  1. I'm looking forward to Thunderbird, but Lightning Run is still way better than any wing coaster could ever hope to be I felt the same way about the dry park. The waterpark makes it worth the price of admission, though.
  2. They could make a show out of this, called "Orange is the New Track."
  3. ^Agreed. Every major ride had at least a 45 minute wait when I went a couple of weeks ago, and it was a weekday. Even the lines for Demon, Whizzer, and American Eagle were that long, which surprised me.
  4. I was at Taste of Chicago on its opening day last week, and it was PACKED. You had to buy tickets in packs of 12 for $8.50. Most items there seemed overly expensive (for instance, a canned drink was 6 tickets), so I just got a few things with my 24 tickets: a small portion (like 4 bites) of some sort of Vietnamese beef dish (which was quite good), an empanada, a Mountain Dew, a slice of cheesecake, and I got some free samples of potato bread and ice cream.
  5. David Tennant is my favorite doctor from New Who. I still have yet to watch the older episodes. Any suggestions on where to start? All the way at the beginning? lol Favorite character: River Song, because she's just awesome Least Favorite: Rose (blank stare) Tyler, because she had the same confused look on her face all the time, like she was constantly trying to remember her lines (though IMO, her character is more interesting after the first season).
  6. I've always had to pair up with people on the Zipper. I got crammed in there with two other random people once. Good thing we were all really skinny. Like other people have said, it's a safety restriction to make sure people remain positioned properly in their seats.
  7. Wow, I was just thinking about something like that water slide incident happening when I was on the trapdoor slide at Kentucky Kingdom. I can't believe they would re-open the slide without doing a thorough inspection of the dropping mechanism.
  8. I think the wait for Goliath stayed between 2-3 hours last Thursday, with 2 trains running. The line was the longest at the beginning of the day, probably closer to 4 hours. I was at Indiana Beach a couple of days before, and I was amazed at how dead that park was. I actually had to ask the ride operators if a ride was running, and they'd be like "It is now. Hop on." The Double Shot at IB tried to kill me. That ride has some INTENSE ejector air. Also, Cornball with zero wait for the back seat was awesome. A few times, I was the only person on the train.
  9. Everyone is wearing a "speedo" by the end of Deep Water Dive.
  10. I never actually saw Quake running. I didn't know it was the non-inverting kind. That does sound kind of meh, then.
  11. They should bring back Quake, or better yet, a Top Scan. That would be pretty unique.
  12. I just got back from Kentucky Kingdom. Here's my experience with some of the major rides: Lightning Run - 3 rides, 1 front & 2 back (1-train operation. My first ride was a walk-on, and it had about a 45 minute wait the rest of the day) The back seat is definitely the best, for the airtime down the first drop and first camelback. After that, the rest of the ride felt about the same to me, regardless of which seat I was in. About halfway through the ride, the airtime started to feel stronger, and that intensity kept up until the end of the ride. The final bunny hops were brutal, but not in a painful way. The only thing I didn't like was the funky lumbar support ridge on the back of the seat. The shin restraints were fine for me. Even though the ride is intense, it's very re-rideable. I'd rank it in my top 3 for sure, probably above Maverick. Thunder Run - 2 rides, 1 front & 1 back (1-train operation. <10 minute wait both times I rode it) The first drop isn't very exciting in any seat, but the first few camelback hills have some nice sustained airtime, especially in the front of the train. The banked turns are surprisingly forceful, too. The ride felt a little rough near the end, but it's MUCH better than it used to be. Deep Water Dive - 1 ride (longest wait of the day, probably around an hour) I had never been on a speed slide before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was hoping to be able to look out at the rest of the waterpark as I was going down the slide, but instead I had to keep my eyes shut as I was engulfed with a giant wall of water from the very beginning of the drop. I don't remember it even feeling like a drop. It just felt like I was going really fast while someone was giving me a wedgie and spraying a fire hose up my nose for a few uncomfortable seconds. At least it cleared out my sinuses FearFall - 1 ride (walk on) I always enjoy a good ARM tower. I had just ridden the slightly taller Oh-Zone at a Lake Winnie a couple days prior. While Oh-Zone has the superior drop, IMO, this one still packed a punch. The seats feel very open, like there's not much holding you in on the sides, which definitely adds to the experience. The view on the parking lot side of the tower wasn't that great, though. Also, the queue entrance was in a really weird and confusing location. Other general park stuff: I didn't pick up a park map, because I thought I was familiar enough with the general layout of the place already. However, even after walking through most of the park, I still thought the layout was confusing... like REALLY confusing. I found myself constantly hitting dead ends when I thought I was headed the right way (even for areas I'd already visited), and often it was hard to tell which way to go to reach a certain ride. The type of pavement in the water park varies as you walk between areas. In some places it felt fine, and in others it felt uncomfortably hot to my bare feet. Every time I hit a hot patch of pavement, I'd suddenly start power-walking to get past it and onto the comfortable pavement again. This isn't the type of thing I'd typically pick out of my experience at a water park, but it was hard not to notice. 11:00am-7:00pm is not a lot of time, and the water park was open for even less time than that. It really only felt like a half-day at the park. I'm looking forward to extended park hours in the future. It was interesting seeing the still-overgrown back half of the park from the top of the water slide towers. I can't wait to see what they do with the rest of the place over the next couple of years. The part that's done right now looks nice, especially the water park area. It makes you forget that you're in the middle of a city.
  13. ^Rocksmith is a lot of fun. I especially like the like the chord and scales practice mini-games. I just wish it had a way to pause the songs and show regular tabs. Sometimes even practicing the songs at the slowest speed is still too fast, and I have to look up the tabs online. My go-to songs are Plug In Baby by Muse and Slither by Velvet Revolver (only the rhythm part, because I can't play fast solos and stuff).
  14. I hereby declare this the official "YOLO Slide." They should have known to use tunnel pieces on the top of the hill. That way they could make the ejector air as strong as they wanted, and the raft would magically stay in place. Anyone who's played Roller Coaster Tycoon knows that.
  15. The racing slide seems like it would need jets on the uphill slope, and a quick way to evac people when they inevitably slide back.
  16. Coming soon - Daulossus, featuring: A Dueling Double-Helix Spiral Lift Hill! High five down the first drop! A pre-lift section like you've never seen, featuring the world's first Jojo-Five! Back-to-back underground Low Fives! Stengel Five! ...and much more!
  17. I like to watch The Amazing Race, but I've heard some complaints that the show, especially near the end of the season, might be a bit rigged in favor of the team with the best back-story. I guess that's just the nature of reality TV, though. I don't watch a lot of TV, but I did finish Breaking Bad. It was great
  18. So glad to hear Thunder Run is running well. It had some great airtime when I rode it, but it was extremely rough.
  19. ^Know or Go in Orlando was great
  20. Ellen is the only talk show I still watch on a regular basis, even though I don't have TV anymore. The only guests I don't really care to see on her show are Sophia Grace and Rosie (I still don't get why Ellen spoils those kids SO much. I'd hate to see them get burned out from all this fame and attention.), and the "Long Island Medium." Luckily, since I'm just watching clips on Youtube, it's easy to skip those segments. Some of my favorites bits are: Anything with Theme park visits and of course, "crazy ADHD piano prodigy kid." rofl
  21. I bought the GOG version of RCT2, but I can never play it for more than about an hour on my Win7 computer without it crashing.
  22. Launched Mack coaster with inversions, that's my guess.
