p. 433: AlpenFury launched coaster announced for 2025!

Anyone know what kind of lines AlpenFury is getting on weekends now and how the park is handling that line at the end of the night? Is the queue closing early or can people pour on in right up to park close? Thanks

On weekdays, there's a sign that the queue closes as early as 9pm. For my 2 days at the park this week, it closed at 9 on Tuesday, about 9:30 on Wednesday. Standby hovered around 2 hours all day. FL+ 30-45 minutes. And standby is mostly uncovered.

Side note: AlpenFury was my 300th coaster.

I have a opinion on Alpen fury that I would like to share, I have been able to get 8 rides on it and it is  one of the better coasters I have ridden in memory. This thing really kicks A**.' I mean world class. I am not saying that lightly,. It is insane and smooth as ****.  Other than the poor capacity this ride delivers more than even sirens curse or TT2 in excellence..  It is really that good. Up until now, maverick was the best at launches  for me and that is hard for me say as as Maverick is my favorite launch coaster ( to be fair, I have not ridden velociioaster).  I am attempting to put together a trip report of wonderland and Toronto in general as this park is grossly under appreciated.

That's great to hear! It'll be my first ever visit to this park tomorrow and my anticipation is running quite high. Already budgeted to get fastlane passes as well after all the reports of long lines. I'll report back as well.

Fast lane is a must here. Even yesterday with rain all day the lines for the major coasters were 1-2 hours. I suggest hit alpen Fury early as the fast lane was still 30-45 minutes yesterday and on monday it was over a hour with fast lane.

I got my first ride on alpenfury yesterday, what an amazing coaster. They recently installed a metal detector next to the automatic bin system inside the station. If you don’t feel comfortable leaving your loose articles unsecured make sure to rent a locker outside the queue entrance. I was the only person renting a locker during rope drop so it was a fast process and it only costed $3. I managed to get on the ride in under 30 minutes without any issues afterwards. Just something to keep in mind if you plan to go.

The trains from Professor Screammore's Skywinder of the now closed Six Flags America have been shipped to Canada's Wonderland for use on Flight Deck!

I am excited about this as these trains from Vekoma greatly improve the ride experience! 🙂

Great news! If I am not mistaken, these trains from SFA were only 8 cars long. I am curious if Canada's Wonderland is purchasing additional cars so this does not reduce Flight Deck's current capacity. We know Canada's Wonderland needs all the capacity they can get!

While I'd normally be a fan of this kind of news, not in this instance as it seems to signal that the park intends to keep Flight Deck around for that much longer. The park could do better than a basic SLC and at say, Michigan's Adventure, these trains would be much more well received.

Travis Swift doesn't seem to care much about the mid-smaller parks enough to do anything with them. No need to send them to Michigan's Adventure just to send them to a flagship park later on if the park eats shit along with SFA.

Maybe they can send wonderlands worn out old trains to mia for parts cars?  :)

it was always fun to fly into the final brake run with half of the upstop wheels spinning because they dont all touch the track at the same time.

I'm going here for the first time in 2026, I'm looking at May. I know this park can get mighty busy so:

What types of crowds could be expected for Monday May 25? its a free day off for me and I assume Canada doesn't celebrate US Memorial Day LOL but I dont know if school is out by then? Any thoughts?

In general, when is best to minimize crowds in May? Weekdays are open for me. I know later in month is generally warmer but I do want to balance minimizing crowds. Esp as I know Alpen Fury doesn't have the greatest capacity.

And is there any general advice for the park? Any and all is welcomed.

Thanks!

My general advice is to buy fast lane plus no matter when you go, busiest six flags park period, never been there where I didn"t absolutely need it. I have found that both thursday and friday from open until about 2 P.M. are the slowest, even with FLP it:s nuts, after 3 P.M., fuhgeddaboudit. All of our (U.S ) holidays are always slammed there. I have tried spring, U.S. holidays, summer, fall, Canadian holidays and every weekday, ect. I am not local, but live just across the border in NY and go frequently. I go to Cedar point more often and this place is just busier always, just no relief of crowds ever. All of that being said, great park in a great city. FLP here is very much like Kings Island as the FLP lines are generally short , less Alpen fury (average of 45 minute FLP wait), everything else is 5 to15 minute wait.  My best park attack is to get your FLP first thing as the line just for the FLP can be 30 minutes and you can only purchase from 3 locations in the park (Main entrance, by Leviathan and a little kiosk back near Yukon Striker) the latter 2 do not open at gate drop, only after FLP can be used. Hit up Alpen Futy as the lines will never get shorter, ever. Then go either to Yukon Striker and behemoth (there are way more rides back there), or go marathon Leviathan. If you want to ride the non FLP rides, hit them up first, as gaurdians and thunder run, ect., the lines just get insane. This park is really awesome and I hope you have a great trip. If you have time , the city in itself is awesome, so much to enjoy.

Damn, even in let's say mid May?? I know the park is pretty slamming but that's wild. Guess good news is it may not really matter than and I might as well go Memorial day to capitalize on the free day off. Appreciate all the info! FLP can it be purchased ahead of time or is day of the only way?
And oh yes, I'm looking forward to it and I plan to spend time in Toronto and I'll be coming from Montreal (which will be my first time there) so both the park and overall trip I am stoked.

On may 24 weekend we celebrate victoria day for queen victorias birthday. (She is dead now but we still celebrate) it is the first long weekend of the summer.

Alpenfury is great. Its line is not. Last year they were sending 2x more fastlane people through than general population, so it takes a long time.

Ah, so extra packed I assume? I did see that Holiday but I misread, thought it was the 18th. Well given that, is perhaps later that week (the 26th to 29th) better?
It's not set in stone but I'm thinking of going to the Canadian GP, that Sunday, so another reason I was kinda aiming for that weekend. Ofc I'd head down from Montreal to Toronto so that whole week of the 25th is open.

We normally get the day off on the monday of the long weekend, so May 25 in this case.

If you waited for the tuesday or later in the week it may be better.

It looks like Wonderland starts daily operations the week before. Normally early season weekdays are quieter unless schools are having class trips. It is a nice time of year to go.

reach out closer to the date, and if i have time i can meet up if you like.

Yeah that’s usually been my experience, I’ve caught some near dead days even at Kings Island but I know this park is esp crowded. Sounds good, I’ll message you when it’s closer/settled on a time.

Visited for the first time last summer -- crazy crowds (but friendly, because Canada), absolutely beautiful park. Has the most trees with the least shade ever. Also, don't snooze on the acrobat show -- we wandered in to get out of the heat and crowds in August and it was far, far better than it had any right to be. Well worth it and a great midday break.

Good to know! I do usually skip that type stuff but I am here to get the full experience, and given the crowds discussion maybe I'll cave and just do 2 days anyway. But yes this is basically THE anticipated trip for the year. I've heard only great things, and I'm ready to finally get here. Also will be my first visit to Canada in over 20 years and that was with my family. Expecting a different time now!
