Why is Cedar Point getting a dive coaster? Terrible decision by Cedar Fair IMO.

 

I agree 100%. I feel like Cedar Point should never build another coaster. Hell, none of the Cedar Fair parks should ever build a new coaster. I think that's what's best. No new coasters would really boost attendance, and keep people wanting to come back to the parks.

Wait... so you're arguing that other parks need a new coaster because they have long wait times?? Have you ever been to Cedar Point?? When we were at the park last month wait times for most coaster were around 3 hours. . . That's not really "short lines."

 

Now if you were to compare the last time specific Cedar Fair parks got a new coaster as to the last time Cedar Point got a new coaster maybe then you would have an argument. But right now you don't.

Wait... so you're arguing that other parks need a new coaster because they have long wait times?? Have you ever been to Cedar Point?? When we were at the park last month wait times for most coaster were around 3 hours. . . That's not really "short lines."

 

Now if you were to compare the last time specific Cedar Fair parks got a new coaster as to the last time Cedar Point got a new coaster maybe then you would have an argument. But right now you don't.

 

I meant last time they received a coaster. 3 years for CP as opposed to anywhere from 6 to 12 years for the other parks.

Sheesh! I've been fairly critical of Cedar Fair in recent years, but from all of your posts so far, your axe to grind with them makes mine look diminutive!

 

For the record, I don't think a Dive Machine is in the top three of what would have been a smart next coaster addition to The Point, but it's FAR from a "terrible" decision, and will be another massive hit with GP and enthusiasts alike! I know I'm certainly looking forward to it, even though I would be anticipating an RMC (either ground-up it Mean Steak makeover), Intamin woodie, or B&M Flying Coaster even more!

 

BTW, are you not familiar with how Cedar Point operates? Aside from a lengthy stretch when they were busy acquiring the Paramount parks and weathering a recession, they have always made regular, somewhat frequent coaster additions. Getting another coaster so soon is "business as usual" for them!

I'm just going to say this and it really needs to written on the top of every Cedar Fair park's thread...

 

BUILDING NEW COASTERS HAS ALMOST NOTHING TO DO WITH HOW LONG A PARK HAS "WAITED" OR IF A PARK "DESERVES" ONE.

 

There. I said it. Cedar Fair isn't going to be like "oh yeah I feel bad for Kings Dominion that we haven't "given" them a new coaster in a while so we should probably do that instead of making a lot more money doing the same thing at Cedar Point."

^But then they would be denying an enthusiast's fanboy-driven pipe dream, and their park becomes NEGLECTED!! That makes too much sense to work. A $30 million coaster for KD is NEEDED or the park will go bankrupt!!

Except its not been 6-12yrs. Its 5yrs since KD got a $25 giga, Carowinds massively successful B&M giga installed THIS year $30 mill?, Banshee at Kings Island opened last year and is a raved about addition 18-20 million? , 3 years ago another massive B&M giga opened at Canadas wonderland 25-30million? . So an estimated what $75+ Million in coasters at former Paramount parks.

 

CP is a destination park with multiple places to stay overnight and massive income from hotels as well as the huge income of fastlane and other premium type perks at the park. Cedar Fair is a business first and foremost not Rollercoaster Tycoon. And remember CP did got 6-7 yrs without a coaster from Maverick to Gatekeeper so its really only received 2 coasters in the last 8yrs or 9yrs. Kings Dominion did get rid of a coaster but so did CP as well, Wildcat and Disaster Transport plus other family rides. Cedar Fair is looking long term.

I like how people on the internet think they know what a park needs more than the people who run the parks or the parent company.

On a side note, went back in may to the park and stayed at the sandcastle suits. Going back next may and was wondering if we should check out another hotel on property.

 

We went for the first time in Juky and stayed at the breakers, it turly was an amazing experience... We even got upgraded to a 9th floor room facing the park!

I would imagine it was more roomy then sandcastle? It was a little tight with 5 people in the small room.
