P. 2239: Superman: Escape from Krypton permanently closed

Recommended Posts

All you can see is the back of the statue. It looks like it's a man and a woman. It's strange but I think you can see the man's butt cheeks. I'm not sure where this is going - Superman or Green Lantern.

Is it possible they removed this statue during the Green Lantern clearing process:

Yes I think that looks like the statue I spoke of earlier. If you've got a picture of it from the back look at it. If not look to the left as you go up the lift hill on Pocky. What is that a statue of???

I see the prices are posted for WCB. The Mountain must really be putting it to Robb this year! $53. without a shirt. I guess 6 Flags is really trying to cash in on this one. All I can say is Coastermania at Cedar Point has always been free if you have a season pass. They haven't posted pricing yet for 2011 only the dates. I still love the Mountain, but they're starting rape us enthusiasts.

I actually approached the park about this too. The response was:

We realize the Season Pass price will be a question, but the reality of the matter is the value on the day far exceeds the $53 ticket price. Your members can expect some surprises that will appear throughout the day. We are working on surprise opportunities and we have a history of delivering.

They are confident that if you pony up the cash, they will deliver a top notch event!

Okay Robb, if you notice I didn't blame you. I'm just disappointed that the normal WCB shirt is $10 more on top of the $53. $63. for a day at the park is getting expensive!

If Jay Thomas was still there and in charge, I'd believe that statement. With this new regime in place, I'm skeptical.

Well, that is why I made the shirt an option this year. Since the price from the park came in higher than last year, to keep the cost of the actual event down, I separated out the shirt cost.

If it makes you feel any better, the person I'm working with on the event is Neal Thurman, who was Jay's partner in crime.

The prices this year are a bit on the steep side, but I can attest to the fact that the ERT alone is the best any park has ever delivered. Throw in possibly having the re-tooled Superman all to ourselves without the major spring break crowds, and what ever other goodies thown in, I won't miss this year, no way.

I'm getting a laugh out of "how expensive the day is" because going to a concert can cost a lot more, as can other kinds of events. For what you're getting, it's one hell of a bargain. I have a Six Flags season pass and I'd still pay it and not expect a discount. If it weren't for a family wedding, I'd be there in an instant. Still might make it to Knott's, though.

^ Agreed. Besides, I haven't decided if I'm going to buy a season pass this year or not, so this is very much in line with what I would expect to pay anyway. Plus, getting there early, I don't have to pay for parking.

It's a non issue for me. Still trying to decide on Knotts though.

Remember too they always put on a great event in my opinion. I mean Robb and Neal give a lot of effort and planning to put it together and it always seems to turn out great. What surprises may you expect? Why a random hail storm might pelt you in the head while on a tour. It may be pricey but it's always a FANTASTIC event with once in a lifetime opportunities most of the time.

I've looked at prices on the SFMM website and I think it is quite easy to justify the $53 ticket price when you figure what all it includes.

Parking-$15

Admission (to save money, we'll say you buy a ticket online)-$35

Meals (estimate for two meals in the park)-$26

ERT (since you can't buy ERT, substitute a regular Flash Pass)-$41

Photo (conservatively)-$10

Total-$127

Keep in mind there are other things included (such as the Q&A session) that are difficult to put a price on. I know this is just a rough estimate, but it certainly makes $53 look like a really good value.

Even though I'm planning on getting a season pass this year, I'd still attend the event regardless of the price (well, as long as it wasn't over $100 or so).

I have faith in Neal - I'm certain the park will deliver crazy-good value for the event ante. Bet on it!

And, there's an excellent chance that we'll get to break in backwards Superman. Of course any time a ride is (re)opening, delays are a possibility. Even without it, I know it WCB will be epic.

Great day in the park today. We were first in line at the gate and easily made the rounds of all our favorites. We would have made it a clean coaster sweep if Superman's thundering charge hadn't stopped us in our tracks. Colossus was the only one down. We skipped Scream (the line was 50 ft down the stairs) and Ninja. Hi-Ya! Go figure, at 1:30 it had a full queue.

Yep, the old Gotham salute to the family statue now proudly stands butt-first toward Apocalypse. It looks oddly erotic sitting in the scrap yard that way.

Wow, people actually go for the coasters? I just go for the T-Shirts! $10 for a TPR shirt is the best deal of the event! Can't wait to go, it really is the best theme park deal in the world. Thanks for everything Robb!

Right now I only have enough money for the T-Shirt itself, hopefully I'm able to buy my tickets before the event is sold out! However, if I begged my parents to dip into my college funds I might be able to get my tickets now!

Being able to break in Superman would be well worth the $53 admission price. Heck you can't get a gold flash pass for that price. While I've attended less expensive park events, I've also gotten at lot less at some of them. I will happily pay the $63 (Gotta have a shirt!) and eat the provided meals, grab a photo, a few tours, and whatever else they pitch our way with a gigantic smile on my face! I will be in a bitch free zone.

**Edit: Speaking of flash passes, I knew you could add X2 onto the pass for $15, but I thought at any level. Their website says you can only add it on only with a Gold or Platinum pass. That would $84 on a Gold minus $$ off for season pass. Wowsers! Has it always been that way? My mind isn't as sharp as it used to be.
