Jew
^He is right about one thing: the Blues were kind of just watching instead of putting bodies on bodies in that first period.

I'll help out a (hopefully!) new fan. Hockey has periods, not quarters. And goals not points. Points are something that players get, goals are what the team gets.  No worries about not knowing the terms, that comes with times. I can remember being a kid and thinking Powerplays were something that they randomly inserted into the game to make it more exciting. Kind of like when you get multiple balls in pinball... That was nearly 20 years ago now, still seems like yesterday lol.
BeemerBoy
^ And goals, not points...although a player's stats are listed in point totals. Example: Mike Richards had 44 points this season - 18 goals and 26 assists). However, in this context... Â Kings managed to get 4 points in the 1st Quarter ...you'd say, "The Kings managed to score 4 goals in the first period." Â No worries, we'll help you out. Welcome to the NHL! imawesome1124
Yeah, points are counted differently in hockey then other sports. I don't know how it is in basketball because I don't watch it but a player's points are the combined goals and points. And they can't be "quarters" if there's only three of them, they're called period. One thing all new fans seem to love most is the fighting, that's self-explanatory. Hockey has a lot of rules that I don't feel like posting right now. Once you understand the game it really is IMO the best sport to watch.
beatle11
I definitely have a great respect for this franchise the way it is run. I hope they can come back in their series. Â http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=394742 Â Â PREDATORS SUSPEND RADULOV, ANDREI KOSTITSYN FOR GAME 3 Â NASHVILLE -- The Nashville Predators have suspended forwards Alexander Radulov and Andrei Kostitsyn for Game 3 of their Western Conference semifinal with the Phoenix Coyotes for a violation of team rules. Â Nashville general manager David Poile announced the decision Tuesday in a statement but did not elaborate on what rules were broken. The Predators trail the Coyotes 2-0 ahead of Wednesday's critical Game 3 in Nashville. Â "I've been a manager for 30 years, I care about each individual player, but I've never put an individual player above the team. In this case, the players violated a team rule," Poile told TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun of ESPN.com. "It's disappointing any time a player has to miss a game because of violating a team rule, and it's even more significant at playoff time, but the decision between the coach and myself was very easy. Â "We have to do the right thing. Their actions spoke volumes in terms of their lack of commitment and focus to give our a club a chance to win." Â Radulov returned to the Predators in March after bolting to the Russian KHL following the 2007-08 season. He had three goals and four assists in nine regular-season games. The 25-year-old has one goal and five assists in five playoff games. Â The Predators acquired Kostitsyn from the Montreal Canadiens prior to the trade deadline in hopes of bolstering their attack for the post-season. Â The 27-year-old had four goals and eight assists in 19 games with the Preds, after collecting 24 points (12-12) with the Habs. Â Kostitsyn has three goals and an assist so far in this year's playoffs. Â "The Nashville Predators have a few simple rules centred around doing the right things," Poile said. "We have always operated with a team-first mentality and philosophy. Violating team rules is not fair to our team and their teammates." Â Nashville defeated the Detroit Red Wings in fives games in the first round of the playoffs.

The Preds are one of my favorite teams and if the Caps go out I will be rooting for Nashville the rest of the playoffs, assuming they come back and win their series. PhantomNick
GREAT Caps-Rangers game last night! I ended up staying up watching the whole thing. Those multi-OT games are a heck of a lot more entertaining to watch when you don't have an allegiance to either team. Whenever you do, however, they can be nerve wracking and brutal! Ahhhh, the joys of playoff hockey! Â So many OT chances in that one too. Several posts hit, and that one shot by Rupp that got blocked.....by his teammate!.....when he had an open cage. Good stuff! Sir Clinksalot
Another great win for the Kings last night. Each time St. Louis tried to bring the game closer, the Kings had an answer for them. Quick is just the man!!!
Jew
They're finally using all that talent they have! Doing a MUCH better job keeping the puck out of their zone.
Sir Clinksalot
^ I think that's been the biggest key to this series in particular. Blues just have no time in their zone, which is awesome!!!
Joe Cool
We have not had time at all and our defense is just been terrible. Just hope we don't get sweped. I will take at least one win.
beatle11
^They are a young team, and this will be a great learning experience for them. Did anyone pick the Kings and Coyotes in the Western final?

imawesome1124
^ He plays for the Hershey Bears in the AHL, whose home stadium is in Hersheypark. Â But I agree, it's an awesome mask and he's been playing out of his mind for most of these playoffs.

Skycoastin Steve
Really hoping the Caps can find a way to finish off the Rangers. With the Penguins already out and the Flyers knocking on death's door, I could rest easy with the Caps, Devils, Kings, and Coyotes fighting it out for the Cup. Jew
I got into hockey in 1993 (when the Kings started practicing @ Iceoplex, and you could meet and mingle with the players after practice with no problem!)....hoping this run can surpass 1993!
Freefallbestrideever
I believe they were 2-3 against the Yotes in the regular season, most of those being pre-transformation On one hand you probably have fans who aren't that into hockey, on the other you have a team owned by the NHL and people say the refs have slight favoritism towards them?? Whatever, good to start on the road, the Kings have been better on the road for years now. Who would have thought losing those last two games to San Jose would turn out like this?
