The Six Flags Magic Mountain (SFMM) Discussion Thread

Last time I went in Goliath a couple weeks ago it actually just slowed down on the mid course brakes instead of fully stopping. I remember it used to always run like that a few years ago. Does anyone know which way is the correct way now? (Fully stopping or just slowing down?)
The correct way is slowing down.

That's what I thought. For the last couple years though 95% of the time it fully stops on the mid course brakes though. I wish they could come up with a long term solution for that.

If you ride it multiple times, you will notice that one of the trains will be more likely to stop and the other will glide through as it is suppose to. You can tell because one of the trains comes into the station much sooner after the second is dispatched then the other way around. It is always dealing with the mid course break run.

Although it is kind of fun watching people freak out and think that the ride is broken when it comes to a full stop.

This is a bit of a long-shot, but would anyone let me pay them to buy and ship a Twisted Collossus shirt to the UK?

When I visited earlier this month, they only had it in size XXL. I need a Medium.

Send me a message if you can help - the Six Flags store team weren't very helpful when I asked...

Check to see if the one you want is available on eBay US https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=twisted+colossus&_sacat=0&LH_TitleDesc=0&_odkw=twisted+colossus&_osacat=0

Not say i can do it, but can you narrow it down with a picture of the shirt your looking for?

I found the location of the fireworks mortars. They're behind the big loop on Yolo coaster. They're on the cement back there. That's a strange location for them in my opinion. The fireworks according to my email from the park will start at 9:15. The park closes at 9, and YOLO always has a line. Not sure how's that going to work.

Finally they got Goliath working this afternoon. It didn't open until around 2:30 which was killing me. It ran good after that time, and I got 15 rides.

15 rides on Goliath???? You must take some advil for the helix headaches...

No problem - I love it. Definitely my fav. I can easily ride it twice that amount and have in the past.

I’m actually the reason Lex Luthor is down. I accidentally elbowed the metal sidebar at the end of the gondala, and it popped off. Not kidding.

Nice job for not letting me ride Lex this visit. I wish you knocked off the VR!

A recent video came out in France featuring Mack Rides and during the tour of the plant it is revealed that they are working on a project for the US in California for 2019 and the only logical place for it in 2019 is SFMM. I'm hoping it is a hyper like DC Rivals but the popular rumor is a more insane version of Time Traveler.

That would make sense, but I think it’s more likely to go to CGA, where there is already a permit in place for a 210 foot tall steel rollercoaster. Between that and the fact that Carowinds is getting a Mack, I’d be incredibly surprised if it doesn’t go up north.

CGA is rumored to get their new ride in 2020 not 2019. Also the rumor is B&M for CGA. Knott's is also potentially in the market for a Hyper but both Kontt's and CGA just got new coasters this year. SFMM has not had a new coaster in a few years. It makes more sense that it is SFMM to be honest.

It's not, I already tried

Found it on a site called "eCrater" but the seller doesn't respond, and shipping is £60 to the UK!!

^ Shoot, I was just at the park last night. I can probably make it over there again within the next week or two, though. I'll ship you a shirt, if you'd like. Just PM me with the info (where to send it, what size you want).

On a side note, I'm not sure what's up with the ops on Scream lately. Last night was a station wait, but they were running 4-5 minute dispatches on almost every train, so it took almost a 1/2 hour to get on. The ride attendants spent a lot of time standing around the operator's booth and talking, and the woman at the panel was zoned out half the time. I had seen the crew dispatching trains much more quickly earlier in the day, though.

Hopefully they're taking off the VR and giving us our single rider line back!

Hoping this is the case as well. If they really have to use VR on a ride, stick it on Green Lantern.

God no. I get that you want to just stick it on a ride that you don't care about, but pick any other coaster than that one..that is a ride that you really need to see what's going on around you. That's like when SFDK put VR on their SLC Kong. That ride was already super painful, not being able to see and brace yourself just made it worse.

I just want this VR fad to end, it increases load times and I have yet to see a coaster that it changed for the better.

I'll admit I'm biased because when I'm in the parks I wear single focal length contacts so VR headsets put the screen just far enough away from my face to make the entire thing blurry as hell.

I couldn't agree more, this whole VR on rides trend is stupid and needs to stop. It just creates long lines due to the ridiculous load times and doesn't add anything to the ride experience.

And frankly it doesn't work all of the time especially in the warm weather. I didn't like it when I tried it once on Revolution at SFMM.

The park needs to start cracking down on ride ops that do this. Maybe if enough people complain they will do something about it!

Yeah I used to see them "stacking 1 train" on gold rusher for the same reason. They just start talking and get distracted and don't notice the train is waiting on the brake run to be dispatched into the station.

Yeah because it is so hard to step on the relase break to push up or down the lap bar on goldrusher. I wish more ride operations approached it like the Gate Keeper team at Cedar Point. They operated like it was like a NASCAR race and they were the pit crew. Sometimes you get that at Twisted Colossus at SFMM if you get the right crew.
