Masked_Maverick Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 I visited CP a few days ago with a friend thanks to some Comp. tix. Thank God I still have friends that still work there. Anyway I'll get on to the pix. Me at the end of the day. thanks for reading my photo TR. Demon in mid Drop. Demon Drop on our way out. The Ride Op looked so thrilled to be working entrance. Classic sign by the Carousel by the entrance of the park. Represent. Oh noes a Coaster Zombie!!! Derek this one is for you. A giant Snoopy waiting to pounce any shoplifters. Snoopy Bounce without the Snoopy. Re-rode Gemini for the first time in 2 years. I forgot how much I loved this ride. It is really smooth and has some good air time. slight dip from the Station to the Lift Hill. I really miss this ride. I almost got the whole Blue Streak train in this one but I was too late. My buddy Chad waiting in line for Raptor. Helix of fun. Time for some Raptor shots. My absolute favorite Coaster at CP. Too bad I can't freaking fit on it anymore. I am working on it though. Maverick holding the Maverick cup. Life is good. Yes you too can go to Cedar Point and spend $12.02 on a Maverick refillable cup and an order of Fries. If you can guess the hill then E-mail D...oh wait almost gone into an E-mail Dan joke. I apologize. Can't get enough of these Maverick shots. Maverick! More Maverick. Warning: Geek shot! MF's lift hill. I know this shot has been taken before however I did not realize it until after I took it. My least favorite Coaster at CP but I love the layout. I hate the ride itself because it kind of hurts. Mantis is a Stand-Up for those who don't know. With the motion of the legs it looks a lot like the skeleton is getting "too friendly" with the fence. FIRE!!! Yes, in case you are wondering the flames are Real. Another POV shot. Woo! Signature shot through the trees? and another. Cedar Creek Mine Ride. Taken from the train. I tried to get a train in this shot but the timing was too off. My baby from 2003 Mean Streak. I miss working this ride it was a lot of fun. Here is the sign explaining the premise of the show. It was pretty entertaining. I caught the show The Misadventures of Molly and Maverick. I admit they had me at Can-Can girls. Maverick still broke. I feel sorry for the people on the ride it must of been 90 that day. Can't wait to ride this Son of a gun. When I do ride it. It will most likely be my 50th Credit. Maverick done broke. OK so second attempt. Got in the test Seat. got the harness down and the belt done. However I still needed the bar to touch my legs and I was still a good half inch away. Whats a CP PTR without Maverick shots? This is my friend (ex really but we get along great) Angel. Sadly they caught her line jumping Woodstock's Express. Cleveland Credit. This was taken while we were approaching Dead Man's curve. OMG POV1111
Groteslurf Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Nice pics ! Next year I'll visit CP for the first time
dandaman Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 I would get the souvenir cup, were it not for the fact that I simply ask for ice water around the Point whenever I can anyway. You've got quite a few good shots in there!
lil jimmy norton Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Nice TR. What day were you there? I was there this past Friday and Saturday.
Goliath513 Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 Nice pics !Next year I'll visit CP for the first time Me too! I'm glad they still have Demon Drop. I remember when there was that rumor going around that it was sold.
Masked_Maverick Posted August 3, 2007 Author Posted August 3, 2007 I was there this past tuesday. I am going to make a third and final maverick attempt sometime in October during Halloweekends and yes I will try to do a Photo TR in case I make it. I have sworn to myself I am going to ride Maverick before the end of the season.
hemmy Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 Who doesn't love a Cedar Point trip report? Nice pics !Next year I'll visit CP for the first time Me too! I'm glad they still have Demon Drop. I remember when there was that rumor going around that it was sold. Supposedly it is STILL for sale if anyone wants to buy it.
Erik Johnson Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 As far as I know, or found. I believe that this was Dan's final Photo TR for CP. I went ahead and bumped it so you guys can check it out. It is too bad that he never was able to ride Maverick. I know he was trying to lose enough weight to try to get on it by the end of the season. He will be missed.
RIP Psyclone Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 I'm sure if he had stapled himself hard he could have got away with it. It's a doggone shame he's never going to ride it.
Homer Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 Maybe he did ride Maverick on his last try before the accident. He was on I-90, maybe he stopped off at CP and since he was close to his goal last month, that he'd definitely fit Maverick at CP. Just wishful thinking. I, again, seriously hope his friends and family are doing well right now.
steel Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 I think that for memory's sake, unless someone can confirm otherwise, we should agree that he did get his sought-after ride on Maverick.
bgwfreak Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 Wherever he is, I hope he's riding a coaster 100x better than any coaster on Earth. That's what I want Heaven to be like myself.
pkdcoaster Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 Very sad reading this one again, You could tell he really loved coasters. Such a shame he did not get to reach his goal before the end of the year. RIP JEFF
Sunfire Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 Since I'm a sucker for happy endings, I'm going to say that he got to ride it. It's almost poetic. His dream was to ride Maverick. And he got to right before he passed. I'm sure his room in heaven has all the roller coasters in the world, and he gets to ride them forever!
FLIPDUDE Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 I really hope he did get to ride Maverick. Wouldn't it be kind of poetic? I am reminded of a quote I read in someone's signatures approx. 6-7 years ago: "The best coaster in the world is the one I'll die on with a smile on my face". Maybe for him that was Maverick.
SFOGdude25 Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 It's so strange how we never think about people we know dying like this. RIP Daniel.
CoasterNut17 Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 That would be so cool if he got to ride Maverick before he died. No one will ever know for sure, but I say he did. Things like this could happen at any time. Just goes to show how vulnerable we are. It's still just so sad... RIP Dan EDIT: 1000th Post. Just for Dan...
TheRapidsNerd Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 He would've been a fun one to hang out with. Great spirit and determination there.
socalMAN123 Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 Man, this is so sad. It looks like he was really enjoying his life though, which is defenitly a good thing. Too bad he never got to go on the one coaster he REALLY wanted to ride. *sigh* R.I.P. Dan. ---Brent
FLIPDUDE Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 ^You can't be sure, he might've gotten on it the day of the accident. He was in the midst of a coaster run form what I understand.
disneygurlz2s Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 He seemed like a neat guy. Having lost my 23 year old niece (who was just an awesome young woman) in a car accident, I appreciate all the feelings of "what might have been".... It seems like from his death notice that the young lady he referred to as his "ex" was still much a part of his life (she was with him at CP and was his passenger in the car that day), so you can't help but wonder if they would not have maybe had a future together. Perhaps there would have been some Lil' Mavericks one day. Again, my deepest sympathy to his family and friends. Shari
Loopy Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 My thoughts are on his family and friends. I hope they are coping well with such a tragic loss.
Reality15 Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 I've been informed by one of my crewmates that he did not end up getting to ride, unfortunately. I hate to bring bad news, but just thought I would share that with everyone. He's probably riding a better coaster now anyways, better than anything the rest of us have ever ridden.
