Airtime&Gravity
Since the 2008 announcements are coming fast, here is a quick way to find the project you are looking for. If you notice I've missed something, please say, and it will be added. This topic will be edited as the off season goes on and will have a brief statement on the latest update. Assuming this doesn't get locked, if a mod would be able to help with the updates, then all the better. As I said earlier, this is not finished, so anything you think would help is appreciated. This is not a topic to place rumors, but once the initial hype goes away, this is meant to provide a quick way to the project you want if you have something to add to its topic. Tony Hawk's Big Spin Six Flags is building more of these popular coasters at Six Flags over Texas and Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. They will be identical to the other two already built. The Texas one is gaining a reputation for getting Texan members upset due to the fact that there will be two five hours apart. SFOT SFDK Dark Knight A trio of indoor wild mouse coasters are being built at SFGADV, SFNE, and SFGAM. Riders will be tormented by the Joker as they go through Gotham City. They will then board the coaster in a run down rail station for a high speed family coaster. SFNE SFGADV SFGAM Fahrenheit Hershey Park will open an Intamin looping coaster with a 97* drop and a unique dive loop. There will also be a cobra roll, airtime hills, and two corkscrews in a relatively short ride. Hershey Park Thomas Town(SFoG) SFOG will replace the problematic Deja vu with a new kiddie area called Thomas Town. The area will feature rides themed to the various vehicles associated with the children's character. SFoG Wiggles World/Wild Wedgie The Great Escape will open the fourth Wiggles World and what is thought to be a water coaster similar to Deluge. Great Escape Great America's New Ride It is widely believed that Great America will build a relocated top spin from Geauga Lake. Great America Evel Knievel A new GCI will open up at SFSTL, and will be the parks third wooden coaster. With a length of 2,700ft, a height of 82ft, and a top speed of 50mph, this is sure to be a great ride. Goliath[/b] Six Flags Fiesta Texas will reopen the relocated Batman: The Ride from SFNO under the name Goliath. The coaster has come under criticisim for being a clone, near Great White another Batman clone, and five hours from SFOT which also has a Batman. Voodoo Geauga Lake's former LIM impulse coaster has found a new home at Dorney Park. The ride will be called voodoo, and when it opens, it will be the park's second fastest coaster. Dorney Heart Beat Tobu Zoo, a park in Japan will open a mini hyper for the 2008 season. However, it will still have plenty of thrills as it has several airtime hills and many tight turns. Tobu Everland Coaster Everland will open another Intamin wooden coaster that can best be described as if El Toro and Balder some how had a kid. Standing over a mile in length, this will be the longest Intamin wooden coaster, and given how its cousins are, there will be airtime to the end. Everland Ravine Flyer II Waldameer will finally open the long awaited Ravine Flyer II next year. A Gravity Group coaster, Ravine Flyer II will feature highly banked turns, airtime, and will be divided in half by a road. Waldameer Behemoth All I pretty much have to say is that Canada's Wonderland gets a good coaster...too bad Cedar Fair will trim it to hell. Canada's Wonderland Piraten Same as Heartbeat, but this is at a park in Denmark called Djurs Sommerland. Djurs Jungala Jungala will go where Python once was, and a lot will be packed into a small area. A participatory play area, animal exhibits, and a few family rides will all be in this heavily themed area. Oh yeah, it probably helps if I say this will be built at Busch Gardens Africa. BGA Hard Rock Park Hard Rock Park is a major amusement park being built in Myrtle Beach. The park will have the latest rides, great theming, shows, and it should open next April. This is the latest update thread, if you find the main one, please post it. Hard Rock Park Mammoth Railroad Gardaland will open a a new mine train next year with a name and theme that got the most votes in a poll....Sorry, there is not much else is known at this time. Gardaland Holiday World Expansion Holiday World will build a water play area called Kima Bay in Splashin Safari, and as of now, an unknown attraction in the ride park. Holiday World Thunderhawk Michigan's Adventure will open Geauga Lake's former SLC, which went by the same name, in 2008. So yeah...a SLC...I know it sucks, but at least the park is building a coaster for the first time in like 10 years. Another SLC Thomas Town(SFMM) Just like the one at SFoG, but this one, located at SFMM, will occupy the site that was once used to hold fire wood. SFMM Nick Universe The Park at MOA, formerly Camp Snoopy, is being rethemed to Nickelodeon. Along with a new name, $30 million worth of new rides will be added including a drop tower, euro-fighter roller coaster and half pipe roller coaster. Nick Universe Adventure Island Adventureland, a park in the middle of Iowa, will be adding a water play area called Adventure Island. This will be the largest expansion since Outlaw Gulch, but the park is being sued by Cedar Fair for having such a large area of concrete. Adventure Island Unknown I know I said I wouldn't list rumors, but since it is just about confirmed... Indiana Beach will build S&S's first El Loco coaster. Indiana Beach Vertical Coaster Chimelong Paradise will build B&M's fifth dive machine, and at just below 200ft in height, it will be China's tallest coaster. It will have at least one inversion, an immelmann, and two vertical drops Chimelong Paradise Unknown Kennywood will build a new dark ride. Kennywood Pony Express Knott's will open their second coaster in two years, and it's a throwback to the old Soapbox Derby Racer. Although it will not race, Pony Express will have steeplechase style cars and feature low to the ground elements. Knotts Peanuts Playground Cedar Point will expand/rebuild one of their kiddielands using old kiddie rides from Geauga Lake. Cedar Point
kraxleRIDAH
Anything missing? For starters, you might want to spell the ride names correctly. Evel Knievel. Wiggles World --- it's not possessive. Tony Hawk's Big Spin --- this one is possessive. It doesn't really matter, I'm just giving you a hard time. Golfie
I've been seeing a LOT about SFGAm, but nothing official yet. They finally figured out that people come to SFGAm for the coasters, not the family-friendly environment, so they're trashing the Thomas the Tank Engine plans and might be getting 2 big attractions over the next 2 years (maybe even a dive machine for '09)
Kevinj
Cedar Point is up to something as well. One teasing blog post by T & T about 3 weeks ago that left everyone hanging; of course it could be for project 2009 as well, as there is typically 2 years between coasters. robbalvey
Agreed this is really nice, but let's keep this links to projects that have announced. I see no need to add a link to CP's "Hole in the ground" just yet. I also do not want this thread to end up becoming the next "rumor super thread." So, if something is announced and is being discussed, add the link, otherwise, discuss it in the rumor superthread. Make sense? --Robb
