P. 2239: Superman: Escape from Krypton permanently closed

Sorry if this has been answered, but is the station going to stay topless? I could see an X-Flight style metal roof, but won't it be super hot if they leave it open? I only ask because it looks like they put up railings around the station which makes me wonder how they would add a roof.

No, it's going to have a tent like thing over the top according to the concept art.

Glad that the first stages of testing has begun! I hope they keep focusing on testing instead of painting fences that have no bearing on getting the ride open!

Wow, sucks that this ride may be opening in July. I mean damn, Iron Rattler at Fiesta Texas has already opened and its bigger then YOLOcoaster. Wonder why they are behind?

It's SFMM. There's no reason, just expectation.

I ask this question without knowing the true answer: Would SFMM go faster with the construction and opening of their rides if it would make them more money? I feel like they would. On the other hand, they don't have to have a rational explanation because they're SFMM, YOLO!

The only reason they are so far "behind" if thats what we're calling it, is that they made no effort to get it done in a timely manner, because they don't have to. As long as it opens sometime in "Summer of 2013" which gives them til the end of August, they are technically on time.

To answer why they choose to have such flex deadlines..... its SFMM.

Are we really taking an employes word that it wont open until July? Would they know/be told that from the "higer ups" or could that employee be basing it on his opinion?

From the looks of it, there's still plenty left to do that could last until July. Who knows what could happen during testing either.

You really don't know that for sure...for all you know there could have been a hiccup during installation that has delayed the project, which is information that would not be readily available to the public.

Of course that is always a possibility, but I have my doubts. And either way, no official opening date has been publicly set, so they don't have a reason to be in a hurry unless they desperately want it open as soon as possible, for whatever reason.

People please it will get done, enough of the SH@& talking. The ride will open in July, I have a friend who is working on this ride and he confirmed it to my family this past Saturday. The ride is ready to start full speed testing soon. I asked him if they will do night launches and he said most likely but right now they have been testing slow speed day launches. It's the landscaping, walk way and the whole Full Throttle area that needs to be complete, So please be PATIENT! You'll be screaming Yolo in a month!

^^So the park doesn't deserve to be criticized for having their brand new ride on track to open halfway through the summer season (if those rumors are true)? I don't know if that is poor planning or budget constraints (or both), but they most definitely deserve the "sh*t talking."

I understand the frustration and yes it is poor planning on MM part. I honestly think MM bit more off than they can chew but hey that seems to be what it is. You have to realize that trying to revamp this are was hard, it being a water ride with a lot of terrain, the land needs to be secured and footers have to be deep enough since we live in earthquake land. It took time to get cranes in place then to move them ever so often for track placement. These people are only here to built the product and safety is number 1! I know Everyone has their own right and opinion to talk shit, It just bothers me when I read all of the negative comments. I have a place in my heart for MM since I was employed from 1992-1997 and my uncle who retired from the maintenance department after 34 years of service. So if you choose to accept it, I'm sorry and if you do not. Please take long walk off a short pier! See you at opening day for Yolo Fun!

I don't understand how having the land open for groundwork since the end of 2011 and not starting till late 2012 is biting off more than they could chew, I would understand if there was some sort of mishap involving track and train fabrication at Premier that cause the coaster to be delayed. It was also apparent that they could have started significant work on the infrastructure improvements earlier, as in before May, but didn't, in the same way that they could have been drilling footers in November instead of the middle of December.

Universal Orlando just built Transformers in a year. That's all the proof you need to know about what proper project management can do.

Magic Mountain deserves no praise for how this project has been handled so far. If you can't accept the fact they've botched the construction timetable (for whatever the reason may be), perhaps it is you who should take a walk off a short pier.
