canada Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 Ok so I'll be visiting new jersey next tuesday until saturday. We'll be staying at Atlantic City. I have a couple questions. 1) Is 1 day enough to get all the major coasters in? Lets say Toro, Ka, Nitro, Medusa and Superman. Do you think I could even be able to ride some more then once? 2) What day would be best to go to the park? (from Tuesday to Saturday) 3) Does the Qbot make a big difference? Would I be able to ride the major coasters more then twice? 4) Is there any good thrill rides? 5) How much do the Go Karts cost and how fast do they go? 6) What are the best seats on the big 5 coasters. (KA, TORO, NITRO, MEDUSA,SUPERMAN) 7) Does anyone have a plan where I could ride everything I want but in an organized way so that I wont be running around often? Thanks a lot in advance guys.. CANT WAIT!!!
robbalvey Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 I've moved this into the coasters forum since we haven't been to SFGAdv since before Ka was added. I will say though that I *HIGHLY* reccomend getting a Qbot. Could mean the difference of riding everything once or *maybe* twice to getting tons of rides in on your favorite coasters. --Robb
downunder Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 1. Depends on what day, saturday, sunday - defintely not, other days -probably, go to the parks website and work out what you want to ride, it's best to have a strategy. 2.Middle of the week is best, I belive AAA even has discounts on Wednesdays under the show your card and save program. 3. Qbot definitely makes a difference, the Superman Flyer has horrible lines even on quiet days, and Kingda Ka and El Toro can be very bad. 4. Thrill rides, the park has great coasters check Nitro, El Toro, Kingda Ka, The Chiller (may not be open), Medusa to name a few. Haven't really tried the flats but they don't have many. 6. Medusa definitely front, haven't ridden KK yet but I hear front, and El Toro back, Chiller - I liked the front. Hope you have a great time, I'll be there on the 28th, can't wait to ride El Toro.
coastakid Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 I may be young, but I am wise, and a true GADV'er. 1.) One day is enough to get on all major coasters, like you want to, and possibly a second ride later on. 2.) I would say Wensday, or Thursday 3.) I would recommend getting Flash Pass if you want to have a guarenteed re-ride. 4.) There are a "few" good flats like Twister, Space Shuttle, but that is pretty much it! (GADV really needs to pick up some more flats) There are some good water-rides like Rip-tide, Congo River Rapids, Saw Mill Log Flume, and also Movie Town Water Effect. 5.)I wouldn't waste my time, but I am pretty sure it is 6-8$ a ride, and they aren't the best go-carts. Pretty slow IMO 6.) -Kingda Ka = Front, no explanation needed -El Toro = Back, for the airtime -Nitro = Back, for the only airtime available on the ride -Medusa = Anywhere, Anywhere, but front has a great view -Superman = Middle, gives best +G's on Pretzel Loop -Batman:The Ride = Back, has insane + forces -Batman & Robin are unfortunetley closed due to a major wheel assembley problem with Robin. 7.)You can pretty much plan your day by ear, since Kingda Ka and El Toro break down (somewhat) often, mainly Ka, but El Toro has its bugs to work out too! There is also a Skyride which takes you across the park, and a bridge which crosses from Plaza del Carnival to Frontier Adventures, which has been closed, but recently re-opened with El Toro. (P.S. -I am heading out to the park again the same week as you on Thursday...You can PM me if you have any more questions, or wanna meet up or something?)

CANT WAIT!!! 1) If you get a Q-bot you will be able to ride some rides twice but you should really do two days at the park. 2) I say the best time is the middle of the week. Get there before opening. 3)Yes it makes a huge difference, but if you get a Qbot I recommend gettnig Gold Service. No Wait. 4) Space shuttle is about the only one I can think of. 5) I think but Im not postivite that the Go Karts cost 8 to 10 bucks. They go pretty fast. 6)KA-Front.....Toro-Back Seat......Nitro-Front....Medusa-Back.......Superman-doesnt matter where you sit. 7)Ka first......then El Toro.....Medusa......Skull Mountain......Nitro....B:TR.....Superman......GASM
DerekRx Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 I really can't tolerate the park much anymore, especially in the summer, but a good plan would be get to the park at opening (probably either Wednesday or Thursday would be best, base it off the weather). Go right to get a Flash Pass, then head to Superman and ride that. By then Kingka Ka should be opened, so go Flash Pass that, and while you're waiting for your return time, hit El Toro and Rolling Thunder. If there's time, do Medusa and Runaway Train. Hit Ka, followed by GASM if its reopened, and then head over to the other side of the park. Flash either Batman or Nitro, waiting in line for the other, credit whore the kiddie coaster if you want, and then hit Skull Mountain followed by Blackbeard. You've now done every credit. It'd probably be a good idea to then return to El Toro and Flash that again and then ride anything you want to reride while waiting for Toro. If the line isn't too bad, even stand in line for that again while waiting for your Flash Pass time to come up.
canada Posted August 4, 2006 Author Posted August 4, 2006 Thanks guys.. one last thing. I've never used a Qbot before so can anyone tell me how it works? I scan a ride and it tells me the amount of time I have to wait to ride it? Do I go in from a different lane? Does it flash and tell me when its time to come because let's say I'm waiting in line for another ride and its time to ride the coaster I scanned... do I have to immediately get off the line? Also wheres the QBOT located?
coastakid Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 This will awnser ALL of your questions about Q-bot (a.k.a FLASHpass) http://www.lo-qusa.com/flashpass.html
ddaver177 Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 Enjoy your day. Hopefully Ka does not go down. I have been there two days and both days it was down. Long Live TTD.
IwantRevenge Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 Here this is how i dp EVERY day in SFgadv and i can get it all done in about 8hours (including lunch, and wait times) 1. KingDa Ka Second row. Get to the park aobut 10 or 9:30 and go straight to KK it will still be about an hour, but it's much better than 3 hours. Second row on KK is exactly the same as the first, Becuase of intamins stadium seating you get the Exact same view. 2. El Toro, Any row- The line for ET will be about 2hours by now, but considering that it's about 11 by the time you get off KK, when you get off this you can go straight to Lunch. 3. Lunch, i would prefer going to Best Of tHe West near the log flume becuase it's closest to your next ride. 4. Medusa Front or Back row- Becuase of it's place all the way in the back corner of the park lines are normally short. 5. Nitro- Any row- Sure it's a long walk form Medusa to Nitro, but you have finished one side of the park time to move onto this side. 6. Batman: The Ride- Front- assuming the line isn't long. Belvie it or not this little ride can pack 1hr queues. 7. Repeat rides, lfat rides and water rides, So now you have finished off all the good coasters, take your tie to re-ride your favorites, or check out the few flat rides and water rides. I would not suggest riding El Toro or KingDa Ka again. Rides to skip: Great American Scream Machine Superman: Ultimate flight Rides not to Miss: The Twister Fantasy Fling erUPtion All of this can be done WITH OUT a Q-bot. You can even get it all done in 6hours.
Rider117 Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 One thing you will need to have an enjoyable time.....Gold Flash Pass. It is as simple as that, if you get one you will have a good trip.
robbalvey Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 Here this is how i dp EVERY day in SFgadv and i can get it all done in about 8hours (including lunch, and wait times) ok, please don't take offense to this, but I really think this is not the best plan for SFGAdv or ANY park for that matter...... 1. KingDa Ka Second row. Get to the park aobut 10 or 9:30 and go straight to KK it will still be about an hour, but it's much better than 3 hours. Second row on KK is exactly the same as the first, Becuase of intamins stadium seating you get the Exact same view. First off, DO NOT EVER get to a park right at opening (10:00) get there as EARLY AS POSSIBLE!!!! You want to be IN FRONT of the crowd that is getting in that day, not in the middle or in the back. And why would you even consider WAITING an hour for Ka when you can get a FlashPass and considerably cut down your wait in line? 2. El Toro, Any row- The line for ET will be about 2hours by now, but considering that it's about 11 by the time you get off KK, when you get off this you can go straight to Lunch. Again, I would never EVER suggest someone that they wait in line 2 hours for something. Why would you when you could NOT wait at all with a FlashPass? Rides to skip:Great American Scream Machine Superman: Ultimate flight I'm going to make the assumtion that the original poster has never been to SFGadv. Why would you reccomend they skip coasters? Especially one of the only 3 existing models of the B&M flyer and one of the tallest looping coasters in the world? Maybe they might not be that amazing, agreed, but if you've never been to the park, and you're armed with a FlashPass, why skip them? Rides not to Miss:The Twister Fantasy Fling erUPtion It's The Twister your standard every-state-fair-has-one Top Spin? Why would you suggest missing S:UF but reccomend not to miss a run-of-the-mill Top Spin? All of this can be done WITH OUT a Q-bot. You can even get it all done in 6hours. But why waste your time in line when you can get a Q-bot and get on more rides or multiple rides on your favorites? Personally, my TIME is worth a lot more than the cost of the Q-bot, and if I'm coming from out of the country to visit a park I've never been to, or even haven't been to that often, I want to get the most riding in for the time I have there regardless of an incremental additional cost. Personally I'd follow Derek's plan. That makes the most logical sense to me. --Robb
IwantRevenge Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 ^ the reason I don't buy a Q-bot is if El Toro's line is 2 hours then you still HAVE to wait 2 hours until you get on,your just not stuck in the queue, That mean if you reserve KingDa Ka and the wiat is 3hours you can't reserve anything else until the 3hours is up, and considering how much the Gold is(even though it seems worth it but $100 for 2 people is outrageous!) I just don't see it being worth it. THe Q-bot really only help me once. But this is all my opinion. But if you can afford it, go for the gold it cuts the waiting time by 75% percent. Also about S:UF if iI were you i'd do it because it's your first time but other than that it's nothing special. As for gASM, if you must do it, Bring a pillow.
larrygator Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 The problem you will come against at SFGAdv will always be closed rides. Today the park was fairly empty but KK had a two hour line when it was running and El Toro was at least 45 minutes (when it was running). S:UF had a ridiculously long line. Chiller was not running, nor were a couple of flats so the lines became longer on the major coasters. Nitro was pretty quick but unfortunately a girl passed out from the heat which added delays for many people. If one has never been on a haunted swing/mad house then Houdini's Escape is a must ride. Honestly most of the flats at SFGAdv completely blow. Just in the past year three of the better ones are gone, Rodeo Stampede, Spinmeister and now Freefall. The only coaster worth waiting for the front is S:UF is you really need the view. But then again I'm not a big fan of the front row.
coasterguy618 Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 ^Or a big fan of the queue? Yea seriously. Why whould you ride S:UF instead of El Toro or KK????
ParkTrips Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 S:UF had a ridiculously long line. Did you get your ass kicked again?
larrygator Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 ^nope, once I saw that there was a line I went elsewhere.
larrygator Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 Yea seriously. Why whould you ride S:UF instead of El Toro or KK???? What are you referring to? Nobody said to ride S:UF instead of El Toro or KK. I propose more reading comprehension tests. However, it might be an option when both ET and KK are not running
Xxhershey818xX Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 1) WEll One day is enogh if u have a Q bot other wise plan to go early and stay late!!! 2) I always liked going tuesday but it really dpends on If your getting a qbot or Not??? 3) Toatlly get the Q bot i say and go for the gold you get on faster and more times in one day if you have that kind of money but if u dont still try to get the q bot 4) Thrill Rides not really i mean if u count 1 spin on a huss top spin thrilling then No 5) Go karts suck its a total rip off dont do it 6) Almost any seat on each coaster personally i like the out side seat in the back on every coaster in the park there usually the most fun and the smalles t wait 7) Just go in a giant cirle!!! it usually works well u can get around a couple of times!!!
IwantRevenge Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 LIsten everybody agrees to this. Do KingDa Ka before El Toro, because by 11:00 the KK lines are 3 hours and the ET lines are about 1.5hrs. You decide though.
Hercules Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 Really? I've been to the park and Kingda Ka's line has been 15 minutes while El Toro's is 2 hours.
Nitro1118 Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 At GADV it is V-E-R-Y easy to hit every major ride outside of KK and S:UF by 12:30pm without getting a flashpass. Basically get to park, if you see Toro testing beforehand, run to that. If not, go to Movietown first. Let's say Toro is running, run to that first (go past teacups and through arcade, don't go to boardwalk then through GK). Get a rid eon that, and while RT is still empty, hit that. Go across bridge, hit Medusa and RMT quickly as there will be no lines yet. Go across park via Lakefront and hit Skull Mountain on way to Nitro. Nitro will probably have a 10-20min wait tops, so right now is a great time to hit it. After Nitro get on B:TR which won't be past 20min. If Toro was open by 10:15, you will have ridden 7 of the 10 major coasters by 11:30. Now head to boardwalk, get a ride on GASM as ther eis never a line. If S:UF's line isn't bad (first switchbacks) get on that right now. For KK and Toro, if you go on weekday, from 8-closing Toro will be a walkon, and the last half hour or so KK will only be 20min, so as long as you have the tolerance wait 'till night time to hit KK.

Hercules Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 It's a specially marked Coke can that has the Six Flags stuff on it. I guess you will just have to look around for them. And I'm not sure about the season pass thing. I would assume that they would need your receipt, so they will probably charge you the balance to get the season pass.
