ItsDavidU Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 I looked on RCDB and it says it has zero inversions, but the pictures clearly show the train going "upside down". I would love to ride this, since it's the only kind (that I know of) that's designed like this. http://www.rcdb.com/ig1143.htm?picture=8 What do you think?
IceDragon Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 It depends on what you feel it is. It's like inversions on a boomerang. 'Are there 6 or only 3?' I don't think it is, but thats just my opinion.
deathmole Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 Can't see why it isn't classed as an inversion - doesn't matter that it's a shuttle type thing, weird RCDB interpretations of "inversions" there IMO.
easytoremember Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 looks like a pretty much textbook inversion to me
Coasterlvr_nc Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 goes upside down, its an inversion to me!
robbalvey Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 My guess it's just a simple mistake and the information was not updated from when the coaster was modified. Give Duane a break! That's a hell of a site to keep up to date and having a little mistake like that really isn't that big of a deal! --Robb
holyblakbelt Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 I think it looks like an inversion besides the fact that it is partially inclined. I can tell this debate is going to be a good one though
PURE Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 ^^I was gonna say the same thing. You go upside down. Its an inversion. If you read the history it explains why it may not have been updated after its modifications.
larrygator Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 Well it is a strange one as the riders at the end the train don't twist as much. If memory serves me correctly those in the rear of the train are never completely rotated a full 180 degrees and never fully upside down. I guess it depends on how rcdb defines an inversion.

Going from this picture...it seems as if the entire train travels through the inversion.
JuanSe_Colombia Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 I was asking that too a little weeks ago. I think it counts as an inversions your complete upsidedown judging for the pictures.
asr Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 I haven't rode it, but I am sure it feels like an inversion on ride. It is certainly more of an inversion than Hydra's inclined dive loop. Does anyone have a POV of the ride? And also, did anyone here ride it before it was modified?
exit english Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 ^ Not that particular one, but I have been on Superman/Steel Venom and the V2 at SFGrAm, which are the exact ride that the "modified" one was. -Josh
kraken613 Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 Mystery Mine has a inclined inline twist. They consider it an inversion!
coasterdude5 Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 I've wondered this before, but I just threw it off as maybe the train isn't fully inverted (it is at an angle). Not a big deal, but it has entered the brain a few times...
Loco Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 Hasn't this been discussed thousands of times? Well anyways Even though the roll is at an angle, when your on it, it doesn't really feel like your at an angle. So I count it as an inversion.
KGA29 Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 I have ridden it and can say for a fact that you go upside down no matter where you sit. Some cars go upside down more than others (front cars get it on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd launch, while very back seats get fully inverted only on the 2nd launch). It is an inversion. Plain and simple.
larrygator Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Going from this picture...it seems as if the entire train travels through the inversion. OK can someone confirm if V2 still goes that far up the inclined spike as that is probably an old picture. I don't think it did for my, so I've either last my mind or memory and my visit to SFDK was only a week ago.
Rollerholden Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 ^ I just rode it lastnight and it was going about that far up. As far as the whole inversion debate goes, I say yes.
Godwyn Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 I'm with Robb. It's just a mistake, cause V2 at Six Flags Great America does not invert because it goes vertical on the twist.
larrygator Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 damn - I need to stop drinking to save the few remaining brain cells
V2-dude Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 V2's full cycle (plus you get to watch a fat kid try to climb in!): youtube.com/watch?v=TznBrjSOM1I
Purplepills Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Well at least the little kid made it eventually, its good excercise for him. And yes I call that an inversion, since the whole train gets inverted in a full cycle.
verticalzero Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 If your feet go above your head it's an inversion. So a Boomerang does this 6 times, 3 forwards and 3 backwards
asr Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 V2's full cycle (plus you get to watch a fat kid try to climb in!): youtube.com/watch?v=TznBrjSOM1I It's not just because he is fat, impulses are kinda hard to get into. You really have to pull yourself up because they lack a the dropping floor that most inverts have.
