Epcot Center

I'll be up in Orlando next week to hit up Walt Disney World and Epcot Center and more.

 

Does anybody know what the crowd control look like? My cousin and Aunt are doing two days of Epcot and Walt Disney World!

 

I curious to know if I can knock out Epcot and Disney World in one day and go instead to either Sea World, Marvel Super Hero Island or Bush Garden.

 

This is my first time there so i'm really looking foward to it but at the same time want to hit up as much as possible.

Epcot is a huge park. It's almost like 2 parks in one with Future World and World Showcase. It is difficult to see everything in Epcot in 1 day, let alone go to another park the same day.

Forget the Disney parks and head straight for Islands of Adventure on your first day then drive down to Busch Gardens for your second day,meet up with your family and see who had the best two days.

The crowds will be moderate next week. Epcot will take a full day to do, especially if you have never been. The Magic Kingdom also takes a full day. You can do Disney/MGM and Animal Kingdom in a half day though, as long as you enter either park right at opening. It really depends how much you like roller coasters on where to go on your trip. If you really love roller coasters then I would go to Busch Gardens or Islands of Adventure. Allow a full day at either one of those parks. Sea World is a nice park that can take a full day if you are into shows, but if you are just interested in rides I would probably skip that one.

I echo Erik's comments--it all depends on what kind of experience you're looking for.

 

If you want to do a "hit-the-highlights" park-hopping tour, these are the "must sees":

Tower of Terror

Rock'n'Roller Coaster (right next to each other for one-stop shopping)

 

MK

Splash Mountain

Space Mountain

Thunder Mountain

Mickey's Philharmagic (if you like "4D" movies)

 

Epcot

Mission: Space

Test Track

The Living Seas (with Nemo)

The American Adventure (best of Disney's big AA shows)

Maelstrom (short, but fun)

The time EPCOT takes depends on what you want to do. If you just want to hit all of the rides, it can be a half day park. But, you can spend a lot of time just wandering around World Showcase.

 

Also, the rides at EPCOT are mostly high-capacity. Lines for Mission: Space will be nearly non-existant, you can use the single rider line for Test Track, and Spaceship Earth/Nemo both have huge capacities, so I wouldn't worry about those. However, make sure to get a Fastpass for Soarin', as lines become very long for it.

It's near to impossible to do everything in one day, even if there were no crowds. I recommend going two days, but if you just want to ride the main attractions (Mission Space, Test Track, Soarin), you should be able to do it all in one day.

A tip for Mission space:

There are now two ways to experience it.

If you don't think the orange team-more intense training is right for you, try Green team-less intense training and to get you ready for orange team, i suggest you do the follow these tips.

Because the orange team centrifuge spins, you should try to keep your head against the headrest and focus forward (Even though the green

team centrifuge does not spin).

Oh really? I truly disagree. The only comparison you could really make between Disney and BGA is Animal Kingdom to BGA. BGA is much better than Animal Kingdom. There is plenty more to do and see, and many more credits to get!

Which IS, of course- what counts.

 

As for Mission:Space, get it done first with about 30 minutes minimum for any food to settle down before and same for after. Unless you feel like you're gonna fall down any second once off, then get something to eat.

On a good day, an hour an a half.

On a great day, an hour.

Chiming in late,

 

But you can hit most of the major items in Disney in a day. I've done it several times. You just have to make use of fast pass, stay at the cheapest disney hotel that day and use the "extra magic hours" to your advantage... oh and do some speed walking. It's best to break you trip down to at least 2 days so you can slow down and enjoy some of the food and other activities scattered around, but you can rush through the park if you must.

 

I found Friday in the offseason is a good day to do disney in one day. Usually the Magic Kingdom is the park that stays open the latest, but you can shift your day (using the extra magic hours) so that Epcot will be your last park.

 

I usually do it in this order:

 

In morning--

AK:

 

Fast pass: Everest

Wait in line for Kali Rapids

Bathroom

Go back to everest:

Fast pass: Countdown to Extinction

Hit the spinning coaster the Dino area

Bathroom.

Ride Countdown.

 

Leave park.

 

MGM Studios:

Fast pass: Rock-N-Roller Coaster

Get in line: for Tower of terror

Bathroom

You should be ready to ride Rock-n-Roller Coaster

Get beer and something to eat... chill for a second

 

Walk to backlot tour. You should time for that.

 

Go to Magic Kingdom. Now this park is usually the most crowded of the parks so you may not ride too much. However, I would fast pass Splash Mountain because that line is always horrible and has the longest wait time.

 

Go to Space Mountain and wait in that line. At least you aren't outside (in case it rains) and you can lean against the wall.

 

Buzz Light year--if you feel like shooting things.

Bathroom

Tomorrowland Transit.. If you want to sit down for a second.

You should be ready to head back towards Splash Mountain.

If you still have time, then get on Thunder Mountain.

Splash Mountain. You can do pirates or haunted mansion as well.

 

Bathroom.

 

Now head over the Epcot. By this time you'll have to fight your way out of the park because everyone is sitting down and generally blocking your path to wait for the parade. I am usually out of there before the floats come out.

 

Now I don't feel too much at Epcot except for Mission Space, food and drinks. If you stay at a Disney Hotel and it's friday you get extra hours at Epcot (at least when I was there). I got something to eat and then waited at Soaring around 9pm (with my wristband since I was staying at a disney hotel) then it was only a 1/2 hour wait.

 

Mission Space (you can do that one multiple times). Then do Test Track... save yourself a headache and just do the single rider line on that one. You should be able to hit other attractions at Epcot and be done by 12am to get some rest for the next day. I was able to hit most of the rides I wanted to go on including Nemo, and get something to eat as well. Then you can definitely hit IOA the next day... and you can buy a "fast pass" to bust out that day, although you may not need it in the offseason.

 

Also keep in mind Saturday has the extra magic hours for MGM; so you can almost keep that park off your list for one day, then check out of your hotel and hit that park early in the morning and be on the road around 10am to hit IOA.

 

Just have a foot massager handy.

About disney I think that the only parks that you can visit both in one day are MGM and AK. But if you want 2 I'm agree with MK and Ecopt. Best rides

 

Ecopt: Soarin, Test Track, Mission Space, Illuminations

Magic Kingdom: Space mountain, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Haunted House, Buzz Light year, Sticht's Great Escape.

EPCOT: Okay, this is what I would do. I would skip all the educational attractions/shows in Future World (and Honey I Shrunk the Audience is dross), they're pretty boring eg the Ellen one. Go straight to Mission Space & Test Track.

 

Magic Kingdom: Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Haunted Mansion (how can you not go to this? ), Big Thunder Mountain Railway, Buzz Lightyear

 

MGM: Rock'n'Rollercoaster, Tower of Terror, Star Tours, Indiana Jones show

 

Animal Kingdom: Expedition Everest, Killamanjaro Safari, Kali River Rapids (which I didn't end up doing as it was a really cold day when I did AK)

 

Note that I'm not necessarily saying you could fit this all in on one day but

these are the things to hit in each for the parks you choose to visit.

 

But you definitely want to hit IoA for Duelling Dragons & Hulk. Yet again I didn't hit Dudley Do-Right or Jurassic Park River Adventure because of the day being cold but they are ones to do. JPRA I did in Hollywood and it was fun. DDR looks like a perfect combination of great theming and high level of wetness. The park in general is excellent.
