SharkTums Posted August 28, 2006 Author Posted August 28, 2006 Another Update! I will be in Chat this Wednesday, August 30 at 6pm Pacific Time (9pm Eastern Time) to answer any trip questions you might have that I can answer at this time! Hope this helps!
Wes Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Hey, so how much is this going to cost? What's the deposit going to be? What parks are we going to? Can I do half the trip and only have to pay half? I'm 12, can I go without my parents (they think you're child molestors)? I don't have any money, can I not pay and come on the trip? I have a season pass to Cedar Point, can I meet up with you guys when you do ERT? PLEASE ANSWER MY QUESTIONS KTHX!!

methylene Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Mid-West and Spain trip flyers have been sent to the people who were on the email list. --Robb Just a quick question about the language in the midwest trip. If I read the section on deposits correctly, there isn't a first-come, first-serve approach this time around, right? It appears that all you have to do is get your deposit in before 9/28/06 to make the lottery. Matt It's not really said, but implied that if we don't get too many it will be first come first serve. But yeah, what you said! --Robb Well I ran it by the wifey and the deposit for two on the midwest has been sent to you through this magical system of tubes! Thanks! Matt
Golfie Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Why, oh WHY does my dad have so many meetings today???
coaster05 Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 For the couple people who are worried about when their money is in, getting cracking, dad at meetings, etc. If they fill up it will go to a lottery system so as long as you beat the deadline you are equal. Not exactly rocket science. Some of you should pray that there is not a comprehension test for a spot on the bus. On a side note I have to say I am very surprised at how many people are jumping on the midwest. I guess since I am from that area I never realized how many people hadn't visited there. For me I am all about the Alvey's taking me to far away lands. BTW guys huge props for the sightseeing days figured into Spain. That is awesome.
Wes Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Well I mailed off the check for Midwest this morning. I'm pretty excited because I've never hit any of the parks that are on the trip. Plus I get to ride an Aquatrax.
robbalvey Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Some of you should pray that there is not a comprehension test for a spot on the bus. What an AWESOME idea! We were thinking about some sort of "test", especially for anyone under 18 before the they were allowed to go! BTW guys huge props for the sightseeing days figured into Spain. That is awesome. Well, it's more like sightseeing "time" as every day is still pretty much a 'park day' but we do have some afternoons and evenings in there to hop a train/bus/cab/etc into town and check things out. --Robb
coaster05 Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Either way Robb is still great. If I actually had to come up with a complaint about UK that would be it. I would be ok with a "culture credit" day somewhere. That being said the way Melanie and I did it last time was also awesome. No matter what, you guys rule and thats all that really counts.[/u]
mcjaco Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Well I mailed off the check for Midwest this morning. I'm pretty excited because I've never hit any of the parks that are on the trip. Plus I get to ride an Aquatrax. Sadly Wes, neither have I....that's why I'm signing up. If we're both on the trip, and you still have that , you're not allowed to be anywhere near me.

Not exactly rocket science. It's more so just the comfort knowing that I have the deposit in... not so much that it will secure a spot.
Wes Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 If we're both on the trip, and you still have that , you're not allowed to be anywhere near me. I always have the , but it's of no danger to you.
mcjaco Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 ^ OK. I think my wife ok'ing this is more of a problem than anything else.....
havenli Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 I sent my Mid-West deposit in early this morning (I love PayPal), but I guess I still gotta cross my fingers, should we all end up in a lottery. I suck at lotteries. But hopes are up and I'm very excited about the prospect of this trip! Goll, I don't know how I'm going to wait a month to find out if I'm in or not. Oh, the suspense!
Twister II Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 I'll be getting my deposit in before Thursday. Question: My mom would be going, that would mean I would have to put in a $400 deposit for her and me together, right?
abc2001 Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Haven't applied for the spain trip, because I've been to most of those places before, including the cities. But if you haven't been before, your'll have a great time. I'll go to PA sometime next year think anyway. Thinking about the midwest trip. Flights from LHR-ORD are extremley expensive though, I suppose would have to fly LHR-JFK and drive or something. I would want to add at least SFGAV and BGW/PKD to the trip, either before or after. I would want at least 2-3 days at CP too. Might be a lot for people who have been before, but for me this would be a one off trip, so if the ques were long or something, I would want to go on most rides - it's not like I can go back easily. SFKK dosn't interest me that much but it don't put me off the tour.
SharkTums Posted August 29, 2006 Author Posted August 29, 2006 LHR - CVG is looking to be about $800 nonstop. So I'm not quite sure what you're looking for but that's pretty decent. I'm sure if you watched the flights you'd be able to find an even better rate. As for CP we will most likely be spending 2 full days there.
abc2001 Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Haven't tried CVG yet, i'll look into it, thanks. LHR-JFK can be as cheap as £270 ($520), but LHR-ORD is typically more like £470 ($900). LHR-YYZ can be cheap too I think, probably $550-ish. I haven't tried from LGW but I don't think it'll be much cheaper than LHR. Other locations are typically £375 ($750) like Dulles, but thats too far away really. Could be an option if I decide to go to BGW first though........
SharkTums Posted August 29, 2006 Author Posted August 29, 2006 Twister, Yes the deposit for both of you would be $400 if paid by check and $410 if paid via paypal.
roasted_marshmallow Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Two questions: Would you guys take an interac email money transfer, or just paypal? If I don't get on the MidWest trip, can I have the deposit go for Spain instead, if it isn't full?
SharkTums Posted August 29, 2006 Author Posted August 29, 2006 ^Paypal Only & Yes, but please specify that you want 2nd Choice Spain when you send in your deposit.
methylene Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Twister, Yes the deposit for both of you would be $400 if paid by check and $410 if paid via paypal. You may want to alter the flyer to read this- It is written as "$5 non-refundable service fee per transaction", not per deposit. As I only made one transaction I sent $405. I'll gladly send you the missing $5 if the case warrants. Matt
