It just amazed me
kenshinmac replied to calcajun's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This is the problem with the US... Seriously... If a teen or adult is dumb enough to go into the path of a ride it is a terrible thing but why should a park have to put up fences everywhere to try to prevent idiots from hurting themselves. I'm freaking sick of everything being someone elses responsibility. I mean it doesn't even matter if they do put up fences and everything... Look what happened with Top Gun at PGA... Honestly I would feel worse for the people in the train who had to experience whatever happens. -
POV with a difference
kenshinmac replied to exmouse's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That whole setup is nuts... I can't believe they actually did that... A weather forecast from a coaster... Crazy... One thing does bother me though... Where are the other cars? I have this feeling they don't run the ride with one car. Did they pull all the others off for the event? -
"Design The Next TPR T-Shirt" Contest!!!
kenshinmac replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ok yeah I'm not really feeling the designs that are realistic yet... I just thought I would throw out an idea that I kinda had and let someone else run with it. Basically because well I have approximately negative talent when it comes to making any sort of designs on a computer. I dunno I kinda want something a little more strange... I kinda liked the idea of a warning sign with the whole crossing sign suggested earlier. Please don't laugh too much... I just kinda whipped it up in no time because I have no idea how to use 90% of the tools in those sort of programs. Just in case anyone is looking for some free programs http://www.inkscape.org/index.php is what I was using to play around with. Ok yeah I'm looking for even more abuse now... I realized that no one has put up a sideloop entry... So yeah it stinks something terrible but hopefully it will inspire someone with some talent... Don't laugh too hard... Someone with talent wanted... Please fix this wreck... -
The Heightz [Rct3]
kenshinmac replied to kennywood!007's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Fair enough... The only thing I would say about the park is throw some more foliage into some of those shots... It just seems a bit too bare in many areas. Throw some bushes into the lake beneath the mine train. Maybe a few floating barrels... Make sure that you have some sort of visual division between rides when you setup pictures. The shot of the log coaster with the merry go round just looks very very sparse. Some trees in between would break things up nicely. -

Just a little thing... The whole z instead of s thing is about as passe now as the whole x means x-treme thing... If I never see another z instead of an s it will be too soon... Oh and don't you think you are tooting your own horn a little much giving your own creation an impossible rating? 6/5... We don't even get to see the layout... -
Geez guys how is it copying Vekoma? It is a motorbike coaster which isn't exactly creative but it is a compact machine which is a huge benefit to a lot of parks. Heck Zamperla is helping to make a lot of variety in the compact machines that weren't there before. Now personally I like most of the ideas behind the Volare... I just wish the corners were a little less extreme and the rolls weren't there at all. The feeling as it tilts down rocks IMHO. It definitely feels better than the Vekoma Flyers and I can't comment on B&Ms as I just haven't got to them. I think the Zamperla Motorbike looks like a great addition for any park with only a small amount of realestate.

RCT for MAC?
kenshinmac replied to thefitness's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Honestly don't buy a laptop at all if you want to play games... Many many PC Laptops of the same price range have the same graphics capabilities. The Intel integrated graphics and many of the other low end cards have plenty of power for OS tasks and what most people do. RCT3 is quite demanding though... Also consider that with all Macs now you can boot windows if you buy a license... So to the poster above known as CoasterLover... A Mac now is a Windows machine if you want it to be... Heck the MacBook Pro runs windows better than comparable PC laptops... -
RCT for MAC?
kenshinmac replied to thefitness's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Only RCT3 is available for Mac and using it on a macbook would likely not be a fun experience due to the fact that Apple put Intel graphics on the basic MacBook and MacMini. The other thing to consider is that RCT3 I don't believe is a universal binary yet so it will be running in emulation until that is available. It does seem that both the mac and pc versions of NoLimits are in sync. I do not know if it is universal or not though. The other thing to consider is that if you buy a windows license you can play the first 2 RCT titles on the new macs fairly easily. It is also possible that they will be playable on OSX when DARWINE (the mac port of WINE) is further along. -
Google Coaster Video
kenshinmac replied to brygee910's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
lol... Two kids one year apart... Of course it is kinda funny to me because you can hear the trim brake they put in for 2006... If you listen and know where it is... Ok it is around the 24 second mark on the video... Honestly that is kinda nuts... But very funny... -
RCT2 AMAZING PARK NO HACKS
kenshinmac replied to JayJ's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Ok use Paint in Windows and then save the file as a JPEG file and it should probably upload fine. You can also reduce the picture size if it is needed then compress it. Hope that helps. You just can't upload bitmaps because they are huge and unecessary. -
Thrillville
kenshinmac replied to arlen23's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
How many times do I have to explain this... There a few choices when it comes to games with things like coasters. •Either you can pre-render all the pieces and put in as much detail as you like but then it can only be played from a few angles (RCT1&2). •Generate low detail track pieces that can be pieced together and stored easily to allow you to have other details (people etc) in the world (RCT3, ThrillVille, SimCoaster, SimThemePark) •You can have only the coaster and preserve all the polygons the system is generating to create the track which is generated from a curve that is stored by the system. This creates the most lifelike tracks but isn't appropriate for a park simulation because it requires an immense amount of power just to create the track. (No Limits and other such programs) So plain and simple if you want something that is a park simulation we just don't have the processing power yet to have all coasters with smooth curves. It may be possible in the next few years but I am not sure as it will really require a whole lot more to generate and swap in and out of memory. In creating these things the programmers have to make numerous tradeoffs so that is why there is no perfect coaster game. -

RCT3 Start up Help
kenshinmac replied to FeelTheFORCE's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Um dunno... Sounds like you might just want to uninstall and re-install. It is impossible to identify the problem from your description so that is really most likely the best Course of Action... Hope that solves your problem. Just make sure to not tell it to get rid of game files when you uninstall. -
Cedar Fair buys PARAMOUNT PARKS!
kenshinmac replied to Canobie Fan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I wonder what the focus of Cedar Fair will be for the parks... I mean the Paramountie Parks seemed to be focusing on families and the like heavily for the last few years. Cedar Fair always has seemed to try to mix the big rides with relatively few family attractions. People seem to assume that all Cedar Fair parks are run like Cedar Point well I think many of the posts about the current state of Knotts make it clear not all Fair parks are run equally. Hopefully the ParaParaParamount (sorry... I'm a bemani dork) parks will not fall under poor management. I hope that this works out for the best but that is a TON of parks to manage. This puts Cedar Fair on a similar level to Six Flags. -
Help me on rct2
kenshinmac replied to Zach4444's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I believe RCT2 pics go into a folder in the RCT2 folder. You need to convert them to jpeg though before posting. Just use Paint and use saveAs and select JPG/JPEG as your file type. I'm not sure that is the exact file type in Paint but it will be close. That should do it. -
Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread
kenshinmac replied to the_rock401's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Man... I feel really bad for the people involved... That is an incredible failure. That level of failure shouldn't happen. I don't know it seems that the Morgan trains have a serious problem. I'm just amazed because it really looks like the final car managed to lose the full wheel assembly(were the bogies left behind?). How is that even possible? It really seems like anything that would have caused a catastrophic failure like that should have been picked up. BTW does anyone know how Morgan trains are arranged? It doesn't look to be trailered. It looks like they are independent... Is that correct? That would mean 3 bogies at least... Scary indeed. -
yet another rct3 track
kenshinmac replied to a topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Why would you resize the thing now... The detail is lost... You need to capture the original image and then not size it down as much. Just convert it to a JPG with Paint on XP and you are good. If you guys really want a more through photo editor though I suggest everyone checks out the GIMP. It is an excellent program which works incredibly well. For some reason though it doesn't like something about installing on my machine... Still it is worth a try as it is free and quite excellent. You should be able to find windows specific downloads on something like download.com -
Six Flags England (RCT3)
kenshinmac replied to jason10's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Ok the likely problem is that you haven't converted the pictures from Bitmaps to jpegs. Simply open the pictures in paint on Windows and you can just select SaveAs and pick jpg or jpeg as your file type. That will significantly reduce the file size. If it still isn't enough you will have to change the size of the picture. That can also be done through paint. Hope all that helps. -
More Streaming Help!
kenshinmac replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It was a joke, dude. People who are gay for their mac = macfag. Haha. Eh call me sensitive or whatever... I take enough crap from most PC users to start having things like that associated with me for being a Mac user... Strange thing with the videos though is that they seem to load in the Flip4Mac Quicktime plugin. I don't really understand why that is since they appear to be MPGs. Perhaps there is some code that tries to invoke WMP? Maybe it is something with the files formatting... I dunno it just seemed really strange to me. The upside is though that I don't need to download twice... I can just rightclick the file and save the file. Oh yeah and Robb I am on a G4 Mini right now... I really do want to get a MacBook though... -
More Streaming Help!
kenshinmac replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Um I don't have any problem with the videos... Oh and just so everyone knows I'm not a Macfag... I'm a MacUser... Thanks... BTW I have my PC for games... But thats about it... Probably won't ever do that again now that I can use Bootcamp if I ever feel the need to have Windows on a Mac... So goodbye crap PCs... -
Mr. Six back from the dead?
kenshinmac replied to Homer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Queue the vengaboys... I really hope he is back... I mean honestly I don't care about the freaking oldy moldy superheros they are trying to push on us... Heck the looney tunes haven't had a new show since that stinker that tryed to make them all edgy and crap (TinyToons was their last good outing and that wasn't even about them). We need an adventures of Mr. Six... That people will care about. How about some real Mr. Six rides? Journey through the old folks home: a trippy adventure through the kind of place that hands out painkillers strong enough to let an old man dance like he does... Would definitely need some special glasses to pull of the effects that that guy must be feeling. Journey through senility: a ride that makes riders actually forget why they got on it in the first place... What an idea... Sorry... I was just having one of those weird days... I really hope Mr.Six is back because he is kinda an endearing character. -

Lucas Arts developing theme park game
kenshinmac replied to TheGreatOne's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Seriously if I took that kind of attitude about games I would have missed some of my favorite games ever... I've played plenty of crap games in my life but honestly dismissing something before you have even seen it is absolutely pathetic. I mean at least have something to base it on. You don't even know that it is the same style of game. Lets at least wait until we can get impressions and media from people who aren't NDAed... Sigh... NDAs are the devil... They stop me from getting info I want... -
