VTown661 Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 That looks pretty close. Is this the closest a fire has come to SFMM? Every few years, the fireworks they shoot from behind X2/Viper manage to cause small brush fires. It was a running joke among employees. SFMM hasn't had fireworks for years and years since those exact house's and WRH (school) were built & that fire was in direct line of fire today. Only fireworks type display now are in the plaza or Falls area during summer around 8-9pm and those don't even launch perhaps more than 30 feet and all below Tatsu coaster line so its mostly a ground show. Apocalypse has sprinkler system and I'm sure it was ready to be used if needed.
rcdude Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 Questions about the Flash Pass! I'm going to be going to the park on June 15th and was considering getting the Platinum Flash Pass. Is it worth getting? It's $89 per person on that day. It says it reduces the wait time by 90%, how long is that exactly? So if Tatsu had a 2 hour wait, it would be a 20 or so minute wait? And one last question, anyone know how much the upgrade for X2 is? Thanks in advance! I've never used Platinum, but when I've used Gold at other parks it was definitely good enough. Most of the time, it would be time to ride by the time I got to the attraction I had reserved (provided I made the reservation as soon as I redeemed the previous one). I also don't agree with the way Six Flags does double rides for Platinum users, so I would never get one. If I were you, I'd save money by getting Gold and use single rider on Lex Luthor (or ride within the first hour of opening). X2 is a $15 upcharge per person, per ride, so I'd just go ride this first thing in the morning, then get the Flash Pass, then head to Lex Luthor and go from there.
singemfrc Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 ^ And on all but the busiest days you can definitely get on X2 without much wait. Either hit it very first thing, or wait until about 4 or 4:30 in the afternoon when the line almost always dies down to about 10 minutes or less.
boardwalkbullet91507 Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 My biggest tip with the platinum, when they clear your flash pass reservation at the queue, Immediately schedule your next reservation before you even get on the ride. That's 5 - 10 minutes 'waited' depending on the flash pass entrance, and then the remainder of the wait time is spent getting to the next attraction. Your wait time even on the busiest days will be practically zero. I've used the platinum flash pass twice (and not considering cost as I've never PAID for one), they are great.

Jerome Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 I was on Apocalypse when the fire was going. It was on the side of the hill next it the ride. So they held us at the final breaks before the station as they cleared the station and closed the ride. I checked later in the day and the ride was closed all day. The park was very busy as they had 75 buses (yes I counted them as I rode Colossus). Most of the buses were from schools. Mostly high school seniors and the rest 8th graders. It was busier then a lot of summer days because of busing in so many students. So I will not be going back until schools are out.
GayCoasterGuy Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 yes I counted them as I rode Colossus This is funny, nerdy and cool all wrapped into one I miss Colossus!
Sir Clinksalot Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 ^^^ I do that no matter what FlashPass I have. When they scan it at the FlashPass entry you can reserve another ride. The only time it doesn't work is when they put you on a train/boat/whatever as soon as you reach the station. But even then you are only waiting 1-2 minutes for the rides. From what I remember from the last time I used the FP at SFGAm a couple of years ago you can also queue up more than 1 ride so that as soon as the first ride is scanned it immediately starts queuing the next ride.

So I will not be going back until schools are out.The problem with that plan is that there are many more busy days when schools are out than there are when schools are in. Days like you experienced suck, but are much less frequent. Your odds are much better when school is in. VTown661 Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 The park was very busy as they had 75 buses (yes I counted them as I rode Colossus). . Easy to count the buses that have stayed . About 25 per row. Hasn't changed in years. So at quick glance 3 rows of buses 75. However what your not seeing are the buses that dropped off and left and some-days that number exceeds the number of buses that stay. But easy enough just dbl your 75 and say 150 buses had showed up . Trust me its good info.
MylesG4L Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Going to MM this Friday, hopefully I get good pics of FT

The idea is that you queue up your next ride right after the park employee scans your FP, saving you possibly quite a bit of time as you can be waiting for some time after the FP scan point.
Tmcdllr Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Too bad FT won't be open in the next couple of weeks, that's when I'm going.
singemfrc Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 ^^ Right, the best way to do it is as soon as you check into the current ride you select your next one and it's ready when you exit, I thought he was saying you could preselect more than one ride and when you checked into one it would automatically reserve your next one for you
vwcr Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I have just found this which claims to get $26 off the ticket price but from what i can see its $1 cheaper than the standard price. Can anyone explain what im doing wrong? http://content.sixflags.com/coke/magicmountain/welcome/?isAd=1&parkid=0&utm_medium=banner_ad&utm_source=Facebook&utm_campaign=CK&utm_content=unknown&ref=http://www.facebook.com/SixFlagsMagicMountain?ref=ts&fref=ts
Top Thrill Dragster Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 ^You're not doing anything wrong. A one day ticket to SFMM at the gate is $64.99 and a regular 3-Day advance ticket is $39.99. So with the Coke 3-day advance deal, you are only saving $1 off of the online price but $26 off of "at the gate" price.

Does anyone know if friday 30th august will be a busy day or not?
Sir Clinksalot Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 ^ That's the start of Labor Day weekend. Some schools are actually in by then though so it might not be too bad. Certainly not as bad as that actual weekend.

MylesG4L Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 (edited) Went on GL today, with a total of 4 flips on the right wing. And btw FT's loop is so huge in person Edited June 1, 2013 by MylesG4L
SingleRiderCam Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Going to the park on Sunday, just wish me luck that FT is testing so I can take a video of it.
deadover Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Going to the park on Sunday, just wish me luck that FT is testing so I can take a video of it. Hello all. I went to the park today and I chatted with a worker over by the FT construction zone and asked about testing, and apparently they had tested FT earlier in the day (Friday may 31st). I was very sad to miss it! But when I was talking to the construction worker ( around 5 p.m) one of the trains on FT got launched, not that far though. Only about a quarter of the loop, and that was it for the rest of the day. The park was moderately crowded due to all the middle school students grad days, apocalypse and scream were still only running 1 train as said before.
RollerCoasterAwesome Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Full Throttle update May 31,2013 Loop and construction stuff New retail / food location freshly painted sort of... Dirt lot of nothing New trees More magical boxes of electrical stuff I see a train on the track Full train Full Throttle Both trains are on the track although ones sort of split apart and the old Log Jammer station/queue line building is fully sealed and will probobly be painted in some way, well hopefully I hope this train enjoys this section of track because i expect it to sit there for 4 months out of the year Odd color choices but as long as the pink wallls are painted i can live with it New concrete for the entrance to the new Full Throttle area One moment its here the next its gone sort of The train it magicly disappeared it was no 70 mph launch more like 5 mph (possibly slower) but hey you have to start somewhere right. The train went up about 10-20 feet into the loop and rolled back to the station. Final shot from above Looks better now that the chain link fence was painted black New framing being installed into the tunnel New framing Now that some minor testing is starting we can only hope that a full test will happen very soon also i heard an employee mention to another guest that the ride should open sometime in July but no specific date was mentioned apparently they're behind schedule, doesn't surprise me.
hydra Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 I'm sure the ride will be great but man it would have been awesome to see them use the entire lot of cleared land. Seems like a waste.
