Swimace
Wow, that drop looks intense! I love the look of this thing, it should be a really good ride. Do any other Eurofighter models curve on the first drop like that? I've only ever seen two (Speed, Typhoon), and their drops don't. Dollywood's does here, but it's different than MOA's
coasterdude5
^ Yeah it throws you a bit which is a good thing in this case.
kraken613
I wish the drop off of the MCBR was like Mystery Mine and I wish it had the horseshoe turn like it. That drop and turn is one of the best spots on Mystery Mine other than the ending! Itdrop is so tight it gives nice ejector in the back row and that turn gives a cool feeling! That drop and turn rocks! (From:RCDB)
Swimace
^yeah but the car has to come to almost a dead stop before it goes down the drop. I'd imagine that on Spongebob the car will more or less fly through the MCBR without losing much. although I agree with you on that drop being great
kraken613
It dosnt come to a dead stop almost when did you ride it? It used to slow it down a bit more but in the last few months they were pretty light on the brakes! The last day of the season I got more air than ever before! coasterdude5
^ Sometimes it would slow more than other times. Not sure why... It hurt when it didn't slow down though.
kraken613
I didnt hurt me! I loved it! It was some of the best ejector! You really have to know the ride to know how is the best to ride it in certian spots. Like the last part is bet just to let go. Ive ridden Mystery Mine 50 or 60 times. I think they moved the cam alittle too far over. What do you guys think?
WildStangAlex
So why tri-track? Anyone?
ETapley0687
^ I've wondered that too.

timberskara
I, too, have wondered why they made the switch to triangular track. Maybe Gerstlauer thinks Minnesota is full of overweight people or something ??
kraken613
I think they look better with just the two rails too.
TTD
I think because this coaster was built in such a restricted space, the amount of structural support that the support beams provide isn't as strong as it could be. And as a compensation to the oblique support design, Gerstlauer thought it was best to equip the coaster with tri-rail track to act as an extra supporting agent for the ride. jarmor
To chime in w/ everyone I think it is cheeper to do the tri tube track vs the flat standard track. Less footers means less digging and less land prep. I think it also depends on what the park wants. I think this coaster could have been made totally 2 tube track but with about double the supports. Even though the new track style was probably available when dollywood got mystery mine, I think to hold on to the mine train charm the entire course was done in 2 tube track! TheRapidsNerd
Looking at the over all shape and colors, the track has a nice ocean wave feel to it. A nice sculptural touch. Hey, it's just a good looking piece of functional entertainment art. In a way, it has a coolness like Thorpe (?) Park's entrance.
steel
I like the triangular track. I think it makes it look even more twisted and compact.
Sticky Nicky
Gerstlaur is starting to use this in their indoor coasters more often now. Look at Galaxyland's Galaxy Orbiter.
kraken613
So all they have left is to put the chain in the station and electronics and put the trains on! I cant belive it went up so fast about 2 weeks!

Sticky Nicky
Can you believe that we have gone from 24-50 pages within 2 weeks!!!!!!! That is more than half of what we did in 5 1/2 months! Can't wait for Splat-O-Sphere constuction to start. Ripsaw is going to have a thrilling helix now with Avatar and Splat within 5 feet of the track.
