larrygator Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Six Flags 2007 Season Pass announcement when guests purchase a Season Parking Pass, it will be valid at every Six Flags-branded park all year long.
SharkTums Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 This is one of the funniest Press Releases ever!!! Well, I guess if you're going to try and copy anyone's model, Disney is the one to ripoff! "Including Industry First, 'Dream Nite'" "In addition, some Six Flags parks will offer extended hours exclusively for Six Flags Season Passholders. For example, next summer Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ will be hosting "RISE & SCREAM - Extreme Coaster Mornings" " "Some Six Flags parks will also be offering "Coasters After Dark," when parks will stay open past their published closing times exclusively for Season Passholders, who will have the run of the park and enjoy the park's major roller coasters -- in the dark!" 5 Free Bring a Friend Coupons...wow, that's crazy!
larrygator Posted October 17, 2006 Author Posted October 17, 2006 too bad the extra hours at SFGAdv will probably feature staring at coasters that are not running, with only Skull Mountain and Runaway Train open. I'm just psyched to not have to pay for parking at the other SF Parks, at least that adds real value in my books. As for the bring a friend tickets, not sure about all the other SF parks, but SFGAdv has always had them. Unfortunately my friends always have season passes so I rarely use them.
ginzo Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 That Press Release is great! the world's largest regional theme park company Tricky language there. Is this how they're going to present themselves now? The largest *regional* theme park operator. Sell a few more parks and they're going to be "the world's second largest regional theme park operator". By comparison, Cedar Point, another theme park company, requires its season pass holders to pay as much as $55 extra to gain access to all its theme parks. In addition, when guests purchase a Season Parking Pass, it will be valid at every Six Flags-branded park all year long. Cedar Point? Do we not even know the names of our competitors? Maybe that extra $55 is why Cedar Fair is solidly in the black, and paying dividends. This is as opposed to having debt at 2x your annual revenue, and an ingenius plan to get out of debt by selling off your prime assets. The free parking is a nice perk though. That's a welcome change.
coasterjunkie91350 Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 I can understand what sf is doing hey they got a former disney exec running the company and hes useing ideas that made disney alot of money in the past I will have my 07 pass for a xmas gift i already asked mom to renew it but i will be alot happier if sf would ask disney before useing their ideas in the future
easytoremember Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Are there any details anywhere about which parks will have the "Coasters After Dark?" specificaly SFOG. Ya free parking at other parks is good, also the bring a friend to another park. We often go to other parks, but when its a SF park, my parents never come in, because they don't want to pay. 5 bring a friend passes? I'm sure theres one each for mothers day/fathers day, maybe one whenever you want, and the other two are a weekday only the week of june, and a sunday during "Spring Fling." I still ending up using most of them.
Meteornotes Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 I have always wondered how many people use their pass at more than one park during a year. I'm thinking that number is pretty small. Free parking anywhere is an amazing bonus, though. I never figured they'd do that. Almost makes me want to buy a SFA parking pass next year. It would seal the deal if they didn't insist that it must be put on the windshield... dt
savemagicmountain Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Every Six Flags Season Pass -- which pays for itself in fewer than two visits -- is valid at all 13 Six Flags-branded parks in the US this might be a dumb question, but i thought there was around 30 parks?
larrygator Posted October 17, 2006 Author Posted October 17, 2006 ^^Dave - 2007 parking passes at SFGAdv are stickers affixed to your season pass, not sure about SFA. for my SFGAdv parking pass in 2006 they let me stick it on the back of my season pass instead of putting it on the window, but again ot sure about SFA
DerekRx Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 I originally didn't purchase a parking pass this year because I refuse to pay $45 for one. However, if it is just affixed to your season pass and not to your car window, that may actually work for me. I'll have to evaluate how many SF parks I intend to get to next year, and for how many of them I'll actually need to park for. This year I visited like 7 SF parks, but only had to pay for parking 1 time, and therefore my parking pass didn't get enough use for its cost!

This is as opposed to having debt at 2x your annual revenue, and an ingenius plan to get out of debt by selling off your prime assets. FYI, after having acquired the Paramount Parks from CBS Corp, Cedar Fair actually now carries a heavier debt load ($2.7 billion) than Six Flags ($2.1 billion).
RaptorBoyASU Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 ^Yes, but they are probably going to still pay out dividends. Carrying a debt load isn't the same as being in the black. It means Cedar Fair is making more money than their interest/loan payments.
jamesdillaman Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 ^ Yes but that's understandable. When you're a growing company, you take out loans, that's what happens. Cedar Point has every intention of paying off those loans, and you have to also look at their net worth, which includes stock price, and Cedar Fair's net worth is a lot more than Six Flags. -James Dillaman
Crazy4Coasters! Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 ok am confused, look at this quote... "In addition, when guests purchase a Season Parking Pass, it will be valid at every Six Flags-branded park all year long." It seems like they added the word parking out of nowhere. In the begining of the press release it clearly states the announcement of the pre-sale of SEASON PASS, not Parking Pass. Why did they say Season Parking Pass. I read through it like 5 times and am confused. Where does it say the season pass gives you free parking for the whole year? I even went to www.sixflags.com and they give u 6 reasons to get the season pass and not one of them says free parking. Someone please clarify... Thanks
Sue Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 I'm curious how this will work at a park like SFKK where the parking has nothing to do with the park itself?

Thanks It doesn't say parking is included with the pass, just that if you purchase a Season Parking Pass (for an additional $40-$50) you can use it at ANY Six Flags park now. It's no longer a window sticker, just either a sticker on your pass or a letter "P" printed on your pass, so you always have it with you.
Turtleggjp Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 What about the Extreme Passes with free parking and flash passes included? I didn't see those on sale yet.
rollocoast Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 ^ I wouldn't be suprised if those went away. ^^ Sue - I've been wondering the same thing...
sixflagsmagicmountain Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I hope they don't get rid of the extreme pass. Just found this: Click here for full article The new rules ban unruly and offensive behavior, including line-jumping and holding places. Clothes with rude or offensive language or graphics will also not be allowed -- and shirts cannot be turned inside out as a solution, the company said. The guidelines will be posted outside ticket counters and enforced by employees, Goldberg said. Guests who violate the rules risk getting thrown out of the park -- without a refund, it said. Doesn't have anything to do with the season pass, but I didn't want to make a new thread for it.
rollocoast Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 ^ None of those rules are actually "new." What will be new is if they decide to enforce them
