benzo41190 Posted May 15, 2005 Posted May 15, 2005 Well Saturday was very interesting at work. I was operating Viper doing the lap bar checks and there was an very overweight person trying to get on Viper. So I told her if she couldnt fit she coudnt ride. She steped in and her son couldnt ride because she took up 1 1/2 seats. So we pushed down the lap bars forcefully and had to disconnect the belt. While this is going on everyone was complaning and and the kid was crying for five minuets and I waited with him till she got back. When she got off of the ride she complaned about her waist herting and said she was going to complain. Then there was a short kid with a parent that wanted to ride on the ride. well the kid was way too short and the parent knew. I told the parent that he couldnt ride and she started yelling at me. Then the parent put the kid on her lap and I said that that was also not allowed. So I called over the others Op's and she finally leaved. Then five minuets before I could leave, a girl walked off of the train and puked all over the train and the station. So it took 10 minuets trowing that powder stuff all over the puke then ran the train empty. Then I left to ride a couple rides before I went home. I rode Raging Bull a few times and was running prety good except the trim brakes were a little sticky but I had a good day.
SharkTums Posted May 15, 2005 Posted May 15, 2005 Wow, that sounds like a pretty awesome day for Humanity! Elissa "the world would be a better place if most people were gone!" Alvey
M_Force_4_ever Posted May 15, 2005 Posted May 15, 2005 Benzo what rides do you work? I've been to SFGAm 4 times this season and 13 rides on viper and I dont think Ive seen you.
benzo41190 Posted May 16, 2005 Author Posted May 16, 2005 I work at Fiddlers Fling, Viper, and occasionally TrailBlazer. Sometimes it changes I mean I Op. wherever someone needs help or if someone doesnt come in. But I do work pretty much evry weekend except opening weekend. I hate my weird hours. My Avatar is a picture of me like five years ago, my image has changed alot.
Jeezus Juice Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 Ewww, that woman probably got fat germs all over Viper, great. Are you allowed to baby-sit like that? Even so, I would have told her and her monkey to get lost. Sucks about the puke man, simpathies dude. I know it takes a lot to be a ride-op, I think I'd last about 2 hours before losing it on some idiot. Keep Viper warm for me, I'll be there in august. Are adults allowed aboard any anti-adult attractions, specifically the Spacely Sproket Rocket? Still need that credit. Thanx!
benzo41190 Posted May 16, 2005 Author Posted May 16, 2005 I never work on kid rides, but from what I have seen I think adults are allowed on Spacely Sproket Rocket but not on like kiddy flat rides, like the scooby doo themed crazy bus.
M_Force_4_ever Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 ^you are gonna know me well by the end of the season, I will be riding and re-rideing viper alot this season (goal: 150-200)
Jew Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 *yawn* Come back when you got some real guest situations.
SharkTums Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 Eh, the Jew has some pretty horriffic stories from SFMM and more! Elissa "Freefalls are cool!" Alvey
M_Force_4_ever Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 I still felt like pointing out the irellivance (sp?) of the post. I would be intersted in hearing some though.
Jew Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 Ride operators never deal with kids who are too short and their stupid parents or fat people who don't fit in the restraints. Or puke. Really...I swear. -Joey "post again when you've had a trash can thrown at you" Mandel 8)
Meteornotes Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 ^I remember someone throwing their shoes at one of my ride operators at Hersheypark! We laughed when security escorted them away. Don't recall anyone tossing a trashcan, but I do remember a guy trying to hop over a gate to linejump and getting his foot caught in a nearby trashcan and ended up sort of falling into it and knocking it over. I love it when people do stupid stuff and injure themselves in the process... dt
M_Force_4_ever Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 ^lol thats funny/scary. and yes people injuring themselfs while being stupid is very funny.
DejaVu The Ride Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 I guess I'll update on the park in this topic. 1.Raging Bull is running 3 trains on every remotely busy day. 2. Whizzer and Demon are expected to run 3 once the waterpark opens.(At least Whizzer will and has.) 3. King Chaos has opened for the season. 4. There is no more waiting under the Hometown Square bridge. They are making you stop near the Aunt Marthas Boarding House restaurant. This lets them open Season Pass processing early and will also eventually allow them to open the games early too. 5. The waterpark WILL open on time. The wavepool is now full of its water and the atomic coaster splash pool is now full. Even two of the slides were running with water. All slides should be ready by Friday. 5. Skull Island is the main thing they are now working on. They were working past daylight to do some welding. 6. DejaVu is running to perfection. There were only a couple breakdowns this weekend. 7. American Eagle Blue is still on one train op. 8. The new freedom at the mic is amazing. The ops are really getting into it with entertaining spiels. 9. The Hurricane Harbor entrance will be neat with a fountain in the middle. 10. The Lucky Shot shooting gallery is being turned into a new food location.(restaurant possibly.) 11. Ragin Cajun is finally back to 5 car op and is actually hitting a good capacity. 12. Superman is turning into the old Dejavu. It even has paint blotches on its supports. 13. DejaVu should be using a grouper a lot this season. Be aware that they line could look long because of this. 14. If you plan to ride DejaVu first and it doesn't look like it has tested yet, still run to the ride. They do Am's real early and the safety check was done by 9:45 yesterday. It will normally test only once after 9. That's it for now. I will update more if I think of stuff. It is home stretch for the waterpark! Media Day May 25 with Opening Day May 28! I will be able to get a sneak peak of the waterpark this Saturday, so I will for sure update you then.
DancingDays Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 Sounds good Deja Vu the ride....I'm going to be making a trip up to SFGAm in a couple of weeks...but, in your opinion, is it worth it to ride Rajun' Cajun' if lines are long on all of the rides...because, if it's a bad coaster, I think I'd rather wait for Viper, B:TR, or Raging Bull. I'm really content to just cycle between those three all day, B:TR and Viper especially.
DejaVu The Ride Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 If that ends up being early June, then lines shouldn't be too bad. You might want to check Cajun out if you have time. Some of the cars appear to be going right through the hard trim.(Resulting in one crazy ride. ) Just be aware that a full queue is one hour with 5 cars running.
Bob O Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 I was at the park on 05/16/05 and it was run in a substandard manner. Of course Dejavu didnt operate at all, Whizzer started at least 1 hr late and i made one complete circuit of the park between 10am and noon and the ONLY non-roller coaster rides operating were Giant Drop and Sky Tower, every other flat ride was CLOSED. ALot of them seemed to open sometime after 100pm/200pm, but then closed early on a day the park was only open till 600pm. So for the first several hours we counted only about 12-14 rides open in the whole park and for anyone under 48inches there was very little to do as only a couple of attractions were open in the kids area's.
calcajun Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Benzo, The powder stuff is your friend! Guess what, You aint seen nothing yet. I also gaurantee you, a parent will curse you out very soon cause thier child is too short.
