Okay so Borat is coming out this tuesday.

Whos buying it?

I personally did not get to watch it at the movies when it was new so I'm really excited to finally see it.

I've seen some trailers of it but I was wondering if its really worth it? For those who have seen it how funny is this movie, really?

I'm going to guess that I'm one of the few on this site who disliked Borat. I'm not a big fan of "ambush" comedy, and they really did a lousy job with the "faux documentary" format; for example, the perfect camera placement for when Borat and his producer flee the boarding house run by the nice, old Jewish couple, and Borat complaining about how lonely he is when his producer deserted him (hell, why doesn't he just ask the camera crew for a ride?).

Nope--I just didn't buy it.

I havent seen the movie, but I have seen most, if not all, of the Borat sketches, and I find them funny more often than they are not. Then again I guess the Atlantic Ocean divides the sense of humour as well as other things. lol.

Im thinking of buying it.

I saw it in theaters...and I don't plan to buy the DVD.

I thought there were some hilarious parts, and some incredibly stupid parts...it balanced out to just enough where I'd DVR it if it were on an HD movie channel, but not buy the DVD.

Give me a break. Of course some scenes were staged. But others were not, like the rodeo scene. He almost caused a real riot there, which takes more balls than you or I will ever have.

You really have to "get" that comedy. It's really more intelligent than most people take it for, which is why I found it hilarious! Aside from the "naked" part, I thought it was pretty brilliant.

Whether or not any scenes were "staged" is not the point. I felt that he simply didn't use the faux documentary format very well as compared to, say, This Is Spinal Tap or A Mighty Wind. Hell, it was even nominated for "Best Screenplay Adaptation" at the Oscars (lost to The Departed).

As for the rodeo scene, I did think that was fairly funny (the old cowboy guy backstage was pretty scary), as was the bit with the humor coach.

But funny is in the eyes of the beholder. I was looking forward to this flick, but found it disappointing and overrated.

I bought it and watched it with my friends last night.

My friend who had never seen it before spit M&M's out all over my Mom's white carpet she laughed so fucking hard and I snorted my pop.

Of course, I'm immature and am a big fan of "toilet humor."

I agree that the documentary portion of it was underdeveloped. But it wasn't supposed to be a Christopher Guest movie. It was basically just an excuse for Ali G to pull his typical antics, which are admittedly a niche that not everyone likes. I'm a big fan of Mr. Cohen, and I knew exactly what I was getting into.

Spinal Tap is excellent, but I think his later efforts fall severely short.

I've never laughed so hard during a movie before.

Oh no, it is a Jew on the message forums! Throw some monies at it!

I once hit a Jew with stone from 75m, unchained. I win medal, great honor for Kazakhstan, not Uzbeki assholes. Great success!

Yeah, it's a great movie.
