magicjack
I'm a loop virgin. What can I say? I like old woodies much better. I don't know why I haven't done a loop before. I guess i'm a bit anxious about the whole idea. I'm going to disneyland @ the end of the year and i'll probably go on California Screamin'. How's that for giving up my loop virginity? What are inversions like? Are there different sensations on, say, corkscrews or in-line-twists opposed to just straight loops? Any help would be greatly appreciated. hemmy
Just do it, that is all I can say. Loops are probably the smoothest inversion, my personal favorite being zero-g rolls.
dr.gumbo
I've only been on a looping coaster once and I do like loops, they give an opposite feeling to 'airtime' (rather than being forced out of you seat, you are forced into it), from what I've heard and seen, California Screamin' would be a great choice for you first looper. texasgiantrules
I lost my loop virginity on California Screamin' and it's a great choice since it is really smooth. The fact that it is both Intamin and Disney calmed me down alot for my first ride.
IceDragon
Heh, much better than my loop cherry... A Vekoma :\ Just ride it, don't think about it... You'll love it!
Little Coaster Girl
^^ That was my first loop, a vekoma. I love loops, the only problems i have with any are the barrel rolls or i think they call them also heart line rolls, not sure, see pic below that i got off of RCDB. But as far as loops, i love them. Top Thrill Dragster
California Screamin' is a great coaster to experice a inversion for the first time. It is one of the smoothest roller coasters out there and is one of the best if not the best Disney coaster. Good Luck.
Xmeister
I lost my "loop virginity" on Windjammer Not a good choice, but that was over ten years ago, so I've gone on many more coasters with inversions since. I also concur that California Screamin' would be the perfect coaster for your first loop.
chmilo24
I got one bit of advise, keep your head back, if not the forces will cause your head to fly forward and could give you severe whiplash.
thomas2
Loopings look alot scarier than they are IMO. When I rode my first looping, I felt like 'was that it ?!?', while I was really afraid seeing it before I rode it.
deaconnor
I lost my loop virginiy on Rock N Rollercoaster at WDW. I didn't even know it went upside down. You'll be fine.
bulldogmom
As others have said, be sure to keep your head against the neck rest. You don't even realize you're upside down. I've never been on it, but Calif Screamin seems to be a smooth coaster. Have fun!
Vekoma Fan Boy
Loopings look alot scarier than they are IMO. When I rode my first looping, I felt like 'was that it ?!?', while I was really afraid seeing it before I rode it. Wow, shockingly similar to my first inversion! I was on a boomerang (Flashback @ SFNE) as we were going through the station I kept thinking "HolyshitHolyshitHolyshit" we went through the first park of the boomerang element and I realised I was having fun! I thought "Wow, that was it?" As has been said, they look scarier than they are. And I have been on Loops, Cobra rolls, Corkscrews, Sidewinders, Inline (and I mean INLINE not heartline) twists & rollovers I've yet to go on 0-G's & the like. vjgx
Just keep your head back and you'll be fine. Loops aren't bad at all. If you were to close your eyes and you didn't know the layout of the coaster, you would probably not even notice the loop. Basically, loops feel like a strong drop pullout with your view of the world spinning 360 degrees. Other inversions feel a little different, but most of them (aside from zero-g rolls) generally have the same positive-g sensations. Corkscrews feel like loops with lateral forces. Inline twists are pretty much flat zero-g rolls, so you do get hangtime. Zero-g rolls usually give floater airtime... Much like on a woodie, but upside down. hemmy
Heh, my 9 year old sister rode her first looper which was Kumba at Busch Gardens, during my Florida trip a few weeks back. I could tell she was terrified but she shrugged it off. After the ride though she re-rode and enjoyed Montu as well, but no Sheikra.
DCody
My 8-year-old stepdaughter rode California Screamin' with me a few weeks ago and loved it. In fact, the first thing she said after we got into the station was, "The loop was the least scary part!" Verticle loops are so smooth, quick, and disorienting that I don't really even get the sense of defying gravity. Just a change in perception. coasterdude5
I was the same, I never wanted to go on a looping coaster, but once I tried it (Revolution at Libertyland), it was fine. What everybody else has said, try it out, that's the only way you'll ever know.
Sunfire
I lost my loop virginity to The Demon at Great America in California.
pgathriller
I lost my loop virginity on Greezed Lightnin at PGA. No longer there =(. When the coaster is smooth it doesn't even feel like your going upside down. You'll be riding the one at Disney which is really smooth and your going to go through it and be like, "Thats It?". Milkchan
I lost mine on CP (I was Corkscrewed) .
bulldogmom
^ I was "Corkscrewed" also! (my first) Loved it! The corkscrews are great. The loop- eh.
coasterdude5
Try a larger coaster if you can for your first loop. IMO, the larger, more gradual loops are better than the intense, smaller ones.
cprocks22
Honestly you don't notice your even upside down unless you look around (not that you even have that much time). It's really just positive g's, for vertical loops anyway. Barrel rolls, zero-g rolls, and sometimes corkscrews (Flight of Fear at PKI) offer some floater air, and some lateral g's, but no more then on most wooden coasters. Also I lost my loop virginity on Corkscrew at Michigan's Adventure, which is still one of the smoother Corkscrew's I've been on.

Loco
I lost mine on Top Gun at Great America. I couldn't even tell I was upside-down since I was sitting in the middle of the train, it all went by so quick.
