PURE
^Having a flat in both the Eagles Flight and Dragon stations is a great idea. There's plenty of room, the line pathways are already there. It would be great if they got new trains for the Metro. It'd be bad ass to ride that thing around the park again.
KDCOASTERFAN
^Yeah, well we all know that Six Flags hates Flat Rides! That brings SFMM's flat ride count down to like 4! Blame that on a former management that was more interested in competing with a certain Ohio park for their coaster count than anything else.I wouldn't be suprised if the Vu ends up on the chopping block too as Shapiro seems to have zero tolerance for rides with significant downtime. vedved82491
So who else has heard about that deal Six Flags has with a painting company? Apparently the company will be the painter of all Six Flags parks while Six Flags advertises them throughout the park in numerous ways. X2 is getting it's new paint...(it better be red/black, none of the that blue/green nonsense) Viper is apparently closed for the rest of the year for painting. It's also got some of its lights fixed finally.

Jew
http://travel.latimes.com/daily-deal-blog/?p=1002 Removal of Granny Gran Prix pretty much confirms the Thomas Town location. Other thoughts: -With Spin Out removed, there will be a nice chunk of free space in that corner there if they also remove the Dragon Station. -Sierra Twist and Circus Wheel locations seem like future food and retail locations, given their small footprints. -Can't do much with Freefall's space. Possibly a new drop tower if they redesign the area to accomodate a bigger Q.
vedved82491
Wow, that leaves the flat count to what? Two? I mean besides the kiddie rides, Swashbuckler and Buccaneer are the only "family" flats left. This "future expansion" better be good. It's so odd, It's been 4 months since the last time I've been to Magic Mountain and so much has been announced, declared, and changed.
socalMAN123
Well, my dad and I were just talking and he says that a visit to Magic Mountain is in order to go say goodbye to Freefall. Man, I love that ride, I'm dissappointed that they are taking it out. Don't really care about the other rides they are taking out, but I just hope they make up for it in flat rides eventually. Also Jahan, is there another update in order now that we are starting to enter the fall/winter phase? ---Brent
arrowfanman
^ I have two full updates worth of photos over the past two months. I just havn't been able to find the time to actually compose the update! I do hope to get one up before the end of the year to summarize the year as a whole and look to future changes. Should be a super-sized update, if I get to it. LOL. -Jahan

lapseofreason
I hate asking GP questions like this, but has anyone ever been to SFMM on Thanksgiving, and if so, was it crowded? Tomorrow is pretty much my last chance to get on X before they change it, so I'm hoping the park won't be too jammed.
AllenA07
I've worked there before on Thanksgiving, and can tell you that the park is empty for the most part. I worked on the shows so I didn't see how lines for rides were, but on a show where we normally had 150+ people, we had well under 50. It's a pretty good day to go to avoid lines. Superbowl Sunday is another day when the park is pretty empty.

PURE
Main gate psa? Is that the guy that makes the announcements over the loudspeakers in the park? I'm going on Friday to say goodbye to X for the winter. I'm hoping the crowds are mild on that day as well seeing as how its the day after Thanksgiving and hopefully everyones out shopping for the huge "day after Thanksgiving" sales. *crosses fingers*
sfmmrules!
Will Viper be open end of June? I sure hope it won't be closed then due to repainting still. Thats when I'm going & I really want to ride one of my favorites. Last time I rode it was summer 2005. I can't wait until 2008 to ride it. Thats too far away especially since its one of the best! PURE
^Almost a guarantee yes. Painting the rides doesn't take too long. Unless they undergo a minor re-hab of the ride (a lot of the brakes (over half) needed to be replaced last time I checked) which is possible, the ride shouldn't be down for more than a couple weeks. AllenA07
I couldn't imagin Viper being closed more then a couple of weeks... This is SFMM however, so Viper will be down until sometime around 2009.
sfmmrules!
Oh no. Well hopefully their schedule will change & Viper will be open when I'll be going. What about Superman - will it be open end of June? Last summer I missed riding it because it broke down just when I was about to go on it! I'm still mad! I can't miss Superman either! AllenA07
^It is seriously impossible to predict what is going to be open and closed come June. Just wait until the trip is closer, and then try to figure out what will be running. With that said, I bet it's a safe bet Flashback is closed. Zozey
I've gone there, and that's a really nicely sized piece o' land! I saw it from the top of Deja Vu (man, that was a rough ride) and that IS really big! ROFLMAO! ZOZEY

If "over half" the brakes needed to be replaced, the ride legally should not be open. So I hope you have some sort of proof to back up such a strong accusation. What about Superman - will it be open end of June? Last summer I missed riding it because it broke down just when I was about to go on it! I'm still mad! I can't miss Superman either! ?Are you assuming all the coasters are closed or something? They're all by default scheduled to be operating with the exception of X who is reopening in the Spring, which, if all goes well, means between March and June, and Viper is merely getting a paint job, and maybe a rehab, and it's scheduled to reopene before the end of the year... Superman as far as I know is usually operating unless it's having a bad day, and you will only see one side ever running at once. I'm not sure when they stop cycling Colossus backwards after frightfest but I'm guessing it's over, so expect only the forward side open.
PURE
^^Brakes still work even though they should be replaced. They wear down slow enough that they can go weeks or even months before the brass falls off. And secondly, how would you know the requirements to legally open a ride or not? Maybe you, too, should provide us with some sort of proof as to how you've been informed of such a strong "coaster legality" accusation.
AllenA07
So what does a procrasting law student do when somebody asks for how the rides are inspected? They go and look up the state statute! First it's farily long, and I didn't take the jump over to the OSHA page to see more specifics, however if you're curious search around for Cal Labor Code § 7924. That's the offical code of what kind of inspection requirments there are.
Xtreme-me
Visited the park this morning and had an awesome time. We hit all the coasters except: 1) Superman: Why? its officially a waste of space... 2) Viper 3) Revolution: Do you need an excuse? heres one: Headache Waits were no more than 45 minutes (Tatsu @ the Very beginning of the day) and the shortest was Batman which was a walk on. X was a walk into the station and the ride was buttery smooth as far as normal movement goes. Rotations were still a little jerky but its always been that way so it was really fun! (30 minute wait for the front row w/ 1 train operation) Some things I noticed throughout the day were: 1) NO TRASH! I didnt see it anywhere! normally you can find it all over the place, in a gutter, in the ques etc. but there was none! 2) Viper's getting painted and it looks awesome 3) Staff is much friendlier and spend time to help you out when you ask for it 4) problem with trains or understanding about how many can be run (We went to Goliath in the afternoon around three and waited around 35 minutes for the back row of the train w/ one train operation. We went back at 5:30 and there were two trains on the track with virtually no wait except for the front. There was the same amount of workers the whole time) (Scream had one train op the entire day with a huge line most of the time when they had 5 workers in the station. We hit it when it was down at about 30 minutes) 5) SLOW SLOW SLOW (like... snail pace...) dispatches. If your going the day after thanksgiving... MAKE SURE YOU GO THERE FIRST! Thats about it... I forgot my camera today so there arent any pics... sorry!
