HaHa! I called it so long ago. Man, I should have made a wager. Now will Clay Aiken finally grow some and just come out?

Like I mentioned before Knotts does not have these on their ride. I'm not sure how CP operates thier swing, but at Knott's they do not want you to lower the harness. The operator must do it hence the constant rechecking of seats due to people not listening.
-
But in Hawaii you guys have L&L Hawaiian BBQ! We have like 3 or 4 of those here in Vegas now because of the large island population. Its good food too!

I was browsing some pictures of Cedar Point's new S&S Screamin' Swing when I noticed that they have added something similar to a seatbelt to the inside "side" of the restaint. The connection is made via a carabiner that clips to a metal loop between each pair of seats. I'm assuming this was an aftermarket addition by CP. When I was at Knott's they didnt have anything like that on their swing. Is this just a no/no go measure? That strap of fabric doesnt look like its gonna hold anyone in. I thought that these rides had a sensor for each harness if it was down far enough in addition to locking in two places. So does anyone else think this is just overkill like the seatbelts on their corkscrew?
-
I still think the addition of the seatbelts on that ride is rediculous. Have they done the same thing to Iron Dragon too?

HAHA! That sounds like the reverse of a job interview. You know, answering the questions so you DONT get picked! At least you get some air conditioning...until a rolling blackout happens that is.

hmm...i havent eaten yet and all this talk of mostly low quality food is making me hungry! favs raising canes - chicken finger restaurant! even though there isnt a big selection, its soo good. not many places in vegas sell sweet tea, so this place is definately at the top of my list. in and out - double double animal style! fatburger - with gas at $3 a gallon you have to avoid the drive through if theres more than one car waiting cause it takes so long, but its really good. the breakfast sandwiches are good after a night out on the town. bakers - to me they taste like in and out. thier mexican food isnt that bad either. too bad the closest one to vegas is in Victorville/Hesperia farmer boys - they have good breakfast. again too bad the closest one is a few hours away in California. del taco - who can beat taco tuesdays?

My experience working in the Magic Kingdom/TTC parking lot while on the Disney College Program totally erased my fear of thunderstorms. Once you are out IN storms everyday for 6 months, fears tend to go away.

AMEN! I don't know how it is where you all are from but it is such a effen hassle to get excused. I was in the middle of exams my sophmore year of college when I got a summons and it took literally two weeks to get excused.

The mechanical (moving) locking/unlocking mechanism from my experience is typically called a "platen". On Arrows there is traditionally one long single platen that is moved up and down by hydraulic arm/pump. On the underside of the train there is a vertical-oriented wheel attached to an arm that unlocks the restraints for that particular car. As the platen is raised the wheel moves along the metal surface. That motion in turn unlocks the restraint. You can most clearly see this on Arrow Suspended coasters. As mentioned B&M's use the same basic idea except they have some electrical components to them. Hence the need for a battery to unlock seats when out of a station. On Arrows, however, its all mechanical, so all you have to do is step on the pedal to unlock a particular car....in fact some early Arrows only had pedals! One interesting design is that used for the Disney Space Mountains (as well as a few of the basic dark rides). The platen is in a fixed position so when ever the train is in the load or unload area it remains unlocked. Once a train is advanced out of that area, then the train is "locked". That's why sometimes you see people get worried that thier lap bar isnt locked when they sit down. While we are on the topic of restraints and I'm talking Disney... I always thought it was interesting how Test Track and most other Disney rides with seat belts have a two stage seatbelt locking mechanism. That is, once you buckle the seatbelt it locks in its traditional manner. Additionally, there is another seperate electronic (?) lock that provides a second measure of security by preventing you from pusing down on the release. Next time you ride something like Indiana Jones Adventure or Test Track you'll notice you can open and close your seat belt at the load zone, but the minute you advance to the "seat belt check" area, you can no-longer release it.

What you did is called an "open jaw" flight. Where you either book a roundtrip and only use the first half of it or book a flight with a stop and get off at the stop. Airlines over the past few have been cracking down on this as it means an empty seat they would like to be able to sell (even though they got your money the first time.) In retaliation they MAY or MAY NOT cancel the rest of your intinerary if you have multiple open jaws.

i was hosting an event for work. up at the podium. mayor standing next to me when a big gust of wind lifts up the big vip tent behind me and hits me in the head. i wasnt sure what happened for a second, but ultimately it ripped open my mouth so that it felt like my lip was gone. lots of blood. this happened in april this year and im still recovering. it messed up 18 months of braces i had when i was back in 8th grade. broke one tooth. had 10 stiches inside and out. couldnt eat for like a week. its getting better now. got a retainer to push my teeth back. worst part was having to get three root canals on the same day with one tooth with a nerve that hadn't died.

Oh god...why? Why in the hell did they pick him for the interview. He is not a good "brand" representative if you get my drift. -

The Zipper has always been a love hate thing for me. As a little kid I was terrified by it, but loved the watch it. There's nothing like it! As I got a little older...like 11 or 12 I was brave enough to take it on with my sister (who as 8 or 9). Now I would never think of getting on it, but I still think its a great piece of machinery to watch. For those who have ridden in, you have to admit it does provide a pretty unique and out of control feeling especially when you flip fowards against the direction of the main boom. Its like a strange mixture of positive and negative G's its crazy. -

Fun trip! I too am one of those people who always wanted to go to SFFT just to see the quarry walls and how they surround the park. I hear they have some really good shows as well. As for Sea World, thier Shamu Stadium looks way different that the others. Its 360 almost, kinda like a football stadium versus the regular ampitheater set up like the others. Looks like they could do some cool things with that kind of set up. Plus it looks to be completely covered! -
There were a lot of cool aspects of this "park", but over time its gone way downhill and as mentioned is dying a slow painful death which is a shame. Other stuff that people havent mentioned yet... - You enter through one of two elevators on the ground floor. Inside the elevator there is a little movie with special effects with the Genie (from Disney's Aladdin). - My two favorite attractions were the Mighty Ducks pinball game (or whatever its called). You stood on these hover board things and played the game via this huge video wall. The other was the Pirates of the Caribbean 3D game. - Near the Buzz Lightyear bumper car game they had tons of old school video games. They were all included with the price of admission so that alone was cool to be able to play them over and over again. - The Alien Encounter thing was ok. Kinda confusing at first, but it was ok. You and 3 others sit in a room with screens all around you. You use "weapons" to retrieve materials, blast aliens, etc. For some reason I was expecting the thing you sit on to move. - The create your own CD thing was one of the best times I had when I was on my Disney College Program. Me and few friends made a song that I still have today! All in all, it was an ok place. I guess I was just spoiled because the times I went they were running a special free admission for CMs. I was cleaning my closet yesterday and came across two PI/DisneyQuest/Waterpark comp passes good through October. Maybe I should make a visit before they close?
