Wanna buy a piece of hades?
kenshinmac replied to Waterpark101's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ok WTH... How can those break? I really thought that the seats were more substantial than that. I mean I know it says seat covers but those things seem to go back quite a ways. Isn't that the whole seat or am I misinterpreting this? If someone can explain exactly where these come from maybe I can understand how on earth these could just break off... Right now I am just completely lost. -
I know it hasn't been long since my last reply but seriously you guys are just sick... I mean honestly if one of you dies would you want someone saying "Oh I always knew such and such would get him". At least respect the guy for his work and give him his due instead of cheapening his memory... He did a damn site more than 99.9% of this forums members will ever do... I can't believe how immature people can be about these sort of things... I mean at least the guy did some good on this world. How many of you can say that? Sure it was cool to make fun of him and the like but please when someone passes at least have the respect for another human being to at least not post something hurtful. I'm honestly not going to say anything more unless I get provoked but think about how it would feel if you were on the other end of this...

Those of you making crass remarks about how this should have been expected should damn well read about what happened... This is a freak accident and people film around rays without worrying about it plenty. The sad fact is that had the barb of the stingray hit anywhere else the guy would have almost certainly been living... Have a freaking heart please... Especially for his children Bindi 8 and Bob 2... Now they have no father... That said he was always fun to watch because he was so enthusiastic about everything he did. Heck Robb's enthusiasm for coasters is largely the same sort of thing... I guess that is probably why I am here in the first place... This is a horrible accident and it is very sad that we have all lost an amazing personality and a caring if occasionally misguided father to two very cute kids... My heart goes out to all that are involved in this... Thanks for all the fun Steve and may your memory go on...

Just use Windows Movie Maker which should be installed on almost any copy of Windows XP. It isn't too good but it isn't terrible... -

My Eyes!!!!!! IT BURNS!!!!! Auggghhhhh.... No seriously though that is pretty cool. It kinda reminds me of the jet coasters in Japan with the long shallow drops and hills. Pretty cool but the colors are enough to burn one retinas... -

Ouch... I gotta say that first hill kinda looks like it would hurt. I don't think spinning mice have drops like that typically... Oh BTW the way you record videos is to press shift+F11 typically I believe but I think sometimes adding Ctrl to the keys is necessary for some reason. I'll give it a check later though if you don't say you have success. -

This is excellent news... It is great to see that S&S is going to stick around and keep making its brand of wacky rides. I wish all of the people there the best and hope that maybe just maybe they might give us a few sneak peaks of some new rides in the future (Please give us some previews early... We are impatient... ) -

The Swats are amazing... One of my favorite flat rides ever... Sadly it seems that they have serious reliability problems... I have only ridden the Thorpe park installation but OMG it was amazing. I couldn't believe the forces in the outside rows... It was much more comfortable in the center... Honestly I think they should make some smaller models of it as it could be an amazing seller. -

I believe that when it says 5 cars it means 5 total cars... 1 car trains... That is low low low capacity IMHO. I mean the Intamin bobs with individual cars take at least 4-5 on inline with what looks like up to 8 on some of them with 2 per row and 4 rows per car. -

Honestly each of those chains probably will support close to a ton... I wouldn't worry at all about it... Seriously though if it looked super safe what would be the fun of the ride... I can promise you though the chains aren't anything to worry about. -
S&S Sansei Discussion Thread
kenshinmac replied to Coaster Joe's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Honestly I was the first to post after Robb and I had no real doubts about this because S&S hasn't had any superstars since the tower... I think the company grew a bit too quickly what with the acquisition of Arrow and so on but it is likely someone else would have taken more of the tower sales if they hadn't grown as fast as they did... I hope S&S isn't finished because the have some really crazy ideas and I think things like the Screaming Squirrel if tweaked would be ideal rides for small parks. I also think that they should look at smaller flats instead of the giants... I mean it seems like Huss and S&S are being done in by trying to focus on the giant flats instead of smaller ones that work for all parks... Giants just don't ever turn into blockbusters... There aren't enough parks that can use the giant flats... Well all that said I honestly hope that they can keep running because the number of American amusement companies seems to pretty low. Beyond everything else I don't want people with crazy ideas to be out of work... These guys need to keep coming up with crazy stuff but maybe on a bit smaller scale... People with connections please tell them our thoughts are with them and we wish them all the best... Hopefully things will work out well and they will be bringing us more insanity soon. -

Thats all I can say... I loved their new ride ideas and really felt that they were creating some unique rides. I can't help but wonder if this is a sign of things to come for the industry. I mean parks in general have suffered through poor earnings for years now and maybe the companies supplying the rides have been struggling as well... I dunno I never would have thought S&S though because they installed a ton of those Screaming Swings... You know I only just realized that almost all of their models in recent years at least all had the initials S.S... Sorry... -

I love all these people saying there is no way they can fit anymore rides into the park... You obviously have never been to blackpool... Now granted it isn't exactly tasteful but they have rides on top of rides on top of rides... It is very possible to add probably 1-2 creative coasters to the land they currently have developed with minimal relocation or removal of rides. Plus I have never understood why the area in the Twister 2 helix remains undeveloped. It seems like a great location for a (very) small flat ride... -

Hopefully someone will buy it and run it as a park... Plus with a creative company we could see some really fun rides in the admittedly limited space they still have. It is a great property and a well known name. -

Obviously you are far too young then... The Railroad was there for years... I don't remember when it was closed though... -
Elitch Gardens Discussion Thread
kenshinmac replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Have you guys even read the thing? Basically the site is not really feasible for any other use and the asking price is obviously not for just the land... The price is to sell the park as a whole. I can't imagine that a company could really make it worthwhile to buy the land what with the cost of the park and the costs associated with changing the zoning and everything else... Besides Six Flags is looking to sell properties but the amount of bad press that the old Six Flags got for closing down one property would be a death sentence for the new owners. Heck do the rest of you remember the stock price fall that happened when they announced that they were closing Astroworld? I think they will do whatever they can to try to preserve the parks since they are in many cases very important to the cities in which they reside. -
Did I miss something..
kenshinmac replied to DarkStitch626's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Just uninstall the whole thing... Then install starting with RCT3 and then Soaked then Wild... You don't have to worry about files because everything about the game is stored in your "My Documents" folder and therefore it won't get rid of it when you uninstall. Oh and DO NOT install any updates for the other expansions. Just install the newest Wild! update from Frontier's forums. -
rct3 performance issues
kenshinmac replied to absolutace's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Yes it is! My god, go to the official Atari forums or the Official Fonteir forums! Its coded bad and they'll admit it! People just maybe take some small bit of consideration into what I say and get a reliable source before you correct me. You know it might be easier to actually take you seriously if you spelled Frontier correctly in ONE of your posts... Oh and I have hit their forums a lot. I have never seen the employees say that the game was poorly coded. If you can find an example and link to it great... Otherwise just stop posting about this. -
rct3 performance issues
kenshinmac replied to absolutace's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
You just don't get it do you... There is no way you can compare something like RCT3 to most kinds of games. There is so much going on and there is no easy way to fake things so that you can get that little extra speed. Honestly I doubt anyone here has any idea of the work involved in creating a 3d game. So honestly I wouldn't presume to know anything about whether a team did a good job or not. All I know is that if you look at games that try to similarly simulate people in a 3d environment they all run with similar chugging to RCT3. Hey Sims2 runs much worse typically for me than RCT3 and it only simulates a half dozen or so people. -
rct3 performance issues
kenshinmac replied to absolutace's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Ok well lets see you do better... Obviously you need to evaluate the amount that is going on in a game like RCT3 and a simulation like NoLimits... RCT3 has millions more calculations going on just to have the people moving around the screen. Realize that each of them has the geometry and AI calculations that have to be made. There is no really good way to simplify all of those calculations... I mean heck look at something like Sims 2... How many people does that have? What are the requirements for the game? It is just a simple issue of scale that you will never solve. The more calculations needed the harder it is for a game to run. Oh and don't bring up the first RCTs because those were 2d and therefore required far less calculations to be made. Oh and on the building differences imagine if the game had to keep track of even more details with a freeform geometry system for the coaster tracks. It would just add even more that the game had to keep track of and add additional geometry to process. Everyone just has to realize that with all games there have to be sacrifices made and you can't have everything. Now all that said the best thing you can do to get better performance out of RCT3 is to get a faster processor and more RAM.
