dboor129
I'm glad the name isn't a FairHawk, but the ride is not at the northern border of the park. It's more southeast. I'm pretty sure its referring to the fact that our State is up north, and that we used to have a hockey team called the North Stars, I really don't think it had anything to do with its location at the park... VF15
I hope they bring back the webcam for North Star construction. They didn't have it last year, presumably due to Flying Eagles not taking long to set up, but this looks like reason enough to bring it back. The Geek Mojo
Think I'll hold off on that Minnesota trip another year. Or years...No telling when Valleyfair is going to get a new coaster. I can ride a starflyer at my own home park.
RollerColester
Not exactly new heights. I wonder why they decided to have construction done in December. I know the winters can be bad, but the construction will be complete five months before it opens. I thought some parks complete construction before year end so it can be considered on the prior years budget. So North Star would technically be included in the 2016 budget. Don't quote me on that though. Wish they would have completed North Star for 2016 since they added Flying Eagles and the Amphitheater revamp in the same area anyway. Cedar Fair has made some interesting announcements today. Doesn't seem like a ton of investment dollars are being made compared to prior years. I don't really count Cedar Point as they are just on their own playing field. Cost concious flat rides for all in 2017!! Makes me think the debt due in the near future has a lot to do with the conservative approach.

I'm sure an RMC transformation would be costly if that is coming to their park!
millertpr
My guess is that some (if not all) of the Geauga lake water slides will be coming to Valleyfair (within several years, likely NOT in 2017) Remember, Cedar Fair now has two Tornado slides (the one from Knotts) as well as this one. My guess on what could possibly be coming our way: Body Slide/Tube Slide Complex; Really thrilling and tall ProSlide Tornado; Could also see this going to Cedar Point and/or Carowinds, so don't get your hopes up. Water fortress. Kind of an older, lousier one, but still what VF needs.
WolfBobs
^^That's the old Hook's Lagoon water structure from old GL. NOT the one currently at WWK. That structure was removed in 2000-ish for the SF conversion. This is the current structure.
millertpr
Oops! My mistake entirely. Either way, the new one looks much nicer and I would be much more happy to have that one.

CaptainUnknown
While I could easily see a slide structure moved, the water fortress not so much. What would be the logistics behind moving something like that? If we do get some stuff from GLWWK, when would we get it? Would it be for 2017 or beyond? I'm guessing the closure was planned before North Star was announced. So just call me a little skeptical. CW and MIA haven't announced yet. I heard that CW is looking to expand their waterpark and MIA is in desperate need of a new thrilling attraction and they have a good waterpark. PhantomPoster32
The water fortresses are modular so it would be taken apart and numbered and then put back up. VF is the only park in the chain without one. I think MIA might get the Huss Breakdance that is in CF storage.
Mdcastle
Hmm Modern body / tube slide tower Decent family play area A marquee ride Those are exactly three of the four pieces Valleyfar needs to have a good as opposed to poor waterpark (upgraded from "terrible" with the new slides and "joke" with the new wave pool.) The other being a mat racer.
Littlemonster
So with the North Star announcement, what do you think the following years have to offer after 2017! So my ten (and a half) year prediction will go as followed! 2018: Carnival ride Package (i.e. WOF and Carowinds) 2019: General Park improvements (Dinos removed) 2020: B&M invert 2021: Water Park Expansion 2022: General Park improvements (Excalibur Removed) 2023: Big Flat takes it's place 2024: General Improvements 2025: Water Park Expansion 2026: Family Ride Package 2027: RMC coaster
millertpr
How about 5 years. 10 years is completely illogical, as so much can change during that HUGE Span. I don't like listing by year, so here's what I think will be added through 2021. - Skyscreamer (North Star) - Mat Racer Waterpark Slide - Large Raft Slide - Water Fortress in Waterpark - Removal of Excalibur - New Gate in back of Park - Dark Ride • I could see this one falling through. Cedar Fair has now gone two years w/o a Triotech, contradictory to their original chart detailing a dark ride coming in 2017 and beyond. - An Off-Year or extremely small addition, i.e. (return of enterprise, planet snoopy) - B&M Coaster • In my personal opinion, Valleyfair doesn't really need an inverted coaster, as they already have Steel Venom. I would doubt that Cedar Fair would go with a wing coaster, so I will go out on a wing and predict a FLOORLESS coaster.
Mr. Corn
My Plan: 2017: North Star and the Suprise Addition of Thunder Falls from Geauga Lake 2018: Huge year with the addition of a Gale Force Clone 2019: Planet Snoopy/Overall Improvements 2020: Family/Thrilling Flats 2021: A small family coaster (like Gadget's Go Coaster) and/or A New Show with more flats Now both Carowinds and Valleyfair were listed as growth parks, so if they got something like Carowinds got, I'd expect a lot more, maybe along the lines of this: 2017: North Star and Thunder Falls from Geauga Lake 2018: B&M invert or B&M Wing 2019: Planet Snoopy/Overall Improvements 2020: Major Flats Expansion and a waterslide complex 2021: Mass Effect/Plants vs. Zombies Dark Ride in traditional dark ride form instead of show styled form 2022: Mack Youngster Coaster The next coaster I could see after that is a Gale Force Clone in 2025 or 2026
RollerColester
2018: Water Park Renovation (New back Entrance/Parking Lot) 2019: Return of Enterprise/General Improvements 2020*: B&M Invert or Wing in place of Dinos *World ends the day before opening day 2020 as God refuses to let Valleyfair fans get their long awaited B&M... garyman6
Anyone else notice in the promotional video for NorthStar that there is an unknown coaster planted between Wild Thing and Renegade? This is a brand new video made just for Valleyfair. Why would they put coaster tracks in there that are not in the park? I'ts the only thing that I can't recognize. I suppose it could be Excalibur but the track profile doesn't fit. Any thoughts?

Mdcastle
Once concept for how the GL slide tower, tornado and family play area (as well as a mat racer) could fit (as well as a flowrider, yeah right). They just open that stupid gate for a new main entrance and Looping Starship is moved somewhere else or sacrificed to Poseidon. In another scenario the tornado is squeezed between the slides and the existing raft ride, requiring relocation of the restrooms, where it's probably about time to rebuild them anyway, leaving Starship alone. There seems to always be inaccuracies in these banners that parks make. I wouldn't read into it at all... Seems like Valleyfair's season passes are always on the cheaper end compared to other parks in the chain. Probably due to the lack of an excellent water park and a smaller footprint. Always found that interesting as that is a major factor in Valleyfair being second/third to last in revenues in the chain. Building the water park up to respectable standards would help a lot in being able to charge more for season passes and tickets, as well as market the whole 2 parks for the prices of 1 more effectively. Doesn't mean what's displayed in the picture/video will be actually at the park.

It was made specifically for the promotion of North Star. Everything else in the video (Yes the dark one where North Star is the only thing in color) can be easily identified as being in Valleyfair. Take another look, its right in front of the new slide tower and it doesn't look like Excalibur or mad mouse. From left to right you have Wild Thing, Slide Tower, Power Tower, Renegade, Ferris Wheel, Corkscrew, and Steel Venom. North Star is right behind the Ferris Wheel but right in front of the slide tower and between Wild Thing and Power Tower there is coaster track unlike anything else Valleyfair has. Everything else is accurate, Why would they just throw in some random track? I don't know! The video/picture I'm referring to is the top header of their facebook page. VFhauntblog
I dont neccesarily have a timeline plan but all I know is Valleyfair has the space to add ATLEAST 3 rollercoasters and still enough space for some flat rides if they plan it properly and accordingly. But that wont happen if they proceed fill those potential spaces with cheap space wasting filler attractions. And I dont mean just rollercoasters. Put something worthwhile instead of just attractions we dont neccesarily need. Edited August 23, 2016 by VFhauntblog
