Ok, flipping through channels today, TBS blew me out of my socks. What are they showing right now, November 10th? Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas. It seems this particular year, we've decided to hop right over Thanksgiving right to Christmas. Any one else feeling this too? I like like holidays as much as the next person, but this feels far too early.

Thanksgiving isn't as big commercially as Christmas. Think about it, what can you buy for Thanksgiving? Turkey, Cards, and a little decor. Christmas has Decorations that people would spend thousands of dollars for, Christmas Gifts to buy, and Other things. Sad but true, everything that can be commercialized is, and what isn't is being not promoted.

Thanksgiving is the neglected holiday, although football seems to be the "Thanksgiving special."

I just wonder why I saw Christmas decorations by the Halloween decorations this year. I feel like Charlie Brown and saying Christmas is too commercialized!

If you want to see a movie for Thanksgiving, check out "What's Cooking?" I'd recommend it for Turkey Day viewing!

I'm not exactly sure what it is you expect from Thanksgiving??? There really aren't many TV programs (unlike Christmas) dedicated to it.

When it comes to Thanksgiving, the only TV program that is of interest to most people is Football! Usually the Dallas Cowboys Vs. Whomever..........

Although they have been a few good movies about Thanksgiving, I believe it's not as much of a "season." You really don't start thinking about Thanksgiving until the day before, maybe. Christmas you look forward to for some time (unless you hate your family.)

Its sad that we are already celebrating for Christmas in november... But hey! Christmas, and hanukkah, and kwanzaa combined are probably the most celebrated holiday there is so i can understand why everyone starts to celebrate so early.

^Or get dual citizenship and celebrate both.

My family used to do that all time time. (all of my family are American, I'm the only one with a Canadian/US citizenship)

We only really celebrate once now however, as all of my siblings are married with kids of their own. So it's harder to get everyone together now.

Thanksgiving is so underrated in my opinion, yet the holiday still holds true to it's self for the most part instead of feeling like some huge money-making festival of a holiday. And today, it dawned on me that Thanksgiving is this following week. Which means, a day of playing Wii all day with the family...something that made Thanksgiving stand out last year.

Give it time. Pretty soon that'll turn up in July or August...

Yeah, Christmas advertising does come earlier each year...It doesn't change my mood about Thanksgiving though! I still love poor old Thanksgiving! I may not get gifts, but I really like this time of year...days off school, lots of food around, chilling with family... Yeah, it pretty much rocks, and advertising is just a little annoyance. Nothing more.

Best part about Thanksgiving, is that when it's over, you know another awesome holiday is coming up!!

It is sad because last night I watched The Santa Clause, and I don’t ever like to think of Christmas before thanksgiving. I LOVE thanksgiving.. mmm all that food lol I think Christmas celebrations start earlier and earlier each year. Lol but lets face it. Its really not that far off, I guess I better start shopping!

Personally I enjoy Thanksgiving more than Christmas... Sadly this year I have finals a week after Thanksgiving, so it still remains to be seen what I'm going to be doing that day.

Thanksgiving just means it is almost time to put up the Christmas decor. Also, good food. I think I have 3 Thanksgiving Dinners this year. My Church's, My Grandma's, and my Dad's.

Everyone keeps saying Christmas is coming earlier every year... is there another December 25th I don't know about?

...That having been said, I just put up all the decorations in my room. Shiny.

Wow I was just at the mall and all the xmas decorations are up, xmas songs are being played, and there was Santa with a giant line for pictures!!!

Crazy!

1 thing that was forgotten: Leftovers! Can't go wrong with having another Thanksgiving dinner the next day after setting up Xmas decorations. Unless ofcourse, you wipe out everything on Thanksgiving. (We usually have leftovers for a couple days...mmm..)

^Haha, most definitely! Leftovers always seem to taste better the second day, IMO. mmmm! We make turkey sandwiches.

I started working at a discount grochery store a couple months ago and I'm a little nervous, however. It seems like the crowds are already starting to come. Everything is always so hectic there when it's crowded! I hope it doesn't get interrupt my holidays...

I am still waiting for the day that you can start buying your christmas stuff along with your day-after close-out fireworks from the 4th of July.

Personally, I love Thanksgiving. Nothing like getting up and going with my step-dad down the street to the elementry school field and playing football with a buch of middle-aged men complaining about how they hurt more every year! Always a good time with him and his fellow faculty members. After that, we would go home, and watch whatever game is on while the food is being made.

Although it seems like we always have a different combination of family for thanksgiving every year, never the same group two years in a row. I am still looking forward to it though.

Hell, local stores were putting out the Christmas decorations for sale before Halloween.

The whole holiday is a construct of the 19th century based on a heavily mythologized view of the Pilgrims; that being said, I do love a good roast turkey dinner.
