London Dungeon New Ride!

Recommended Posts

I looked on the London Dungeon's website and found this:

New Feature coming in April 2007- Extremis: Drop Ride to Doom!

Embark upon your last journey on the brand new Extremis: Drop Ride to Doom! At the mercy of the hamgmen, you are at the very point of death and the end is drawing near... Taste the fear and feel the adrenaline pump as the trapdoor opens and your heart shoots into your throat as you drop, screaming into the darkness below...

This should be a great new feature at the London Dungeon!

Here is an excert from their press release I got today.

The London Dungeon has announced its largest development to date with plans to open a groundbreaking £1.5 million drop ride this Easter.

Due to launch on 30th March, Extremis - meaning ‘at the very point of death’ in Latin, will see visitors stand in the shoes of the first prisoners hanged at Newgate in 1783.

After being transported from their ‘cell’ by the hangman, riders will be placed back to back in the ride which will be taken to the top before dropping them to the floor.

Oh and it is being supplied by ABC Rides.

I was so seriously dissapointed with the London Dungeon.

I heard so much about it from Travel Channel, and i really wanted to go. Finally i convinced my parents into going...

It was just so cheap and corny. Completely terrible. I've learned not to ever let Travel Channel hype anything for me since then... They sugar coat everything.

But, hey, a dropride sounds nice. Lord knows they need SOMTHING there...

That's great news for London Dungeon, I wonder how high the drop will be.

London Dungeon do use the space they have very well. It's a shame I feel dizzy when ever I visit.

Last time I went there I was told by the "Judge" in the "Sentanced to Death" area, "You were caught peeing off London Bridge and someone saw your togger, for that cruel event you will be shot".

It is suppose to be all good black humor with a bit of cheapness and corny thrown in.

The ride opens on my Birthday, could be worth a re-visit

ECZenith - I'll swap countries with you anytime, I can drive my PT Cruiser in it's home country and hit Route 66.

I would love to live in the USA, get as many Season passes as possible for Holiday World, Cedar Point, Kings island etc.

Most USA coasters are "get on your Knees and bow" amazing

The ride looks decent, and it should be fun, but I doubt it will be a big drop. I think they will use a system like the tomb ride at the Luxor, and the actual drop may be as twenty feet. However, the drop will seem a lot higher, but maybe it will be a decent size drop.

Well, now that I see the artwork - definitely not a Mack E-motion coaster like in Amsterdam Dungeon.

Still, anything like a walk-thru attraction such as the Dungeons Series (London, York, Hamburg, Am'dam), that ends with a "ride experience" of some kind/type seems like a good direction to take.

Its name means ‘at the very point of death’ in Latin, which couldn’t be more appropriate, since it’s based on the hangings that took place at the notorious Newgate gaol from 1783.

After being transported from your ‘cell’ by the hangman, you’ll be placed back-to-back in the ride which will be taken to the top before dropping you to the floor.

Your view from the top will be just like that of all those condemned at Newgate, seconds before they died, and the sensation of dropping, as if on the end of a noose, will give you the adrenaline rush of your life!

  • 2 weeks later...

Yesterday the ride opened and I was one of the first to ride

I won't spoil the ride but I will say that the drop produces alot of force considering the size of it and the cars looks similar to Mystery Castle's but it was a great ride + the restraints are comfy but mine was too loose so i got a small pop of air
