LcHg5265 Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 Have you ever wondered why Coke comes with a smile? It’s because it gets you high. They took the cocaine out almost a hundred years ago. You know why? It was redundant. In The First 10 minutes: 10 teaspoons of sugar hit your system. (100% of your recommended daily intake.) You don’t immediately vomit from the overwhelming sweetness because phosphoric acid cuts the flavor allowing you to keep it down. 20 minutes: Your blood sugar spikes, causing an insulin burst. Your liver responds to this by turning any sugar it can get it’s hands on into fat. (There’s plenty of that at this particular moment) 40 minutes: Caffeine absorption is complete. Your pupils dialate, your blood pressure rises, as a response your livers dumps more sugar into your bloodstream. The adenosine receptors in your brain are now blocked preventing drowsiness. 45 minutes: Your body ups your dopamine production stimulating the pleasure centers of your brain. This is physically the same way heroin works, by the way. >60 minutes: The phosphoric acid binds calcium, magnesium and zinc in your lower intestine, providing a further boost in metabolism. This is compounded by high doses of sugar and artificial sweeteners also increasing the urinary excretion of calcium. >60 Minutes: The caffeine’s diuretic properties come into play. (It makes you have to pee.) It is now assured that you’ll evacuate the bonded calcium, magnesium and zinc that was headed to your bones as well as sodium, electrolyte and water. >60 minutes: As the rave inside of you dies down you’ll start to have a sugar crash. You may become irritable and/or sluggish. You’ve also now, literally, pissed away all the water that was in the Coke. But not before infusing it with valuable nutrients your body could have used for things like even having the ability to hydrate your system or build strong bones and teeth. okinawaboy11 Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 That doesn't happen to me when I drink a Coke...Nothing happens to me actually when I drink a Coke, Mountain Dew, Surge, any high sugar/caffine drink, etc, etc. Even coffee can't keep me awake. Maybe I'm weird.
Louise Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 I love how I locked this earlier but recieved PMs saying "oh, but we wanted to have an intelligent discussion!! Re-open it, please!!"... I give in to public demand, and where is my intelligent discussion?!?!
IceDragon Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 i dont drink coke or anything with a high sugar/caffeine level unless its really needed
Louise Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 and where is my intelligent discussion?!?! coke makes me burp lol There it is!
AndrewCT Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 I love how I locked this earlier but recieved PMs saying "oh, but we wanted to have an intelligent discussion!! Re-open it, please!!"... I give in to public demand, and where is my intelligent discussion?!?! Lou, my "Eryup" didn't suffice!? I guess I was wrong.
USRoadTripper Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 One time, someone on the internet told me that the word gullible isn't in the dictionary. I didn't check to see for myself, but I'm sure it must be true. -Julie
Blazen_AZN Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Nowhere on the site cited or the site that site cited does it cite how much Coke was consumed. Onetime i watched Supersize Me. That was the first time i've actually craved McDonalds in years...
buttonman700 Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Coke! ha, take a good long look at Mountain Dew. Dew has Brominated Vegetable Oil as an ingredient, BVO keeps flavor oils in suspension and gives a cloudy appearance to citrus-flavored soft drinks. Eating BVO leaves small residues in body fat; it is unclear whether those residues pose any risk. Fortunately, BVO is not widely used. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brominated_vegetable_oil I stopped drinking it after I saw this information on a science channel program. It doesn't surprise me that coke would have this effect on you.
SLUSHIE Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Any soda does nothing for me. coffee on the other hand makes me go insane
Bubba83 Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 I much prefer Guarana based drinks to synthetic caffeine/sugar based products. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guarana If only there were more of them.
krouvi Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 I know Cola is bad for me and know well this is just "drinking bad calories" I can enjoy buy other stuff. The thing is I really enjoy it. I dont drink cola as I used to (1.5 liter aday). I drink one glass aday and I enjoy this glass so much that sometimes it is felt like kind of drug abusing. I guess that one day Cola will be out of the law just like cocaine and heroin and cigarettes. Do you think it is possible to make Cola out of Brown Sugar ???
RCSean Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 But would the same thing happen if I drink a coke 1 hour from now???
coastercrazed49 Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Its kind of ocward when reading this when your drinking a coke. (Which Im doing right now.)
coasterfreak101 Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Nowhere on the site cited or the site that site cited does it cite how much Coke was consumed. Onetime i watched Supersize Me. That was the first time i've actually craved McDonalds in years... Strange, that movie had the complete opposite effect on me. I couldn't eat chicken after the whole bit on how they kill the chicken. I had an idea, but I never saw an image like they showed...every time I took a bite of chicken I saw that animation...*shudder* Mmm, can't wait 'till caffeine's banned. There'll be a lot of jails popping up around the country...
Masked_Maverick Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 If I drank a Coke right now then I would be less thirsty than I am now.

Golfie Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 Your body can take a coke if you have it once or twice a month. It's people who drink 2-liter bottles each day that harm their bodies.

That movie was so baised it completely discredited itself. Nobody in my health class took it seriously. I don't care if McDonalds (or in this case, coke) will make people die by the third sip! You have the right to be as unhealthy as you damn well want! This is America baby!
thrillrideseeker Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 Coke does nothing for me, neither does that nasty vault stuff. Oh great coke facts by the way! ~Matthew

You can see the credentials of the "staff" here... http://healthbolt.net/about/ Seems credible to me... Credible? My first thought would be...um...NO. Any thoughts as to why? Let's see now: "Senior editor/head writer" Wade Meredith is a comedian whose FAMILY includes medical professionals. Three of my mother's sisters are nurses...does that mean I'm ready to run out and start performing surgery? Hardly. Oh, and I almost forgot...everyone on staff is the aforementioned family. Asistant editor/contributing writer Melynda Meredith: The senior editor's WIFE, she's in her fourth year of dentistry school. OK, so there's medical training involved, but one, it's DENTAL, and two, she hasn't graduated yet. Would you want financial advice from a business school TRAINEE, or perhaps (to put it in terms we'll all understand), would you ride Goliath if it had been designed by someone STILL in engineering school? Assistant editor/contributing writer Virginia Brackett: OK, we've reached our first actual Doctor...however, this senior editor's MOTHER holds her doctorate in ENGLISH!!! She also holds a degree as a medical technician, but 'ell if I know what level that degree is, and exactly what kind of qualifications does a medical technician have to GIVE medical advice...aren't they the people who always say "let me get the doctor to answer that for you..."??? Contributing writer Shandra Chapman: The senior editor's SISTER is an assistant race director for a company that organizes triathlons. Probably pretty knowledgable in areas relating to general health and conditioning, but I imagine your average baseball player is pretty informed in that respect, too. Are you going to ask Manny Ramirez what to do about that pain in your chest? Probably not. Consultant William R. Meredith: OK, finally a medical doctor. The senior editor's FATHER probably knows his stuff, but he's an opthalmologist...an EYE surgeon. I realize all medical doctors go through the same training, but once one specializes, they generally stick with that specialty. Would you want the exhaust specialist at your garage fixing your brakes? Doubt it. Go to the brake specialist. Knowledgable? As a group, probably. Credible? Thanks, but no thanks. Trust 'em if you want, but remember...in this 'net-centric world, we can pretty much post anything we want, and who's going to challenge it? Oh, and as I write this I'm finishing my Coke from McDonald's...I'll have another, please.
the sound Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 I have some questions: If Coke now kills you, then what's the point of Alcohoal and fags? Does Pepsi and/or Dr Pepper also kill you? Also I drank a coke at Dinner last night.
