spaceace12
Being the winners of quite possibly the worst season from a single division in the history of the NFL really isn't much to be proud about. I despise the Patriots, but it's a crime that an 8-8 team made it into the playoffs over an 11-5 team. That is just how it goes. By that mark, the Colts should be playing Chargers in Indy, but since they go by 1-4 is division winners and 5,6 and wild cards, it sucks. Besides the Titans, the Colts have the second best record in the playoffs.
BeemerBoy
^ I actually think the NFL should begin to think about situating the standings in a way similar to the NHL. There should be a way that the top 8 teams in each conference, regardless of division, go to the dance. Also, which Eagles fan is delegated as the one to remind your idiot QB that there are no ties in the playoffs?
Hercules
^^Cassel is good, but is not 1/2 of Brady was. The Pats are winning and stand a chance to get in, albeit, a very slim one. I think Cassel will not be with the Pats next year. Brady is thier star QB, the only way I see them getting rid of Brady is if isn't what he used to be. Brady's first season as a starter: 2843 yards, 63.9% completions, 18TD/12INT, 86.5 passer rating. Matt's current season: 3615 yards, 63.2% completions, 21TD/11INT, 89.2 passer rating. They could even finish with identical regular season records after their first season (11-5).... It's also worth noting Bledsoe had just signed his fat 10 year contract as the "star" of the Pats when Brady took over... Side note: I don't really care for the NFL or the Pats. But since I've known Matt and his brothers for a long time (Chatsworth High School/Northridge Litte League FTW), I have to follow him. Not to mention, in his second season and first full year as a starter, the Patriots went 9-7, losing to the Dolphins in the last game of the season. Sure, they won the Super Bowl the season before, so not making the playoffs the next year doesn't really mean to much, but Brady didn't singlehandedly do it all - Bledsoe came in during the AFC Championship when Brady got injured and put on a solid show to help them get to the Super Bowl. And Brady never would have gotten a shot unless Bledsoe didn't get leveled in that game against the Jets. But anyway, since a bunch of other people are doing their fight songs: Hail to the Redskins! Hail Victory! Braves on the Warpath! Fight for old D.C.! Run or pass and score -- we want a lot more! Beat 'em, Swamp 'em, Touchdown! -- Let the points soar! Fight on, fight on 'Til you have won Sons of Wash-ing-ton. Rah!, Rah!, Rah! Hail to the Redskins! Hail Victory! Braves on the Warpath! Fight for old D.C.! Yes, I know they didn't make the playoffs, but I am still loyal. And I like a Colts - Giants Super Bowl this year, with the Falcons and Ravens as possible surprises. BeemerBoy
^ Jay, I applaud your loyalty. I know the off-season for many teams is young, but any odds on which potential pain-in-the-arse trouble maker Jerry Jones might be looking to acquire for next year's underachieving Cowboys squad? chmilo24
^I know biggest turnaround in NFL history. I bet the Lions are going to go 19-0 next year, or at least get a Wild Card spot. --Chris
DevilSaint
Totally agreed Beemer. The division winner getting an automatic playoff spot when there were 2/3 divisions was fine but being the best out of only 4 teams should not earn you a playoff spot. I say top 2 divison winners get byes and the next 6 teams are based purely on records would be the way to go.
Josh Davidson
First time since 1981 all four major teams in Philadelphia went to the postseason in the same year, and for the Eagles.... spaceace12
MVP announcement time. Who was? Philip Rivers? Adrian Peterson? Chad P. from the Dolphins. Nope, now Three time MVP Peyton Manning. Even if I wasn't a Colts fan, I would have said it would have been him. To go from a crap team in the beg. to a playoff contendor with 9 wins in a row. Jew
Even if I wasn't a Colts fan, I would have said it would have been him. To go from a crap team in the beg. to a playoff contendor with 9 wins in a row. Oh right. Chad Pennington is just the QB for the greatest turnaround in NFL history. Of course Peyton Manning was the undisputed MVP. Not saying that "p-money" didn't deserve it, but you're kidding yourself if you are trying to say that is an unbiased comment. Anyways... DOWN WITH THE BCS! Oh, sorry. Wrong level of football!
