S&S is building something seriously weird
JG-77 replied to KBrylczyk's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Holy shit, it's a suspended coaster on steroids! -
On the bright side, Disney's new streaming service is shaping up to be awesome! Knoebels is being paved over and replaced with an industrial mining operation.

This is a bit interesting: RCDB lists this miler as headed to old town: https://rcdb.com/17758.htm I wonder whether they heard it was going to be erected in old town or if it’s just being temporarily stored there and is being listed as such? -

I've always wanted to ride one of these large milers, since it looks like they can give solid air on the drops. -
I'd agree with the improving operations. Even at SFA, Superman on busier days would be running two trains, with the 2nd train frequently sitting on the brake run for just 10-15 seconds before they dispatch. I've even caught a couple of times when the train was dispatched before the other train even reached the brakes. Not as nearly impressive as impressive as Nitro or S:TR @SFNE, but still impressive that SF was able to get SFA's operations into something tolerable.

I've been tossing around the idea of visiting this park the weekend between FF and HITP. While I'm would never go to thips park with the assumption of it being dead due to its unpredictability, is it reasonable to expect marginally smaller crowds during this weekend than on a typical FF weekend? Also, anyone know if the Safari be open? 600th post!

^ I somehow missed it, glad you enjoyed your visit! Don't think I've seen too many photos from the arcade, so I liked seeing that. For future photo TR's, I'd recommend putting more comments underneath the photos, since that's a great place to talk about some of the more specific details on how your day went. -
Nice report! I'm a huge fan of everything that runs on rails, so thanks for sharing that experience! In case you were curious, the reason there are so many Union Stations in North America is because Union Station was used as a general term for a rail station that served multiple lines from different companies. Now many of them only serve one or two services, but the name remains.

When I went on a mid-July Friday trip to SFGAm in 2018, there was scattered thunderstorms forecasted for nearly a week in avance for that day, but when I actually got there, there was only overcast weather and a bit of drizzling, and the park was absolutely dead. Not sure if that's normal, but that's my experience.

IMO, with some wooden coasters a slight-to-moderate amount of roughness can make it more exciting than if it was glass smooth. -

Quick question: is the Safari open during Do crowds tend to die down at all during the last sunday (and by extension last day period) of FF? -
I think that Pinfari Zyklons can be overhated. When done right (like at the Maryland State fair the past couple years), they're actually quite fun. The one at the fair two-car 8 person trains with cushy seats and one-position buzz bars. On the two drops, you can actually get borderline stand up floater that's actually kinda awesome. The rest of the ride is smooth and comfortable if uninteresting, and it finishes with a flat turn that gives some solid laterals. Anyone know of any other zyklons like this?

Drone light shows when done well can actually be really cool, hope I can see it when I eventually get out here, which probably won't be for a long time sadly. -
What are your TOP TEN COASTERS

Just curious, how did T-Express score so highly? Based on what I've seen, it just looks like a clone of Balder (which didn't crack your list) with a Toro sampler platter tacked on to the beginning. What made it stand apart from those 2 rides? (Note, when I say it's a clone of balder, it's literally identical to Balder after the MCBR; compare the povs) -
Photo TR: Jeremy Rides all the RMC's
JG-77 replied to chickenbowl's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Glad you enjoyed them, I had the privilege of riding Twisted Timbers recently and it was freaking awesome, especially considering my only other RMC was Goliath (which I also love, but not nearly as much as TT). It just kept throwing you out of your seat over and over. That reverse banked part was probably the highlight for me, though the whole thing was excellent. It's a shame that I only managed 2 rides on it due to a tight schedule, but I'm glad I got what I got. Also minor correction, we got five new RMC's in 2018, not four: SV, TT, Wonder Woman GLC, Railblazer, and Twisted Cyclone. -

If you post regularly on TPR you don't qualify as representative of the majority of Six Flag's patronage. -
That day wasn’t exactly packed, but there were a decent number of people, and Ka held like a 40 min line since they could only launch 1 train per Zumanjaro cycle. One person said they had a maintenance issue with the train they would normally use as the 2nd train, but they have two other trains, so I’m still confused why it happpened.
