In order from the best Paramount Park, to the worst Paramount Park, what is your opinion?

Heres what I think...

1. Kings Dominion (best)

2. Canada's Wonderland

3. Kings Island

4. Carowinds

5. Great America (worst)

I have only visited PGA and that was in 2001.

In 2001 they still had Stealth and Greezed Lightnin', which were 2 of the greatest coasters they had.

In 2001 it was a great park, but right now.............................I don't think it's the worst Paramount park, but i think it still will be 5th on the list.

1. Carowinds

2. King's Island

3. King's Dominion

4. Great America

5. Canada's Wonderland

I've only been to Wonderland... This rating system is based on the rides and what I've seen from pictures and heard from people.

I don't totally hate Wonderland, but the Roller Coasters are not the best... Compared to other major players in the industry.

I will admitt it has great Flatrides, but I wish psyclone was a HUSS Giant Frisbee and I wish they would get a S&S swing(like Skyhawk)

The waterpark could use a facelift... and everything else.

I also think an S&S Sky Swat would be a cool thing to add to the line-up.

^PCW problay has the best flat rides out there. I just chose PKD because it's my homepark and the only Paramount Park i've been to. I think PKD and PCW are the only 2 Paramount Parks left to get Boomerang Bay-ed... But I don't want a waterpark update just yet... What PKD needs right now is a B&M coaster.

Parkwise I'd go:

1. Carowinds

2. Canada's Wonderland

3. Kings Dominion

4. Kings Island

Coasterwise I'd go:

1. Kings Dominion

2. Carowinds

3. Kings Island

4. Canada's Wonderland

I haven't been to PGA yet, thats on the agenda for next year. Figure soon enough they'll take another 2 coasters out of there for no real reason.

PCW already has splashworks. So they already have a large water park.

I've only been to PKI and PCW. But I'd but Canadas Wonderland far in front of PKI.

What kills it for PKI is that I found nearly all of their roller coasters so rough that they weren't re-rideable in the least. I found Vortex,Beast,SoB to be some of the most painful rides I've ever been on.

^ Wow that's pretty much my listing EXACTLY!

Overall

PKD

Carowinds

Canada's Wonderland (Pretty much for the waterpark and top spin!)

PGA

PKI

Although it's funny, the bottom three could easily interchange at any time.

Canda's Wonderland probably has the worst coaster selection of almost ANY park, PKI has never impressed me, and PGA, while I actually do like the park, there really just isn't anything there that excites me that much, other than Top Gun.

So it's more like "PKD, Carowinds...and then three pretty mediocre parks!"

mmmm

It is hard for me to choose between PKI and PKD as top of the chain

PKD

PKI

Canada's Wonderland (why does this park get no love......monopoly?)

Carowinds (not a bad park at all)

Great America

I used to think PKI was better than PKD (90s) but I really think PKD is the better park now.

I will break down my opinion of the similar rides

Intamin freefall- PKD

Top Spin- PKD

Eiffel Tower- PKD (looks better)

Arrow Looper - easily PKI

racing woodie- PKD

King Kobra WAS better than Shockwave

Adventure Express is better than Avalanche IMO

Junior woodie- PKD

IJ/FOF-clones

Beast/Son of Beast/Top Gun/Face-Off

VS.

Grizzly/Hurler/Volcano/Hypersonic

PKD wins by a very small margin in those group of coasters even though I love Beast & Top Gun

PKI used to be much better

JEFF

(plus PKDs Fountains are better too

)

mmmmCanada's Wonderland (why does this park get no love......monopoly?)

Pretty much. It is right next to a population base of over 5 million with the only competition being Marineland and Darien Lake. (so no compeition).

The park has the highest attendance for all seasonal parks. They get millions of people every year wether they build a record breaking coaster or get nothing.

Which is why it's a very well run park with an average coaster collection at best.

PCW is a terrible coaster park. the only good coaster it has is vortex...

they keep adding kiddie crap and other terrible coasters like the tomb-raider coaster and the italian job thing. if they add a nice big B&M floorless or something, then it would be a great park.

They're not going to add something they don't need, especially something as expensive as a B&M coaster. In 2005, PCW beat out every single seasonal park in North America for attendance, including SFGAdv (B&M City). A B&M would be nice, but they seem to be able to get away with the Arrow/Vekoma/Togo/Zamperla-ish line-up just fine.

It's a business not roller coaster tycoon.

They're not going to be "nice" and drop $20 million on a ride that the park doesn't really need.

The park will get a major roller coaster when Cedar Fair feels the park needs it. If they don't think the park needs it, then it will never come.

^ If you're asking about Candas Wonderland, there's plenty of room behind Italian job and kingswood. There's also room along the 400 behind Minebuster.

Plus they could always move/replace existing rides.

There's no shortage of space.

SFMM is like Cedar Point. They are in an area with alot of major parks, which means alot of competition.

So a park like SFMM does have to keep building rides to have something to offer over and above what their neighbour has.

So yes SFMM needs all it's coasters.

Canadas Wonderland is the oposite. They have nothing within hundreds of miles. So they have no competition. The people in Toronto have nowhere else to go than to Wonderland. so it doesn't matter that the park hasn't built any world class roller coasters.

Not to mention that the average park guest that goes to Canadas Wonderland wouldn't even know the first thing about the better roller coasters in the US.

Carowinds is an ok park, not the best but somewhere I don't mind visiting once a year.

Kings Dominion was pretty mediocre as far as the park itself goes in my mind, but they really did have 3-5 "good" coasters (nothing great though )

Canada's Wonderland is an absolute dump!!

I could care less about Great America, and Kings Island intrigues me just a bit though I'm not expecting too much based on other Paramount experiences.

I love how the same debate arises about Canada's Wonderland every time it is brought up. PCW is a nice park with crappy rides, but lots of them!

I've only been to PCW and PKD, and I was only at PKD for three hours in like 1997, so I'll refrain from stating my opinion. hehe.

Of the three I've been to:

1 - PCW

2 - PKD

3 - PKI

On the visual scale. PCW is generally a nice park, although recently it's become more of a corporate dump with a lot less charm than it used to have. I think PKI as basically a gigantic county fair with little charm or theming. Basically you walk along a cement path and into the queue. Nothing nice plants/tree wise to catch your eye. PKD was nice enough, although it's the vaguest in my memory since I've only been twice [1998 and 2005].

Coasters-wise:

1 PKD

2 PKI

3 PCW

PCW has a large selection of mediocre at best coasters. Vortex is top notch, however everything else is of much lower quality. The one ride that I really loved [Wild Beast] got horribly tamed this year and has lost a lot of the fun that I once had while riding it. All of their other coasters had been tamed long ago, or were tame to begin with. Except Italian Job. That's just a fun ride.

I also don't quite understand the infatuation with the park's flat rides. We go there seven or eight times a year [since it's like, a five minute drive from my house], and rarely do we go on any flats outside of Shockwave, Psyclone, Sol Loco and ... actually that may be it. Nightmares is decent enough, the Jump2 is meh, I don't like the program on the Top Spin, and the rest is usual amusement park fodder.

So yeah, I used to get all defensive when peeps hated on my home park, but I keep enjoying it less and less so I may have to jump on the bandwagon soon.

ps. PKD's coaster selection is okay but lacking a good woodie, and I only like three coasters at PKI: Adventure Express, Outer Limits and Top Gun.

Uhh Grizzly?.. its not like Thunderhead or even Cornball Express good, but its probably best in the chain. And at night its everything the Beast SHOULD be, but of course isn't since the Beast sucks.

Ok anyway, I've only been to Carowinds, PKD, and PKI..

1. Carowinds (All the fanboys say HAAAAY, no really, Top Gun and the Flyers ALONE make this the best park)

2. Kings Dominion (It's Kings Island except with good rides and service)

3. Canadas Wonderland (This park intriques me, hope I can visit soon..)

4. Great America (Looks like they have some decent rides..)

5. Kings Island (Eww)
