RIP Psyclone Posted September 27, 2008 Author Posted September 27, 2008 And...let's try that again. Here's the song, so enjoy it before it gets pulled: Jack White & Alicia Keys - Another Way To Die (with lyrics!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qVoVFfnifQ
PointeBreak Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Wow, that's horrible. Worse than the one for Die Another Day. Is that the officially confirmed theme and version of it? Blerggggggggggggh.
TheBannedKid Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 I could care less if the song is horrible or not. What I want to know is will the movie be as great as it looks? I've never been a fan of the James Bond films, the cheesiness that is. I know, I know...that's what they are famous for but I am just glad that they are turning it around into an intense and much more serious action movie. I say strip the franchise and start anew, much like they have. Then you will be taking a step in the right direction. Just my opinion though, I know many fans like what the films have become. Not I.
Hotlanta Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 Here is video of "Another Way to Die". Still only average at best for me.
RIP Psyclone Posted October 1, 2008 Author Posted October 1, 2008 My favorite, On Her Majesty's Secret Service: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRpHpJ7FCHU
Manny In England Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 I wonder if they'll ever use the title of the film as the song title again.
RIP Psyclone Posted October 1, 2008 Author Posted October 1, 2008 With Casino Royale 2 years ago, I think they wanted to avoid comparisons with the 1967 Casino Royale: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0O5aA83GfYc And I think "Quantum Of Solace" as a song title just doesn't roll off the tongue.
PoisonedPirate Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 I think its really bad to be honest. It doesn't sound like a James Bond film at all! Even the Chris Cornell sounded "Bondyish" but this one is just a bad hip hop freaky weird thing. I was never a fan of Alicia Keys but she murdered this. Go back to Shirley and Tina lol!
Manny In England Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 ^ Agree about Tina, Goldeneye was my favorite of the first 20 films.
Hotlanta Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 ^ You English get to see the movie a full two weeks ahead of everybody. Needless to say i am very jealous. They are even releasing the movie on Nov.7th in India, a week ahead of the U.S
Manny In England Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 ^ Oh come now, it's like our one early release to your hundred.
Hotlanta Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Two new clips have surfaced from the actual movie, there is no real way to embed them so here they are : The first one has Mathis and Bond reminiscing, here it is: http://video.msn.com/video.aspx?mkt=en-US&vid=8b37aa58-4d9d-4ec1-a32d-3377954dc5f5 The second one is between M & Bond: http://www.moviefone.com/movie/quantum-of-solace/26922/trailer?trailerId=2280450
terrancew_hod Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 I think its really bad to be honest. It doesn't sound like a James Bond film at all! Even the Chris Cornell sounded "Bondyish" but this one is just a bad hip hop freaky weird thing. I was never a fan of Alicia Keys but she murdered this. Go back to Shirley and Tina lol! Amen. I think they found the "brown note" during the recording, because I had to run to the bathroom to pass a little gas. Yeeeck! They sounded a hot mess. Terry
ms13 Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 ^Well, John Favreau did go from directing Elf, to Zathura to Iron Man, which is just a slightly different genera of movie, so I'll give Forster a chance. Everybody was doubting Favreau, and he made the second biggest movie of 2008!, so hopefully Mark does well. I really hope....after Casino Royale, every bond film has to be good, as it set the bar so high. PS- The time doesn't really bother me. Royale was to long, and could have been edited down A LOT! PSS- I'm the opposite of everyone else. I use to really like the new theme, but now its just sorta boring and uninteresting. Boy do I like my changing opinions!
Hotlanta Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 What are the opinions of our English friends? I have been quite surprised none of you posted anything. How about some first person feedback fellas?
mash80 Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 ^Was going to go see it last weekend but wasn't really prepared and in the end it was sold out at my local multiplex Been very busy since unfortunately but with a bit of luck may get around to seeing it this week. If I do I'll certainly let you know what I thought!
RIP Psyclone Posted November 9, 2008 Author Posted November 9, 2008 Yes, you folks have had it for over a week now!
TheRapidsNerd Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 I know the creative powers are trying to make the series more relevant and appeal to the current generation, but I'm not impressed. This new bond strays from some of the fun and humor that helped make the series. Not everything works with the gritty realism treatment. Call me crazy, but movies used to be escapism entertainment that took you away from your problems for a couple hours, not remind you of them. Plus this new fellow falls in with Timothy Dalton, in that he just doesn't feel like James Bond. To be fair, it doesn't help that I grew up on Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan. Of course, Connery is indelled to many as the true James Bond, and he's a tough act to follow. Anyway, this one doesn't suck, but I just can't get into it the way I could more of the earlier films.
Hotlanta Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 Just came back from the movie and there was something missing in this movie. The movie felt more like Bourne and very little like Bond. I am not asking for vanishing cars and all that nonsense but if you show somebody the movie without the titles nobody would guess it's a Bond flick. It's a good action movie but lacks the depth of Casino Royale.
rcdude Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 I saw this movie yesterday and thought it was a good movie. However, most of the action sequences seemed more like something out of the Bourne trilogy (especially in the first half hour or so) than a traditional Bond action sequence. As the movie went on it shifted more toward a traditional Bond movie but is not quite the same as Casino Royale. The biggest problem with this movie is that it has way too much action for its running time. The movie is only 106 minutes but it has the amount of action you would expect from a movie with more than a two-hour running time. It addition, some of the action sequences were confusing and hard to follow due to the camera work. As I said to my brother after seeing the film, it was a good movie but I doubt it would make it into any best of James Bond collections.
TheStig Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 As a Bond film, I hated it. But as a movie, I liked it. The new Bond films (well the last two) have fallen in to the "Transporter" style movies, as I like to say. It just isn't Bond anymore! There are no awesome gadgets, no crazy awesome villains, and no awesome but cheesy lines!!!
coasterdude5 Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 ^ But wasn't that getting a bit old? I watched Die Another Day on Spike last night and I was thinking, "this is laughable". Casino Royale was a relaunch of the franchise. They're moving in a new direction and I see nothing wrong with it. However, I can see where you are coming from. I'm one that usually likes to keep things the way they are but for some reason I'm alright with this new style of Bond.
gisco Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 I have to agree with some of what has already been said. Some of the action scenes where hard to follow. A lot like Bourne. I liked the film but the story was a little hard to follow. I was a little bummed that the movie didn't start with the look through the gun barrel and had that at the end. Where were the gadgets that make Bond, Bond and he never said "Bond, James Bond" Maybe I just like the old movies to much.
Teacups Make Me Sick Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 It stunk. Daniel Craig is HOOOOTTTTT…and he looks good in a suite. There were too many continuity issues that I couldn’t get past to enjoy the movie.
cfc Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 The movie was a bit better than I thought it would be, but I agree with what Bob said about the action scenes--all the quick cuts just heighten the confusion and make the movie a bit harder to follow. The villain and bond girls were pretty weak, too. I did like the "mother-son" relationship between Bond and M.
