I was at sfmm yesterday as you all well know they put the cop car back at batman. As i was heading for the station to get a last ride in before going home i spotted guests entering the track area by lifting the fence just to take a picture with the car so i thought id report it to the attendants. "Did i do the right thing or should i have left it alone"?

Report the douche bags. These are the same idiots that would sue in a second when they get hurt while violating park rules.

That would be the stupid thing to do. Imagine if one of them got hurt and filed a lawsuit. It seems like the courts take the guest's side most of them time.

If someone is breaking park rules and is creating a dangerous situation for themselves or anyone, of course it's best to report it.

Posted

Absolutly report it, if you have a chance to get a description, it is much easier to follow up on. If they had a large stuffed animal, remember their ethnicity, color shirts, # of people.

Theme parks don't stand for people who break the rules. That would be automatic dismissal from the park.

they need to fix the fence by the car anyway i can tell by looking at it this has happend more then once. they were under the entry to the second loop where the cop car is the guy was having his gf pose on the hood of the car

Of course you report it, its not like their going to jump you like it was high school. Rules are rules and everyone needs to follow them, they make it for our safety and only real jerks try to get a better picture of something that they don't need. They can easily ask a park attendant if they can escort them to the spot they want to take a picture at, I've done it a lot of times.

You did the right thing. We were watching that guy that climbed under the fence for a while to make sure he wasnt going to. also the sups had been informed about the fence.

Posted

^^I have never seen that before. But I have never asked though either.

But i would have told the people doing it to get out of there. You would be surprised at the amount of people that "don't know there breaking rules" or "get scared if someone sees them". And if they mouth off to you, you will have a better description and another reason for them to get in trouble.

Is that all that's happened? In my opinion Batman should not even operate until this 'easy access' into the track area is fixed!

If I saw something like maybe line hopping, but not affecting me then I'd let it slide, but if they cut in front of me then I'd open up as soon as I got up where the attendent is at. If it were something like hopping fences into restricted areas, people throwing stuff while on the rides, attempting to stand, or anything else that would pose a hazard, then I'd report them regardless. I'd rather not see the park get sued for someone's ignorance. People like that shouldn't even be exposed to the outside world IMO...

While Line Jumpers piss me off, i wouldn't report them. But people sneaking under the fence are creating a dangerous situation for themselves, so they should of been reported.

The appropriate response for the team members in that situation would warrant an E-Stop of the ride for guests entering a restricted area. At SFGAm's B:TR there is a grouper at the Flash Pass merge point that can see the car, is the car area at SFMM not visible by any employee? And if not they should have cameras overlooking the ride area.

Posted

No, the area can't be seen by ride ops, and I don't think they have cameras in that area, they really should. People like this are the ones who ruin it for everyone else, they really piss me off. I definitely would have said something had I been there. Why are people so stupid?

I reported a row of tourists on Kraken.

The father (I assumed) had his camera out and hidden by his right hip in his hand. I saw this and told the ride op. The ride op went up to him and asked him to put it away, he put it in his pocket but didn't move his hand away from it.

While the train was leaving the station he pulled the camera back out, the ride op phoned up to the main Op station.

While the train was headed up the lift and got to the first security cameras (Half way up) they stopped the train and asked him to put it away, he "Did". When it got towards the top, the train stopped again and he, again, "Put it away". At the end of the ride they saw he had it out in the on-ride photo. He was dismissed from the park.

I felt a little bad, but, if you don't have permission from the park, you shouldn't have your camera out.

There's no need to feel bad. They warned the guy 3 times. How dumb can you get?

Wow....I would think if you told a ride op or attendant that someone was going into an active ride area, they would be quite hasty to get to the situation. Way to go SFMM.

^And yea....that's pretty freaking stupid.

Nah, that's a good call. People don't realize how much it mangles somebody's face when they get hit by an object like that. Of course, not everybody is going to drop their camera, but it happens, and it's not pretty when it does. People like that deserve to be thrown out. Just like people who think they don't need to wait in the same line that everybody else has do too.

You did right to tell an Op about taking a camera on the coaster, that is one of the worst things you can do, you risk everyone's life if it drops onto the track.

When I was in Walibi World there were some kiddies 18 - 25 years old who started Q jumping cos they wanted to ride with their mates, I told them to get back in line - of course they did not listen to me so I told an Op.

The Op asked other people in the Q if these kiddies were q jumping and they said "yes", the kids were banned from the ride for the rest of the day.

If I see anything which can be dangerous I will tell an Ops, eps Q jumping as this is the most annoying thing to do at a Park.
