Not For Sale
^You're going to get this thread closed. I'm surprised it wasn't already. What was an intelligent debate is now just childish due to posts like that.

darklingscribe
I'm coming in late to the thread and yes I did take the time to read it all the way through. Personally I'm against animal cruelty but I have no respect for PETA. I lost all the respect I had for the organization when they started comparing slaughterhouses to the holocaust. Â I don't know, it's 2am and I'm tired so I'll get straight to my point even though it might derail this thread. I just can't understand why people will spend so much energy trying to stop these things that seem to me as such small problems compaired to all the violence we commit against ourselves in the world. Â Show interest and do some reasearch into what's happening to people today rather than animals. I'm pretty sure that every horrible thing you can find being done to an animal on PETA's website, has recently been done to a person. The only difference is that in most cases today when a person is slaughtered by another human being their meat is not eaten and their skin is not worn. Â <> Â After looking over my last sentence I realise that somone could mistake it's meaning. To clarify, I was trying to make the point that when an animal is killed by the industry it is killed for a product. When a person kills a person or when a whole village is slaughtered it is done in anger, hate and for a perverse type of satisfaction. Â The Medical labs and slaughterhouses do not hate their animals, they just don't love them.
BeemerBoy
^ There's an organization for everything though. PETA just fills the role for the animals (well, along with GreenPeace). It's early, so I can't think straight, but I'm sure there's plenty of organizations fighting for human rights as well...most just don't get the same attention as PETA, because animals are cuter and more lovable. Â ^^ And dude, chill with the whole hippies thing. If you haven't noticed, nobody's really laughing.
Not For Sale
^PETA2 is aimed at high school/college kids. That's the only difference. Â Happy birthday, by the way.
Calaway Park
Ok, there are shortages of natural resources because of over-use. People over eat. The world's obesity problem is becoming larger and larger because of over-comsumption of food. If everybody becomes a vegan, our grand children's, grand children will be with a shortage of vegetables. They are renewable resources but people refuse to recycle. Un case you didn't notice, an omnivore eats meat AND plant food. A herbivour eats plants, and a carnivore eats meat. Â I'm sorry, but I've seen what my local "animal rights" gangs have done... and it's led me to beleive they do it for attention and attention alone. thomas2
OMG I can't believe the vid of the fur companies. I almost threw up. Those animals where just alive when there skin was stolen, and are even living afterwards . That so convinced me to protest against furs. Another fact that the human race is far from being perfect

Calaway Park
http://www.nokillnow.com/PETAPart1HorribleSecrets.htm Peta? Ethical? HAHAHA I'm going to go "volunteer" at PeTA and then let out all their dirty little secrets. ROT IN HELL PeTA! Bring your dog or cat to the SPCA not PeTA unless you want your animal harshly murdered. PeTA treats animals like TRASH! Literally! PeTA Threw 30 some cats and dogs in a strip mall garbage can! I REFUSE TO CONFORM TO A GROUP OF HIPOCRITES. I'm sorry if I offended anybody but look at the following links. I've researched the topic, and PeTA is trying to kill us! Really, to me at the moment it seems that PeTA needs to hear PEOPLE HAVE FEELINGS AND WRITES TOO!  Bombing a university research center and getting payed for it? What kind of mal-nourished brains to these people have?  http://www.petakillsanimals.com/ http://www.consumerfreedom.com/news_detail.cfm?headline=2833 http://www.canadafreepress.com/2005/tgr051005.htm http://www.peta-sucks.com/petakillsanimals.htm http://moonbatcentral.com/wordpress/?p=486 http://www.simply-simian.com/petakills.htm http://brianoconnor.typepad.com/animal_crackers/2004/04/peta_pig_cow_ch.html http://www.rajuabju.com/literature/peta.htm http://www.peoplekillinganimals.com/antipeta.htm http://brianoconnor.typepad.com/animal_crackers/2005/12/cnn_report_on_p.html http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=8077236832140835125&q=PeTA+Kills http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2B7DFeBoNM&search=PeTA%20Kills http://www.petakillsanimals.com/ads_detail.cfm?ad=14 http://www.petakillsanimals.com/ads_detail.cfm?ad=17 http://www.washingtontimes.com/commentary/20050722-085338-5284r.htm  I rest my case. Hercules
I can understand the point of posting them. I mean, I can post all of the PETA stuff that I possibly can but without another "source" for people to read, it would be a one sided discussion. Â All propaganda is legal in this discussion, not matter how out there it is or how much you do or don't want to believe it. Don't knock him for posting it, although he has knocked on me for posting other stuff. I don't want to make it personal.

Bonkers
I lay my case as resident "noob": Â I am a firm believer in animal rights, and I am a vegetarian. That being said, PETA has done nothing but annoy me to death and make it worse for me to talk to people about going "veggie". Personally, I think a cage match between the head of PETA and Ann Coulter would be quite funny to watch...I strongly dislike both of them. Â However, I still believe that it is rather cruel and disgusting to eat something that was walking around, had thoughts and emotions, and could've lived a better life. Why is it that we eat cattle, pork, and chicken, but seem appalled by the thought of Koreans eating dog? The fact that India as a whole doesn't eat cattle further reinforces this: you eat what you do not allow to bond to you. Â Mmmm, that is all. goleafsgo
people have eaten meat forever. but now, instead of going out and catching your cow for dinner, it is farmed for you... Â a cow on a farm lives just as happily as a wild cow would (if there are any wild cows...) it sits around eating grass all day, then one day it gets killed quickly without knowing whats going on. its really not that cruel...
