area next to Thunder Canyon.

Looking forward to more of your collection.

Shoot the Rapids was located where Maverick is today. White Water Landing replaced it in 1982(?). Then of course Maverick replaced WWL last year. Put simply three different rides have occupied that spot:

Those pics are awesome! I remember riding Shoot the Rapids every year we went with the family. I also loved the double ferris wheel at the front of the park.

Does anyone know if there are any of these left in the USA? I have seen pics of some at State Fairs but not any permanent parks.

Thanks!

Those photos are awesome! It's really weird to look back and see how different Cedar Point was from the one we now know and love(?).

Great photos. I especially enjoyed seeing the ones taken from the sky tower or space spiral or what ever it is called.

I remember going to Cedar Point back then, it had great atmosphere and the park had like 4 roller coasters. Imagine that 4 roller coasters at one park! Amazing.

^^ Thanks Shane. I was blown away when I found them. The Main Midway pick's and the area over by the Blue Streak. I also have tons of brochures from my area parks from the late 80's, Most of what I have it from SFGAM it being my home park . I have most of them from 88-07 the only years i don't have are 97, 99, and 2000 I have all the rest. wright know i'm working on 88 I'm hoping to have it tonight for everyone. You and Scott inspired my to do this, Thank you.

^ Thank's Scott . It's really funny how much has changed over the years. And you can see the empty space were Raptor's cobra roll now sit's

White Water Landing used some of the old "chutes" from that ride. It was the concrete chute between the runout and the station.

Anything fiberglass was added when it became White Water Landing.

Great trip report! It was cool to see a pic of the old main midway with the "good" Blue Streak, the double ferris wheel, and 'The Pirate Ride' dark ride! I wish that I had been more of a camera enthusiast back in the day, I would have lots of memories to share from Cedar Point. Makes me realize how old I am getting!
