Ed Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 http://www.ukrides.info/cambmrx.htm Hi Camelot! I'd like to take this chance to laugh at all the ACEr's who boasted that nobody would ever be able to ride this #1 again..
dr.gumbo Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 WHAT!!! Out of all the parks I expected it to go to, it went to camalot How can they afford that, they arnt exacly the richest park in the world, or are they! EDIT: I thought they tried to get a Boomerang once but wer'nt allowed it because of its height, this is taller isnt it, unless they dig a big hole like alton towers
robbalvey Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 HA! Now more people will be able to ride it and see it wasn't the "end all, be all" of Schwarzkopf rides!!!! Fun? YES! As good as what some ACErs told me when they thought it was getting destroyed forever, and when they had no idea Elissa and I would be riding it a month later? NOT AT ALL!!!! --Robb "Those were the BEST SQUID BALLS EVER!!!!" Alvey ps. Just to be clear on that story I was litterally told by one ACEr "It's too bad you won't be able to ride it because it really is the best Schwarzkopf coaster you'll never get to ride!" - Seriously. This is what I was told!!!
Dailey Enterprizes Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 ^ Haha, oh dear god, it's people like that make me hesitate to say that I'm an ACEr.
DerekRx Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 That's fantastic. First, the ride was saved, second its going some place where it may actually be accessible to ride, not like a shopping mall in Malasia or some mountain town in the Andes. If and when it actually does get erected and opens at Camelot, I'll actually have a reason to go there! I bet Joe is estatic!
Shockwave Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Holy moly! Camelot could be getting Joe-varian Mountain Railroad?!?!? This is SWEET! (Oh, and Hi Joe.)
robbalvey Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 It will be interesting to see where the Double Loop and the Bobsled end up. I really can't see them selling that one coaster and not the other two. All those rides were in such GREAT condition I can't see them getting scrapped. --Robb
ParkTrips Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 horray for it not being shipped to some isolated location in south america!
Shockwave Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 ^Given the purchase of this one, if they get sold I'd imagine they'd go to park like Camelot - parks which don't have a really big coaster, and don't have a big budget to spend on one. Until now, the park really doesn't have much worth shouting about. A Maurer spinner, a Pinfari Looper, a coaster powered by a petrol engine which is quirky if nothing else. Since they lost the Tower Of Terror, the park hasn't fared too well. But if this coaster gets built, and with the demise of Southport, it really could be Camelot's chance to shine again.
SharkTums Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 See, this is a good thing! Southport closes, and the UK gets a better coaster than anything they had at that park! The world found a way to Balance Out!
ECZenith Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 I'm glad I spent my $50 bucks elsewhere this year... Good news though!
dr.gumbo Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 This will make british enthusiasts (including me) insane! This is a fantastic edition to the park
Ed Posted October 10, 2006 Author Posted October 10, 2006 http://www.rcdb.com/id3670.htm Camelot are also supposed to be getting Southport's SpaceShot ride. Which totally owns Ice Blast @ BPB.
Shockwave Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 ^Indeed it does. It's amazing what an extra full shot does! One thing I've noticed about BMRX... Capacity: 1500 riders per hour Obviously they're never gonna need 5 trains on it, but does Camelot even get that many people in on a day?
RCfanatic Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Wow awsome! Another good Schwarzkopf saved! Now i will get the chance to ride this great coaster !
Divv3k Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Great to know that I'll be able to ride a Schwarzkopf at Camelot again. Hopefully this will be the big thing that rejuvenates this floundering park. I'm way more excited about this ride than I am about the SLC going to Blackpool.
robbalvey Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 I had thought there was a rumor going around that this park was going to close? Was that just a rumor? I'm assuming yes based on this. Also, it would appear that with Southport's closure, Camelot might have a much better survival chance. Which park was closer to Southport - Gullivers or Camelot? --Robb
Divv3k Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Camelot's closer to Southport (not by much). I think there may be a bit of truth to the rumour of closure. This is what it says on Camelot's website. Contrary to rumours that we are closing, we intend to be very much open and offering a fantastic day out for many years to come! The development plans recently announced by our owners, Prime Resorts, discussed the long term future of the site. However, whatever route is adopted, this is a long way off happening. As a result, it is very much business as usual, and we will still be here with all your favourite shows and attractions at fantastic prices for a good number of seasons yet. Indeed, talking of exciting developments, watch this space for the 2007 season, we're expecting a big, exciting new addition! That's slightly different to what it said before. Seems that the park will keep going just now but things will need to pick up in the future or the park's condition will be reconsidered. Hope this new ride is a success and the park manages to pick up more ex-Southport custom.
Shockwave Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Indeed it was a rumour! But it was a lot more concrete than just hearsay. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/lancashire/5048858.stm I reckon they're giving the amusement park business one more push before they decide what will become of it.
WildMouse Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 And I say good luck to them. I'll certainly be giving them my support next year. I fell in love (literally) with BMRX after watching Robb's video (reminded me of the fantastic Lisebergbanan). So the fact its been shipped to the UK is a dream come true. God bless Schwarzkopf!
thomas2 Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Another Schwarzkopf that comes back to Europe! Yay!
apollo210 Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Hooray, a Schwarzkopf goes back to England! w00t! This might help the park survive now and attract thrill seekers.
robbalvey Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Oh, yeah...and don't forget you can download a POV of BMRX here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21321 As well as the park's other Schwarzkopf "Double Loop" http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21320 --Robb
hazzaman Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 i cant wait for this to be built i hope it has all the themeing and everything not just the track eww lol
robbalvey Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 ^ Would it really be "ewwww" bad if it was just the coaster? If you watch the POV you'll see that the theming really didn't add that much to the ride. --Robb
