Big Mike
Hello Fantastic Friends!!!   Today, The Big Mike Road Show 2008 brings to you the 99th park we visited last year, Disney's California Adventure!!!   After a long grueling season, The Big Mike Road Show also brings to you...   ... THE CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND OF FIND THE DUCKY!!!   We have reached the final two competitors for the right to earn the title "Big Mike Reader of the Year 2008"!!!   This is the Championship Round, and of course, it will be the hardest game to date!  Due to the Quarter Final Round also being so difficult and eliminating everyone but these two competitors, we have an EXTRA Find the Ducky game in the Big Mike Vault since we never did have a Semi Final Round.  So, that being said, here are the rules to become the Champion and win the free 2009 season pass:   This Find the Ducky Championship Round will be divided into two parts, this California Adventure report and the following Disneyland report.  Do not answer until the Disneyland report is posted!  When the Disneyland report posts, post your answer with the cumilative total of BOTH trip reports!!  You get ONE guess and the first person to guess the correct number will ALMOST be the Champion!  When someone guesses the correct number, I will then ask them to tell me where all the duckies are so the Championship is not decided by a lucky guess.  If that player CAN point out all the duckies, that player will be declared the CHAMPION!  If that player CANNOT point out all the duckies, then this game will be declared null and void and the "true" Final round will be taken out of the Big Mike Vault and played on the last trip report of the year, Six Flags New England - stop 105!   And now, the moment everyone has been waiting for!!!!!!     (Big Mike steps up to the Microphone)    "Good Evening Valuable Big Mike Readers!!!  It is now time to announce the competitors for The Big Mike Road Show Reader of the Year Find the Ducky Championships!!!   Up first, this competitor hails from Wisconsin....   ..... his first name is Patrick and he goes by the screen name of.....     TRAINCROSSIN!!!!!     Up second, this competitor hails from Germany by way of California...   ....his first name is James and he goes by the screen name of.....     TEAM THRILLER!!!!!!     Good luck to the both of you    Everyone else, please enjoy my trip report of California's Adventure and of course, don't give the ducky answers away!!!   Peace, Big Mike That's all from California Adventure except for my favorite picture of the day. Hope you enjoyed! Peace, Big Mike Here is Big Mike on the Tower of Terror updating all his Valuable Big Mike Readers! And of course, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror! Maliboomer drop tower. King Triton's Carousel. It's Tough to be a Bug. Soarin over California. Orange Stinger, a swing ride. Other rides at the park include this ferris wheel with swinging cars just like the Wonder Wheel at Coney Island. Of course the tortilla did not cut it, so I had to find some more food also. Free samples too! Located in the park, the Mission Tortilla Factory with a free tour. On my way to find free food, I took in the nice scenery. Credit #746 for Big Mike! Exclusive 2nd lift hill shot. Whee!!! The launch pad. The train. Ah, thats better! The good ole single rider line that puts me first in line! By now the crowd has arrived and Big Mike is not the type that usually sits in a long line, thus usually opting for the VIP lane. Lets see what we can do. It also has a loop. It launches into this semi-tunnel. Here it is launching. It is a launch coaster. Overview. California Screamin! Big Mike just wants to go on record saying this was a way cool ride! Big Mike loves shooters and is known by everyone on TPR as the TPR Shooter Champion, except for one fluke game vs. Dave (The Bat). On my way over to the other coaster, I luckily ran into Dane (gotdane) from TPR and he told me about the new Toy Story Mania and it will get way crowded later! Thanks Dane and awesome to meet you! The coaster is sponsered by Alamo, and the car rental return was a cool ending. Credit #745 for Big Mike! The lift. The cars. Overview. Mulholland Madness! I do always love when I get the whole park to myself! Just like the California Adventure sign outside, there seems to be a lot of candy corns inside as well. The prices. Disney's California Adventure, stop #99 on The Big Mike Road Show 2008!
Mechanic
I'm glad you got to see the park before the major construction started. Great pictures as always Big Mike. Good luck to the remaining ducky contestants.
packfanlv
Its nice to see California Adventure in its pre construction days. I almost forgot what Paradise Pier looks like when the water is in the bay. Thanks Big Mike!

traincrossin
Why did you have to have the final round at a park with so much yellow? Just kidding, but this will be a tough contest. Great pics of DCA Big Mike! I liked the picture of the two people holding on for dear life on the Twilight Zone. Can't wait for the next half of the report! traincrossin
Hey Big Mike. For the final round, do you want us to PM you our answers and tell you where the ducks are so the other contestant doesn't know?
Big Mike
Nope, just answer the NUMBER you think it is and then the other player has to answer a different number.  Then if one of you gets the orrect number, then I will ask you to post where you found them in the thread   Peace, Big Mike
Team Thriller
Big Mike,  I kinda agree with PMing you the final answer since I'm on a different time zone, which gives him an advantage. By PMing you will know we cannot cheat. Plus, gives us equal chance.  Your game though, just putting in my two cents  --James

Big Mike
Hello Valuable Big Mike Readers!!!  This is a magical trip report!!  Sure it is Disneyland, and Disney is always magical.  Sure it is the Final round of the Find the Ducky Championships.  Those are 2 great elements right there, but what makes this trip report so magical is that this is stop #100 on The Big Mike Road Show 2008!!!!  Visiting 100 parks was the goal starting the year, and amidst the doubting posts at the start of the thread, Big Mike came through and reached his goal  Thus, it is only logical that The Big Mike Road Show comes up with a very special guest star to be an honorary guest checker off-er of The Official Big Mike Road Show 2008 T-Shirt's 100th park visit!!!  I can't wait to show you who we got to do it!!!!   First though, we have finally come to the deciding moment!  The Find the Ducky Championship rides on this report!  Traincrossin and Team Thriller for the title!  Once this report posts, both of you PM me your guess on how many duckies are in both reports (California Adventure and Disneyland) and which pictures you found them in.  You both have 2 days to send me your answer. This is not a race to be first, it is a race to be correct. If both of you guess the correct answers, we have a FINAL round on trip report #105 for all the marbles. Same thing happens if you both send incorrect answers.  Good luck guys!   Now it is time for Big Mike to present Disneyland, stop #100 on The Big Mike Road Show 2008 and also a very special guest to help in the celebration!   Peace, Big Mike Mickey Mouse checks off a specially added box, 100 parks! Hope you enjoyed! Peace, Big Mike The exciting day wound down to a close and I would have loved to bring you some parade pictures, but I had to go meet the very special guest to check off that Big Mike succeeded in his 2008 goal to hit 100 parks. Even around the whole park, there was a lot of pumpkin art. Everywhere you looked were pumpkins. Oogie. The Haunted Mansion was themed for the holidays. The Haunted Mansion. Now that the coasters are completed, here are some other rides I enjoyed, like Splash Mountain. The only coaster here that is totally outdoors. The lift. Gadget's Go Coaster! Here are some various shots: Outside action. Inside action. This also takes place inside a mountain, and here it is. The train. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad! Some rare inside shots for the Valuable Big Mike Readers. The trains. Also an indoor coaster, housed in this familiar building. Space Mountain! Not sure which side it was, but it is definately credit #747 for Big Mike! Wetness. You can see here how the ride ends, with a splashdown into the water. I can only dream that they would race both sides. ... and very fun and exciting to pop outside this high up. Of course, it is dark and scary inside... The Matterhorn Bobsleds takes place inside and outside this mountain. ... and then the left side! Big Mike has now collected both sides for sure Having ridden this ride on my last visit to Disneyland before I got all caught up in my hobby of coaster collecting, I could not remember which side I rode. So, always being fair and accurate... I rode the right side... The car. As you can see here, there are 2 tracks, a left and a right. This counts as 2 credits according to the coaster superiors. The Matterhorn Bobsleds! I already have ridden the Matterhorn but still need the credit. How so you ask? I always enjoy being in the presense of the castle. The prices. Disneyland!
