kayoss
Just realized something odd the other day... I was looking over the websites to Southern California waterparks and couldn't for the life of me find one that appeared to have a 'shotgun' slide in it's waterslide arsenal. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term, a 'shotgun' slide is the type where you slide sharply downwards and then fly off the slide, generally freefalling about 10 or so feet into a deep catch pool. They were always my favorite as a kid, and frankly it's weird that Southern California seems to be missing them. So..... am I wrong? Is there a hidden smallish water park in Southern California that still has one of these cool slides? Here's two waterparks in Northern California still sportin' shotguns: Raging Waters - San Jose (as Shotgun Falls) http://www.rwsplash.com/attractions Six Flags Waterworld - Concord (as DIABLO FALLS) http://www.sixflags.com/parks/waterworldconcord/Rides/list.html
robbalvey
Bombay Blasters at Wild Rivers in Irvine is freaking INSANE!!! http://www.wildrivers.com/ Actually check out our entire update from I think 2004 for more pics of Bombay Blasters: http://www.themeparkreview.com/wildrivers/wr1.htm --Robb
Angry_Gumball
I was just going to post that but my internet bugged out. I wish that Nor Cal (Bay Area) would get some toilet bowls. 2 hours is kind of a long drive just for 1 waterslide.
QuakerOaties
^^ Is that me?? Its funny, I was JUST thinking about that water slide.
Xmeister
Aww............ Bombay Blasters The most fun you can have while nearly drowning. Seriously they are probably the scariest slides I have ever been on.
AlmereStars
ooow that's so funny! a pool in holland (Duinrell) also has something like this, a small slide and then stops a meter above the water I didn't know that so the first time I went on the slide it suprised me big time
verticalzero
The "Bombay Blasters" looks well cool, can you go down "head 1st".
Homer
I've ridden the ones at Sandcastle Water Park in Pittsburgh [boardwalk Blasters]. Those slides are not man friendly, every time I went on those, it felt like I got kicked in the nuts.
TexTitan01
They have ones like these @ Hurricane Harbor in Arlington, TX (shotgun falls), and those suckers are WELL above 10 feet off the ground! I love them

I love them Hmmmmm..... these? Cause they don't seem taller then Raging Waters San Jose's "Shotgun Falls"..... I'd actually be curious to know where the highest fly-off-the-slide-and-into the pool waterslide is.

I didn't even know this park existed! Thanks for the tip!!
ECZenith
Raging Waters and Island Oasis in Wildwood, NJ, adjacent to Morey's Piers each have a pair of open shotgun-style slides if your ever on the EC... I remember being really small and going down the one at Raging Waters and not realizing you "fell" into the water below and feeling like I was going to drown. Horrifying then? Yes. Hilarious now? Definately.
chmilo24
There is one in all the Raging Water parks in NorCal.
sfmman2000
IMO, 'shotgun' type slides are my least favorite. They are short in length, and just not as fun as a long winding slide, or a 'cliffhanger' type slide.
the sound
The most fun you can have while nearly drowning. How the heck could you even nearly drown! These Shotgun things look so cool, the closest we've ever had down here was a huge really steep inflatable slide from the 10 meter Diving Platform at MSAC. It doesn't go colmpletely down, so its kind of like a shotgun slide. And it hurts your shoulders heaps! BTW, Robb, you wouldn't be allowed on it, you have to be under 80 KG! Angry_Gumball
The shotgun slides themselves don't look all that, but the fact of being launched into a 10-foot pool from 6 feet above sounds fun...especially because I like jumping off of high ledges into the deep end of a pool and doing painful cannonballs. Looks are deceiving. There's just something unique and freaky about flying off a 'track' and 'crash-landing' into a pool
verticalzero
Do any of these slides use a "Rubber Ring"..? You could see if you can clear the whole pool, tarmac not good ouch.
jappi
I have ridden somrthing like this at aqua paradise italy but thid one you go down s tubr and when you are outside you go up a ramp and flys in to the water. http://www.canevaworld.it/gui_ap/13_waterjump.jpg http://www.canevaworld.it/gui_ap/12_waterjump.jpg http://www.canevaworld.it/gui_ap/21_waterjump.jpg
speedracer
^ That looks amazing! Love the theming too! I wish that Nor Cal (Bay Area) would get some toilet bowls. 2 hours is kind of a long drive just for 1 waterslide. Sunsplash actaully has a couple of different versions of the toilet bowls, plus they have NorCal's only Master Blaster, so there's definitely more than one good slide there to make the drive worth it: http://roseville.golfland.com/attractions.aspx#SunSplash%20Waterpark

HCOSurfer90
I LOVE these slides. I have one at my home water park, Splish Splash. It's called Shotgun Falls. Here's a pic of it I found off of my local newspapers website: http://www.newsday.com/media/photo/2006-06/24057425.jpg
FLIPDUDE
Here in Israel we have an interesting take on the shotgun slides. instead of flying off horizontaly you basically plunge into the pool It's a whole lot of fun, but sadly it comes with a high risk factor for belly-flopping. ouch. Gnome
I need to go to wild rivers again. Its been so long and about the only water park in SoCal that's actually worth my time and money.

It seems that you just fall down not even shoot out. Where is it, I might stop by it the next time I will be there?
