  1. That week is the busiest week for all theme parks. Buy the flashpass.
  2. ^It's Possible Either that, or like many other U.S. businesses, they have added Chinese sales people to their team to attract business or investment.
  3. I hope the delay was to wipe it down with some citracide or other cleaners, because just hosing it down doesn't mean it's clean....
  4. You are actually supposed to start with the guests the furthest away from you. That way everyone is in front of you.
  5. Magic Mountain has a history of repainting sections of rides because new neighbors moved in: Viper had sections painted for X, Revolutions loop for Tatsu, Colossus for Goliath (and again in certain sections for Scream in 2003). Those are the ones I can recall recently.
  6. It's also clearly explained on the website the difference between a membership and a season pass is: membership is a monthly payment option with a minimum 12 month commitment that goes on for as long as you want it to while the season pass is only for 2016
  7. What's always struck me as odd about all Sea World parks is how they really have no shared vision for their designs. It's like they all started the same up until the 70's and then started heading in completely different directions. So each park has pockets of amazing new themeing mixed in with leftover 1970's remnants. Sea World San Diego has a great entrance and the shipwreck area with the rest still being the 1970's design.
  8. Totally agree about White Lightning being impressive. It is without doubt the best woodie in Florida haha. I share your thoughts about the prices at the park as well. When I visited we didn't go until late in the evening and it was still full price for a wristband and instantly showed me why a park that was open so late was almost deserted at that time. If prices were a bit lower I could imagine the park being packed in the evenings. Last week was my first visit to the new Fun Spot (did the Go Karts 10 years ago) and I have to say that I was really impressed! Honestly the wristband isn't a bad deal if you spend enough time to hit enough of the attractions. We did two of the Go Kart tracks, the enterprise, a couple of laps on the Freedom Flyer, a couple more on White Lightning (we had the train to ourselves---multiple dispatches with no problems!), the kiddie coaster credit, the screamin swing, kiddie rides with Jacob, and the skycoaster twice in a few hours! The staff were super friendly and always quick to run to whatever ride we wanted to operate. I wish we had something like this closer to me in the valley here in L.A.
  9. I believe those were pads for oil drilling.
  10. This past Friday, TPR was invited to check out the pass holder preview of Sea World's X-mas celebration. Long story short, all of the shows get X-mas overlays and a fun Christmas village was added with some great new food offerings. Welcome to Sea World San Diego! Recently the entire entrance plaza was enhanced... ...Complete with touch pools and much more open space. Very well done! It also happens to be the 50th anniversary season for Sea World. The old brewery restaurant is now full of historical displays... ...these line the entire building. Very cool! The restaurant also has concept art posted for the future of the Shamu exhibit... ...looks awesome! Throughout the park they also have these signs posted sharing information on the history of the park ...now onto X-mas: in previous years they had a snow play area in the park, but cut that out in the name of the drought...luckily they offer plenty more to make up for it! The penguin enclosure got some decorations Can't have a TPR update without a coaster photo, right? Manta is a fun little ride! Pets Rule is one of the many shows that gets an X-mas overlay New for 2015 is the Sesame Street X-mas: it was so packed during the preview night, I couldn't even see it! This resides in the 4D theater that previously housed the Polar Express show ...As did the shark reef exhibit Shame gets his own X-mas show as well with the underlying theme of "miracles" Which concludes with a great number from a gospel singer! Clyde & Seymour also get an X-mas overlay and are up to their usual hijinx. This show is always tons of fun! Over in the Christmas Village there was the obligatory Reindeer display The area was PACKED all night. It has a tree lighting ceremony and other fun entertainment throughout the night It is also where all of the signature food items are sold (we'll get to those in a second)... But first, some of the 1.5 million lights that are found throughout the park! These sausage rolls were yummy! Mash Potato Pizza I think will be the hit of the event. Pizza crust+mash potatos+bacon=amazing! Can't go wrong with cinnamon rolls and apple pie!
  11. I'd say that the adage of "If it isn't broken, don't fix it" applies. There's a ton of people who either have never been to Orlando and are thrilled to have this in CA or have been to Orlando and are excited that they no longer have to plan an expensive trip to Orlando to see it again.
  12. Metrolink train: take the Metrolink train (Antelope Valley Line) to the Newhall Station. From here, you can easily hop on either Santa Clarita Transit route 1 & 2 or 4 & 14 to the MRTC. Both lines service the Newhall Station every 15 minutes so you won’t wait long. From the MRTC, transfer onto a route 3 & 7 which takes you directly to Six Flags amusement park. I don't know the timetables, so this might be a stretch...but it's possible. Uber or Lyft is probably the easiest and cheapest option
  13. It's funny...after just getting back from WDW, I was telling everyone how much more I enjoy WDW because the parks there are better designed to handle the crowds. Disneyland has great atmosphere and rides (being the original), but the park always feels so crowded it takes away from the experience.
  14. You would have to play a lot of arcades, eat a ton of food, experience every ride/inflatable/etc.. to get your monies worth paying the price of a non member. It is a trade show first. It's not that you can't go and enjoy yourself, but rather that for the price you would have to pay, there is no way the experience is worth it. You'll experience the product and booth and get to chat with industry people, but you'll quickly realize that they don't have time to talk shop all day with fans.
  15. I don't think I have ever seen so much debate over who is building a coaster that we can reasonably sure we already know the layout of...
  16. Yes technically anyone can attend but you're right it is more expensive if you're not an IAAPA member. This is true. If you really want to go to IAAPA, you can. It's $385 for a non-member ticket. But keep in mind this trade show is not "play time" as it's an industry trade show for the people who are doing business with other industry vendors to attend. If you're sole purpose is going there just to "check it out" or "play" then you're going for the wrong reasons. THIS. It's not as exciting as you would think.
  17. I hope it works out. The old phrase is a "rising tide raises all ships" seems to apply. Orlando have more bars/nightclubs/high end shopping & dining will only benefit everyone as it helps attract more convention business.
  18. No way. Epcot is one of the few parks that is so spread out that you can just enjoy your day. Plus Illuminations is an amazing show! Doubtful it's budget related. Captain EO has run its course.
  19. Anyone who complains about the increase in AP prices just needs to see that tweet.
  20. There is. And also a two part play that is opening in London that is the continuation of the original Potter story arc.
  21. Not so sure I'd want to stay in a hotel in that area. I took an Uber from the park to the Hard Rock Casino...it didn't exactly look like an appealing area with lots to do besides BGT.
  22. Depending on what the new educational focused exhibit turns out to be, it might turn out better. Trying so hard to add a story to the show made it almost unbearable. People just want to see the orca's up close and watch them do a few cool things---that can still be accomplished with the educational focus.
  23. The special event page never lists private events. The only reason cheer competitions, grad nights, and home school nights are listed is because SFMM is marketing those themselves either on their own or in partnership with the organization. Key Club is a private group who rents the theater.
