  1. Even though we all kind of knew Universal bought the land, it was never officially confirmed by Universal until the earnings report from today.
  2. That would be a terrible waste of vodka.
  3. If I understand correctly, all the events open to everyone repeated on both Saturday & Sunday. The expo was also open Friday as well? So an annual pass holder who wanted to make time for the events could very well have done so. If I am reading right, the only difference is Hotel package guests received an extra panel and express access to the events? I'm not sure exactly what your e-mail said, but unless it said you would gain guaranteed access to all the stuff, I don't see what the fuss is about.
  4. I say good for Universal. They must have taken notice of the success of Star Wars weekend at Disney World and wanted to get in on the "weekend" action...which makes even more sense given their growing hotel room inventory.
  5. I liked the original Space Mountain music at Disneyland. Can't go wrong with Dick Dale.
  6. Cow on a string!!! Too bad I didn't hit the powerball...
  7. My guess is that they will have an agreement in place with the surrounding resorts to ensure the water park is always packed and they are making some money off those guests...
  8. It's been a disaster since the beginning...
  9. By all accounts, it is open to any GM employee with a GM employee ID badge.
  10. They do. There's even a few of the car design stations in the lounge, since it was updated as part of the overhaul.
  11. Not really since, most of Astroworld's rides were scrapped and I don't know about the status of the land that the park once stood on is? I think it's a parking lot for the football stadium. Never got developed.
  12. I don't have an NFL team I root for, so for me every year the Super Bowl is just a fun social event.
  13. I miss the days SFMM had themed uniforms for the whole park! My favorite was B:TR, which had tuxedo t-shirts.
  14. The Joker Will Wreak Total Mayhem in 2016 Iconic DC Comics Super-Villain Masterminds Plot to Seize the Most Insane Coaster in the History of Six Flags Great Adventure JACKSON, N.J. ─ January 27, 2016 ─ Chaos reigns supreme at Six Flags Great Adventure in 2016 as one of the world’s most iconic DC Comics Super-Villains commandeers the park’s 14th and most unique scream machine in its history, The Joker. Earlier this fall, the world’s largest theme park announced “Total Mayhem,” which quickly became one of the world’s most anticipated new coasters of 2016. But behind the scenes, criminal mastermind The Joker was secretly plotting to take over the new 4D, free-fly coaster and name it as his own. “The Joker is undeniably one of the greatest DC Comics Super-Villains ever created. Only someone with his warped sense of humor could provide this level of insanity ─ or spinsanity ─ with a new, vertical coaster that delivers gravity-defying somersaults with utter unpredictability. It is the perfect addition to our dynamic line-up of award-winning roller coasters because this ride delivers total mayhem with its next-generation, cutting-edge thrills,” said Six Flags Great Adventure President John Fitzgerald. After being lifted straight up a 12-story, 90-degree hill, this 4-D, free-fly coaster will wreak havoc as riders flip head-over-heels at least six times along the weightless journey. Thrill seekers will experience exhilarating leaps and dives along a horizontal plane, along with unexpected drops as they tumble from one level to the next. The wing seats amp up the pandemonium since riders will experience all of this chaos with no track above or below ─ just the sky, ground and adjacent Great Lake churning around them. The unique design of The Joker features: · Massive, imposing, floating and twisting I-box track frame in a unique two-tone design · One-of-a-kind onboard magnetic technology featuring smooth head-over-heels free-fly flips providing guests the feeling of weightlessness as they soar outside the confines of a traditional track · 4-D wing vehicles that seat up to 8 per vehicle with a total of 5 vehicles · Face-off seats that allow riders to face each other as they tumble head over heels · A 120-foot-tall, 90-degree hill that is ascended by an elevator-style, chain link lift · Two beyond 90-degree “raven” drops giving the sensation of free-falling The Joker is expected to wreak total mayhem beginning in the spring of 2016, and join the ranks of all legendary roller coasters at Six Flags Great Adventure. 15. I would imagine just based on that video we'll see some caves or something that you'll fly through. I would assume the queue will have some sort of themeing as well (all the video shows is a quick shot of the archway that says flying dinosaur).
  16. A Trojan has been in the Super Bowl 45/50 times, and won MVP 3 times! But anyways... On to the game... Panthers are rolling, but Denver's defense is also rolling. The one thing that really slows down a running QB/running game is a defense that can maintain their gaps and bring pressure...which happens to be what Denver is really good at.
  17. I hear that Circus Circus is actually the most profitable hotel in MGM's portfolio...since it's THE place for families.
  18. That's because you don't learn how to win a big game at UCLA.
  19. They save PLENTY of stuff that goes un-used for years before being re-purposed. That's why they had to keep building more warehouse space. Hell, the costume I used my rookie year as a stuffed animal in C3 in 2003 was previously used as bugs bunny in Toon TERRORtory in 1996/1997. It then went on to be used again for Doll Factory. It's probably in warehouse P somewhere waiting to be used again. Some of the clown animatronics inside C3 were Bear-y Tales figures (still had their paw feet!). The stuff they get rid of are generally the off the shelf stuff or easy to replace items (like my asylum costume that they sold to me for $5---just a chefs jacket with the asylum logo patch), but they keep most everything of value. I still suspect the museum will be re-purposed as a store.
  20. ^So much for that. Good news for me: there's still a Trojan captaining a team in the Super Bowl, so go Carolina! Bummed Carson choked (his finger injury has to be worse than reported...)
  21. Yeah, it wasn't anything spectacular by any means. However, it was a nice touch to show the park cared about its past.
  22. You won't regret going to Japan.
  23. You don't build more hotel rooms unless you are expecting demand to increase...so I would guess that new attractions will be presented as part of the master plan the government wants to see.
  24. I see you more as a ralph wiggum with all your amazingly intelligent quotes
  25. I wouldn't say that, not as long as Lasseter has any pull with the company. Bringing it back on paper wasn't a bad idea...it fit the theme and gave everyone a nostalgia boner. Just too bad no one realized the ride system was left in the 60's for a reason.
