TyRush
I can smell that fresh wood in my computer room right now! If there is one type of coaster i love seeing being built its a woody. They look so fresh, especially a GCI
Angry_Gumball
I'm really liking the lift pov shot seeing the entry into the tunnel (or if I want to keep the McD's thing going, the rather twisty/curvy French fry). Trying to figure out why there are catwalks along roof edges and if its temporary (perhaps for roofing materials when they work on that).
robman
Those are some fantastic pictures! I also really like the themed light posts, really ties everything together nicely.

TyRush
The more I see, the more I want to ride it. They haven't announced its opening date yet have they? Soft opening is May 1st i believe, so public opening should be around then
JJnCFL
^The first rider auction is scheduled for May 1st, so it should open shortly thereafter.

Angry_Gumball
All of this gold porn has made me decide to share a couple 'enhanced' photos I took during the hardhat tour early this month. The "Golden Blessing" And a shot of Gold Striker's drop from inside the park, across from the reflection pond.

Swornenemy
GCI put some new pictures up on their Facebook. The final bent going up Station is coming along pretty nicely Transfer house, lift hill and station
Angry_Gumball
So next burning question: with the track adjacent to the station (flyby hump) how are going to route the path to it? Also, fun, useless fact: excluding the kids coasters, Gold Striker is CGA's only coaster in which the air gates are on the right of the track. Â And I love this pic (below). I'm visioning some nice graceful floater air while ducking for cover due to the head chopper tunnel and structure ahead it will dive under. vacoaster09
I wonder how the queue will get up the station. The station footprint is relatively small. Just curious where the stairwell will go. In one of the pictures it looks like there is another themed hallway in the making that goes under the station. Maybe the stairwell will go in the front side of the station between the station fly-by and the front of the station. The other thing I noticed from the picture is it looks that the station may have the issue of front row riders blocking the path of others to get to different rows. The station just looks narrow. I assume the unload side of the station which faces the park will have the ADA ramp.
JJnCFL
Yay more pics and airgates! That hallway that's in one of the pics I believe is the control room judging from the earlier pics. From the tour they mentioned the entrance to the station will be along the flyby and there will be an ADA elevator from what I remember. The pics don't give it justice obviously, it looks small but it's a typical sized GCI station. I'm actually glad the rows are small and not like Grizzly's long rows leading to the airgates, they'll most likely have a FL attendant to organize the line when it merges with the regular line so the station isn't packed. vacoaster09
But howelse will the entrance be along the flyby if not through that corridor under the station.
Double0Kevin
From what I remember from the tour, it will enter at the back of the station after going under the track from the transfer house. Then you would wait to board the train on the entrance side of the station which is along the flyby. I don't think they meant the line itself is along it but more simply that you board the trains on that side.
Blue Fire Guy
Great recent pics, thanks GCI! I love me some airgates, but I'm still a bit skeptical about that roof...this is CGA after all...right? Friday simply can't come soon enough, sooo excited for all the hot wonderfulness this season shall deliver! Â Edit: I spy a lift cog! Can you see it? Angry_Gumball
In the end we should have some amazing views of Gold Striker while queuing. I think my camera will be happy about that, especially being close to the track and having the train within view.  I can't wait for CGA this Friday just to reunite with the group, check out/shoot some gold porn, get my free souvenir cup, and of course ride the rides!  CGA will be opening the gates at 9:30 but everyone will be restricted to the carousel plaza for the ribbon cutting. Reminds me of what they'd do for Haunt, or what they did at the SFDK opening day. I'll be getting there early  Oh, the roof: its only there to shade the construction crew while they get the station completed... It'll be removed soon after... Tmcdllr
Invertigo had the airgates facing this way, but with seats facing both directions does that even count? Stealth also had the airgates on this side, but that one is gone too. Â And besides Invertigo, this looks like the first coaster here to not have the typical tube style CGA airgates, these are actually different. CGA_88
^ If you're waiting in line (behind the airgates) on Vortex, Flight Deck, Grizzly, Demon, AND Invertigo, the train exits the station towards your left. So no, Invertigo did not have its airgates facing this way. But in reality, it doesn't matter at all. As far as I know, the queue will parallel with the station flyby. Tmcdllr
Of course it doesn't really matter but it's a fun fact to discuss and it's very interesting that Stealth was the only major coaster to be the opposite, until now.
Angry_Gumball
I'm glad about the air gates not being the typical ones that most (if not all) the coasters have...complete with the hideous, oversized wood panels that were at a later date bolted on (Thanks OSHA). Angry_Gumball
^At least we aren't talking about ghosts again (like we did back in December 2011 ) Â Ok, ok...are my eyes really deceiving me? The station looks crooked! Well, the floor anyway Initially I was thinking this was the start of a ramp but it's too mild and would require several switchbacks if kept at that grade...and it isn't protruding out the side. I know that the track will have a slight slope but didn't really think about the floor being sloped as well, and not that steep of a slope for a platform. Â Maybe it's just sinking...moving on! Ok maybe I'm overthinking this and this is just so the train will roll out of the station when brakes release.
