  1. ^Yeah. All the cliche movie things they did (the kids, the forced love interest) definitely took away from the movie. Luckily it still had enough going for it to still be decent. I do, however, worry about the sequel...
  2. Doubt it will. Six Flags would likely settle and change the policy instead of a lengthy legal defense where lots of their dirty laundry would be aired out.
  3. It's just Six Flags not investing in proper maintenance. Wood warping most certainly plays a role in it
  4. However, it is a very grey area. By having the doctors name and office information, one could argue that is a violation of the privacy granted under HIPAA because Six Flags can google the doctors information and then make assumptions. I am sure Six Flags lawyers think they are in the clear. However, I am also sure there will be another lawyer out there who will chase the money and challenge them. I am just interested in the outcome, since this is something that would be groundbreaking for the whole industry.
  5. It's not that simple though. It's easy for us as able bodied individuals to say it is no big deal because it's not something we have to deal with and we assume it is a hassle free process. Imagine if you had to provide a doctors note to visit every park just to prove you were healthy enough to ride? It has no impact on me because if I am visiting SFMM (my local park), I am probably not riding much. If I am on vacation, I'm buying a Q-bot. But I do hate seeing this being written off as something so simple when it is actually far from it.
  6. ^^We do. It made national headlines when people were selling "tour guide" services with their pass at Disney parks. Disney changed their policy to be more strict as a result of that.
  7. Since we love beer so much on here...Wolk Creek Brewing is a great local brewpub by SFMM!
  8. You're missing what I am saying: that is not how it works legally. You cannot legally do anything besides ask what type of accommodation they need. If you harass them, make them feel uncomfortable, try to keep asking them if they REALLY need it...you are breaking the law. You can't treat someone asking for an accommodation (even if they are lying) like a shoplifter It doesn't work that way.
  9. ^There is no such thing as "bullshit" when it comes to the law. If the person says they need an accommodation, you absolutely cannot deny it because you think they are lying. Flashpass I believe at least lets you select your rides from the qbot while access pass guests still have to go from ride to ride and check in with an employee. I guess you could say it was comparable to the original version of flash passes that had to be scanned at a station in front of each venue, but it isn't exactly getting a free flashpass in its current form. ^^That's true as long as the alternative access point has no additional people waiting. If we are assuming that abuse is rampant, is it also safe to assume that people using the pass do not receive immediate access? Plus in your example, the actual time saved is probably negligible: person C would have to go to ride B, find the employee issuing the access pass to get the time to come back, walk back over to ride A, exit ride A, walk back to ride B to enter at the alternative access point and then hope there are no other alternative access riders in front of them...all in an extra 15 minutes. The reality is this: There's so many variables involved with these programs that there really is no such thing as a perfect system that can prevent abuse and keep a park out of a legal "grey area." Six Flags is either looking to set the new industry precedent or will be sued and change their policy very quickly. Though I am of the opinion they will get sued and lose, I applaud them for trying.
  10. The law doesn't allow for Six Flags to essentially interrogate a person and determine if they are lying or not. You HAVE to take their word. Plus, are they really getting something for free if the pass still makes them wait the wait time? And sometimes longer if the ADA access area is backed up?
  11. If you arrive in the day it will work. If you park at night it will be a separate fee.
  12. Seems like there is a thirst for all things western in China right now. I imagine if this gets built it'll be a hit.
  13. First time I've ever seen them advertise it. It's officially that time of year where you should stay away from any halloween event!
  14. Agreed about the layout. I wished for years that Intamin would be the ones to re-do it...just take that layout with their laminated track and I'm guessing it would produce the #1 coaster!
  15. For some reason, when I read this the image of Cartman in the Special Olympics popped into my head. Really, is there any group out there who doesn't feel they're more entitled than everyone else on the planet because of their particular challenge? Everyone has issues and some are more restrictive than others with regard to certain physically demanding activities. Would someone in an iron lung be entitled to sue a park over being denied access to a water slide? There's a point where catering to every special interest group becomes absurd, and I think we're close to it. In your example, the ADA wouldn't apply because the accommodation isn't reasonable if safety is a concern. So no, they wouldn't be able to sue. Well, I mean...they could sue, but they'd lose. In fact, in a case about amputees recently, that just happened: they sued a park for denying them ridership, but the court ruled since the manufacturer said no amputees, the park had an obligation to follow the state law which mandates they follow manufacturer guidelines and could not be held liable.
  16. I think that became a given once we didn't see any topper track. I'm guessing there will only be minor reprofiling.
  17. Well, that statement might technically be true. If they market them under a different name...
  18. Well, at least we won't have to hear about BTTF anymore after today.
  19. I imagine they will either be empty or sold out. Southern California LOVES Halloween, so being the only game in town for one weekend may work to their benefit.
  20. Stand company probably designed the rides the same way Stengel is involved with B&M and Intamin projects...subcontracting happens all the time.
  21. These nights are being billed as an "after party" featuring more entertainment: Special fan meet and greets with the Jabbawockeez Intense choreography, jaw dropping stunts and spectacular illusions of Academy of Villains. Distinctive sounds by innovative drummer/percussionist Ricky Rocks joined by DJ Nel and other surprise guests. Mesmerizing sights and beats of the Rhythm Extreme illuminated drummers
  22. Actually, they did include Fast & Furious for one weekend--I think the second weekend. I even got an email from Universal promoting it. However, apparently, it didn't work out (I heard trams were very backed up), so they stopped. And in past years, the Terror Tram did include a stop through the Mummy tunnel. I should clarify that I meant to say that the Terror Tram has never advertised that tour attractions were included aside from the test you mentioned. It wasn't ever mentioned as being open the week he visited (along with the other attractions he complained about), so it's a flawed argument IMO. Nobody cares about the Mummy tunnel, so I didn't count that... In any case... here's my reviews: Overall, it feels like the quality of the scenic keeps getting better, but the scares keep getting more generic with few exceptions. The other thing that stands out about HHN is that the mazes don't really have grand finales (except for AVP & Halloween). -Hallowen: my personal favorite. Great homage to the movies with a nice ending. The scene with Dr. Loomis was pretty cool. -Walking Dead: Really Long. I don't watch Walking Dead, so I don't understand the story. However, I will say that the maze was full of monsters. -This is the End: I thought the 3D was done well, but the maze really just couldn't decide what it wanted to be. Funny or scary? If you've seen the movie, it makes a lot more sense and you really laugh at the references. The Demon costume looks cool, but the scare is repetitive. It still turned out a lot better than I thought, but lacks the "wow" factor because it's a mix of funny and scary instead of going all in on either theme. The Heaven scene was great. -Insidious: Again, I haven't seen the movie so I don't know the story. But the use of scrims in this maze is awesome. Couple of great scares too. Probably the most innovative maze HHN has done so far in terms of FX. -Crimson Peak: the best looking maze HHN has done. Very beautiful gothic sets. Very basic scares though. -AVP: Stunning costumes and puppets, but a 100% repeat of last year. -Terror Tram: Needs a 100% overhaul. It's the same thing every single year. I really hope they can find a new route to take in the future. I wish they'd also include something for the trip back like they did the first year with the director putting a body in a wood chipper.
  23. ^Likewise! As far as this ride and the company is concerned...I wonder if they are starting small because they just don't have the resources for anything bigger?
  24. I think Universal's concern is that if guests see the big tower on the horizon they might head straight to their cars and drive there instead of stopping in CityWalk. That was my first guess...but Robb already clarified that it isn't visible from many places on resort property.
