So to steer things away from the clusterf*ck that is this thread atm: I'm going to be in NYC for a night toward the end of the month, and am thinking of taking the NJT 355 bus to check out the park on the $35 twilight ticket on Sunday the 26th. It'll be a bit pricey ($55 for the ticket, bus, and tax), but I haven't been able to get to a park since last August, and this is looking like my best opportunity in the next several months. I haven't used NJT before, nor have I been to the PABT. I'm aware the PABT has a reputation for being difficult to navigate, but I'm hoping that if I study the (rather clumsy) official map I can figure out how to get to gate 355 in 15min or so (hopefully less, but I'd rather not risk underestimating). Ideally I'm hoping to catch the 5:10 bus, but if I miss it and wind up on the 5:30, it's not the end of the world. Also, are there any relatively reasonably priced decent enough restaurants in the Times Square Subway/Port Authority Complex? I'm at an event further uptown until 4:30, so I won't have much time to grab dinner. Does anybody have any tips that could be helpful if I were to make this journey? Any advice is appreciated!

Hmm, odd. Maybe there was an internet error on my end, I was on school wifi so that could be a contributing factor. No worries, I got the rankings fixed

Knoebels Discussion Thread

My thoughts and prayers go out to the woman and her husband, may they both move onward and upward from these treacherous times. Glad I got to ride it while it was still around! I wonder if Knoebel's is going to figure out how to run this new ride unnaturally well. Looking forward to next season! -

Perhaps they were holding out that they could get it fixed up, and only now have they decided it would be better to just replace it. -
Any change you can make the "Finished ranking" button save your work before submitting the ranking? I put in quite a bit of rearranging to my list, pressed finished ranking, and none of the changes were saved because I didn't realize I'd need to press the save button

Six Flags America (SFA) Discussion Thread

Nice to hear! Those booths were underutilized and somewhat in the way of crowds, glad the area’s being improved. Between this and the bathrooms from last year it looks like SF is actually giving a crap about the overall experience, which is good news. Btw where did you hear this, a link would be nice. -

Granted, it's too much and it devastates the Charlotte Metro area, as they are only prepared to handle a couple inches. I wish Knoebels was open for the winter. -

I wonder if she'd be willing to take a crash course in ride maintenance so she can take care of his needs if he moves in. -

Curious what sort of fury Knoebels would see from 1001's wife if it was removed. -
What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?
JG-77 replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I actually think it was a pinfari zyklon at the Maryland State fair, but at least it was one of the good ones, with padded seats, buzz bars, some laterals at the end, and legitimate airtime in the back seat. -
What is the most "Forceless" coaster?
JG-77 replied to DoinItForTheFame's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hurler is probably the most force less large coaster I've been on, sans the vibrations. I think I got more forces on Adventure Park USA's kiddie coaster -

Sweet! I doubt I can contain my excitement at walking across this new exist ramp in the future! I imagine it will go something like -
Pear Shaped, but instead of shaped like a tear drop it's shaped like a literal Pear, stem and everything. DC Metro of SF BART?

Regarding food on Amtrak: If you're doing a sleeper car, meals are include, otherwise you must pay. Food on long distance routes west of the Mississippi are prepared on the train, and is usually good. On shorter routes, as well as the all the long distance routes on the east coast (except the Auto Train), most of the food is now just pre-made and reheated before consumption after budget cuts. The reasoning for cutting eastern but not western routes, if anyone is curious, is that because the eastern long distance routes are shorter (about 1-2 days) than the western routes (about 2-3 days), full dining service is less important. Oh well.

Kinda. Six Flags typically makes general attempt at opening new rides around memorial day, but regularly takes longer than that date (SFMM is the exception, as their 2020 ride looks to be opening in winter!). If everything goes right, SF sometimes soft opens rides a week or so early for members and pass holders. RMC is generally good at getting things done on time, so I'd say there's about a 60-70% chance it will open in May

Wanna help me plan a US trip?
JG-77 replied to Melody303's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
One random note, while I agree that riding kiddie coasters just for the credit is silly, I would recommend rising Kosmo's Curves at Knoebels, possibly the country's best kiddie coaster not located at a random farm in Arizona. -

JG-77 replied to Melody303's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
100% agreed with everything Taylor said. I'd also add that you need to keep in mind just how huge the US is geographically. It's about 75% the size of all of Europe. From Carowinds to Six Flags Great Adventure is a continuous 10 hour drive assuming no bathroom or food breaks, and assuming ideal traffic conditions (which you can't be guaranteed to have the whole time). Those parks are nearly 1000km apart. The danger of sleep exhaustion is real; a severely sleep deprived driver can be as dangerous as a drunk driver. I strongly recommend picking one region of the US and sticking to it, saving other parts for future trips. Also, Taylor recommended Knoebels, and I cannot agree with this recommendation enough. Knoebels is one of the best parks on the continent, and IMO, is the best park in the Northeast -

Even if you like normal coke better than normal Pepsi (I don't find *that* big a difference), Coke absolutely slaughters Pepsi when it comes to diet sodas imo. Coke Zero is actually pretty good, while diet Pepsi should be avoided like the plague. -
Yay, I've been looking forward to this. One correction off the bat is that Firebird @SFA is still called Apocalypse, and you may want to remove volcano.
