  1. I assume they chose not to place it there because it would come in too close of a proximity with Wild Thing. They also probably don't want to deal with people throwing objects from the swings at oncoming Wild Thing trains.
  2. I got excited when I logged on to see 4 new pages of discussion had appeared on this forum, but then I was let down to see it was all pointless aruguing and no actual discussion about the development of Valleyfair.
  3. Are you talking about the video posted to Valleyfair's Facebook page? If so, where do you see this "unknown" coaster? I don't see an unknown coaster.
  4. Love this addition, looks like a solid ride. A little taller than Wild Thing, a little shorter than Power Tower, not bad at all. I also really like the name North Star, it's unique and not just a basic over used name like the rest of the windseekers.
  5. Does anyone know what time the announcement will take place tomorrow? I assume it will be in the morning/afternoon like the rest of the parks.
  6. Last night I saw a video on KARE 11 news showing the flooding at Valleyfair. The flooding was so bad that even the Xtreme Swing area was completely under water. I wish I had a photo to share but I couldn't find the one that was on the news.
  7. I'm betting on just one, hopefully I'm right. But considering the way Cedar Fair treats it's parks, I'm probably wrong.
  8. I wonder that as well. There are plenty of other spots in the park where a Star Flyer could go, such as Wild Thing's turnaround or possibly even scramblers old spot. It doesn't make sense to me why they would remove a ride to replace it with another. Unless enterprise really is aging and needed to be scrapped. Hopefully enterprise will make a return in 2018.
  9. To be fair, how many people have been killed on theme park rides this year? Sure there have been some accidents but very few fatalities. It's actually been sort of a lucky year in that regard. An entire coaster train derailed and crashed into a kiddy ride at M&D's and nobody was killed. It sounds like in this incident the child will likely be fine. Aside from the Verruckt accident what really happened? Someone drowned in a swimming pool at Knoebels which is terrible but doesn't really count. I'm sure there have been others but I can't think of any. You're right on that. I can't recall there being very many fatalities this year, so I would agree that 2016 has been a lucky year in terms of deaths. I just wish there was a way to prevent all fatalities at all amusement parks worldwide. I mean there is absolutely no reason why anyone should lose their life at an amusement/theme park, there's just no excuse. Sadly more people will continue to be killed at parks no matter what.
  10. Does anyone know how exactly how the star flyers work? By that I mean is it just the cables that pull the gondola to the top? Or is there another mechanism that helps pull it up?
  11. Hey everyone, followed this thread for a long time and decided to join in on the conversations. As for the possibility of a Star Flyer, I'm all for it as long as it is at least 270 feet. 300 feet would be very easy to advertise as it would be the tallest ride in the park. I live in the Minneapolis area and am currently staying at Cedar Point. The Windseeker here is a great ride in my opinion, and would love to see Valleyfair get something similar. There's something about chains that scare the living crap outta me. They just seem like they belong on swingsets and not on 300 foot amusement park rides, but I'm sure they are just as safe as any other ride.
