I saw You're Next last night at a preview.

This is one of the WORST movies I have ever seen in my life. I am a HUGE horror movie buff but this one was just bad. The acting is terrible in it and the dialogue is not even how normal people talk. The dialogue seemed like something out of a bad Lifetime movie. Least that is what the people I sat with and I thought. Since it was a free preview many people got up and left half way into the movie. They dramatized the parts they should not have and did not on the parts they should have. Don't even let me get started with the music. NONE of the music made sense for this movie. We figured out what was going on before any secrets were revealed. The last thing is it should not have been called You're Next. This title has NOTHING to do with the movie.

Definitely a Redbox movie.

I rented the Blu-rays of The Impossible, Life of Pi and Wreck-It Ralph over the week-end, the latter for my kids. I thoroughly enjoyed all of them though, Wreck-It Ralph was a really cool storyline and had great animation, The Impossible was absolutely powerful in the beginning, just thought about my own kids and how many lives were lots, amazing how real they made the tsunami look. Life of Pi was my fave of the three though, the 1.85:1 aspect ratio really was great for this presentation and even on my 50" TV (ie - compared to if I had a nice 65" plasma or 80"+ projector) there was a great sense of immersion. Really unique film, must read the book someday as my wife said it was great too.

I watched "Upside Down" the week-end before and really thought it was rubbish to be honest. The 3D effects were good, but the opening narration, the super hyper dramatic music when we haven't even gotten emotionally involved in the story yet, nothing worked for me.

Pain & Gain. Decent at best, and despite what the trailer suggests it's absolutely not a comedy. Some funny bits but a lot of (sometimes gruesome) violence, made worse by the constant reminders that this is based on a true story. First time I've asked a girl mid-film if she wanted to leave...

I am currently watching "Vehicle 19" with Paul Walker, I've seen him in some bad stuff before, but wow, I'm only 20 minutes into the movie and I'm really hoping for him to die a really horrible death. Somehow I don't think I'm going to get my wish.

Just finished watching it.

Horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible....etc,etc movie.

This is actually the first bad review I've herd for this movie. Everyone else says its crafty, scary, unpredictable but your review makes me wonder.

Saw Elysium last night.

*sigh*... another disappointment of the 2013 summer season. It's political allusions were so thick and overbearing and the plot was too rote and cliche to rise above it.There are a few good performances including Sharlto Copley and the breakout of this film, Wagner Moura, and from a technical standpoint, everything is tops. Still, I can't bring myself to like it. It's a good movie, barely so, but I hated every preachy let-us-think-for-you moment of it. B- overall, and part of that is generosity for the director leftover from "District 9".

It is the only bad review I have read too (sadly my own review) lol I just think its really bad. The acting is so bad in it. Also keep in mind I am not into mixing horror and comedy. I do not want to give anything away but I want to share how I feel about so many scenes.

Went and saw Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters the other day. I'm a fan of the book series but was pretty let down, scratch that, extremely let down with the first movie. This one doesn't try so hard to be the next Harry Potter series and is just a lot of fun. Nathan Fillion's cameo as Hermes was a huge highlight. He has a hilarious little joke that any Firefly fan would love. Fun movie all around, check it out if you're at all into the Fantasy book adaptations.

Oh! And it was awesome to see SFNO in the big finale of the film.

Good lord, The World's End was so awesome. There were moments I couldn't breathe I was laughing so hard. I have a hard time ranking it over Hot Fuzz as that is one of my all time favorite films, but this one seriously did not disappoint.

Speaking of not disappointing, how great is Edgar Wright's track record? His films have struggled at the box office, but they are always so well done and entertaining. Hot Fuzz and Scott Pilgrim are films I could watch repeatedly and never tire of. I cannot wait to see what he does with Ant Man.

Saw Elysium this last weekend. Not impressed. was ok but wouldn't pay to see it again or buy the DVD when it comes out.

Yeah, I saw it a few days ago as well and thought the same thing. It was ok. I thought Matt Damon was a little odd in it.

Saw Percy Jackson as well. Same type of movie as the first one, but at least this time they followed the story more. If I didn't read the books I don't think I would have liked it.

I agree. A few too many plot holes for a film that's seems like it's trying to make some sort of political point.

Saw Kick-Ass 2 on the weekend. Not good. Where the first was somewhat inventive and edgy, this sequel was a paint-by-numbers gross-out flick that took itself far too seriously. Probably the first real turkey I've seen in a while.

Watched the Green Mile for the first time on Saturday:

The Green Mile is a great movie. The acting is incredible. I have to say that the best performance in this movie goes to either Tom Hanks or Sam Rockwell. Sam Rockwell portrayed his character extremely well and he really made you hate him. This movie is very emotional and has quite a few depressing parts in it. This is a movie is one that must be seen.

Watching X-Men: The Last Stand on Friday and Olympus Has Fallen on Saturday, so I'll have reviews for those.

Saw We're The Millers tonight. It was much funnier than I expected. I found myself laughing quite a bit, even sitting next to a really obnoxious Vegas stripper (who got really offended at some of the stripper stuff in it). All in all it was a solid comedy.

Also watched Olympus Has Fallen the other day. It was actually a really solid action flick. It had it's very silly moments, but a fun movie none the less.

I saw Getaway this past Tuesday. This movie comes out this Friday to the general public and stars Ethan Hawke and Selena Gomez. Both Ethan and Selena play their characters well. Selena has a way about her that just does not seem odd that she is so young. Her voice is strong in this movie. The filming however is TERRIBLE in this one. It seems extremely low budget even though a name brand movie company (Warner Brothers) picked it up. Its seemed like a toned down Fast and the Furious. The crash scenes seemed extremely fake and very staged. Also how can a car drive all night at speeds up 90 and 100 miles per hour and NEVER run out of gas. I could see if this was a Prius, but its a Shelby! Also the movie is based around Christmas and is coming out Labor Day weekend. That does not make sense to me and just did not feel right.

X-Men: The Last Stand - I know the big issue with this movie was the lack of character development. I do agree that character development could have been better. However, this movie was very intense at some points and had exciting action to it. Yes, there were some ridiculous parts (The Juggernaut and Kitty Pryde). Overall, I had enjoyed the movie and I am going to give it an 8/10.

Olympus Has Fallen - If only Liam Neeson was there instead of Gerard Butler...

Anyways, this movie is a great popcorn action flick that does have plenty of suspense to add to it. The movie is very intense and very bloody. Exciting action with solid CGI and good performances from the whole cast. 8/10

I watched The Shawshank Redemption last night. It was an INCREDIBLE movie, I absolutely loved it. It was almost 3 hours, but every minute was interesting and I never felt bored. Anyone looking for good movie should definitely watch this movie. It's just amazing. And it's only 2.99 on Apple TV.

Did a double feature of Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure and Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey last night after getting back from Wisconsin Dells. These movies are so firmly a product of their time, and yet they have held up tremendous in their overall goofy charm. They are the kind of films that could only have been made when they were made.
