Worm Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 hey, so i know you people are all looking for Anaconda @ Gold reef city's pov, and well i found one. seeing that my video camera broke i asked my cousin to make a pov, and well he did. so here pepole i present to you: ANACONDA well it may not be the best, but its better than nothing, right?
Wes Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 Thanks! Looked fun...although the lift hill noise was annoying.
jimbobcoaster Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 Thanks for the find! I've always been quite curious as to what this coaster was like! It seems like fun to me.
jarmor Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 Thanks for the video...isnt this the park where the dive mine coaster is?
Reon Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Yeah. I need to see that posted, because I've never seen it's full layout. Plus it just owns xD
Satoshi Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 the layout looks like kinda B:TR but some elements are not same to Batman invert. the double helices are really awesome part of the ride though. i've also got some foot chooper feeling on the ground dips!
thomas2 Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Finally a video of this ride. Thanks for sharing!
imbordisux Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 the layout looks like kinda B:TR but some elements are not same toBatman invert. Yeah, I'm curious if they basically just ripped-off the B:TR lay-out; looked extremely similar.
Eric_Smith Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 if it is the same layout can b and m sue??
cobra_roll06 Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 yeah i thought it was very similiar and thought it was a batman clone until I realised it wasn't B&M trains.
adc9787 Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Can anyone please tell me why Giovanolla (spelling?) got out of the roller coaster trade... or are they still there just not custom designing rides anymore. In my opinion... they made some of the greatest rollercoasters! -Andrew
haux Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 if it is the same layout can b and m sue?? It's not the same layout, but B&M can sue. Just like Vernon Keenan's estate sued Summers for building Georgia Cyclone and Psyclone. It's not the same layout, though it is similar. The two corkscrews are together, where as on Batman, they are separated by some turns.
Reon Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 The layout looks completely different after the 2nd loop IMO. Batman has a lot of direction changes, and some stuff between the corkscrews. This thing just goes into a downward helix and then into the double screw before helixing back up to the brakes...
BDG Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 if it is the same layout can b and m sue?? Who says they have the (a) patent on that lay-out ?
mightypotato Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 the layout looks like kinda B:TR but some elements are not same toBatman invert. Yeah, I'm curious if they basically just ripped-off the B:TR lay-out; looked extremely similar. The layouts have the same beginning but the ends are NOTHING the same. Picture taken from rcdb
texcoaster Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 Anaconda is one of my all-time fave coasters. True, it resembles BTR for the first three inversions (sorta - the zero-G roll is very different feeling), but after that, the rides aren't even close. The spiral around the rock just makes the whole ride. For a non-pov video, go here http://coasterguy.squarespace.com/anaconda/ and scroll down to the bottom.
texcoaster Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 Found a better POV video on YouTube: There are a few profanities toward the end, just in case you're watching at work or school with the sound up.
alpengeist04 Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 ^Yes, that's a much better POV. Anaconda looks like a kick a** ride and pretty smooth too, at least from what I could tell from the video.
Worm Posted February 7, 2007 Author Posted February 7, 2007 yeah, its pretty hard to to make a POV of tower of terror. he has tried with his moms video camera and it broke... he could'nt hold his arm steady on the 6g's bottom and it hit the train. basically the ride goes like this. up on very steep lift, trutn, dangle over edge for about 25 seconds until it stops vertical (yes), and then suddenly it just drops and turns slightly right on the drop. you then hit the 6g rock bnottom underground and launch up into a right turn and slight left and into brakes.
texcoaster Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 I've been on TOT and Oblivion. They are similar in track layout ONLY. The ride is not the same at all. Some still pics and a description of the ride action can be found here: http://coasterguy.squarespace.com/tower-of-terror/
Reon Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 I've never been on any true vertical coasters (just top hats on TTD and StormRunner), but I can tell ToT sounds a lot more intense than oblivion. Aside from the theming (which looks superv IMO), Tower looks like it has some interesting twists to it. First of all, like the article states this thing creeps over the edge until its already gone verticle, while you can't see anything at all. And after that finally drops, Tower curves (unlike Oblivion) while flying down a mine shaft and into the hut (as opposed to falling into a big open hole.) Much more intense, even if that's the whole ride...
